No movie captured the personality of real soldiers better than this one. Even "Black Hawk Down" made them too soft and melodramatic. My grandfather served in Vietnam ( light infantry) and two of my brothers are infantry guys. They act just like these guys. In my opinion this is the most accurate portrayal of the american soldier that has ever come from Hollywood.

I read that the heavily bandaged soldier walking across scene at 1:09 is a "ghost" Kubrick put in a sign of a shift in the film.

Check out the strange unearthly sound on the song at this moment .... Coincidence ? Kubrick didn't do coincidence.

Is the "ghost" a sign of the imminent death of some of the soldiers in the LustHog platoon, who up to this point are quite enjoying the battle.

The film is about to turn very dark for them when they become a sniper's targets after this pojnt.
