Becky Glenn wrote a book called 'Common Sense,' a nod to Thomas Paine's famous 18th century tract of the same name. Only thing is, Becky doesn't have a damned clue about Tom Paine or what Paine stood for. Read Thomas Frank's comparison between Becky Glenn's moronic book and the views of the real Thomas Paine at Frank's website tcfrank (dot) com. Unlike Becky Glenn, who has a high school education, Thomas Frank has a Phd in history.

The man is BRILLIANT!!!! He speaks about the founding ideals and holds both parties accountable. i love him and hope tha America continues to "get it". People that attact him, I promise you they don't watch him and have never spent any time listening to his views - I PROMISE YOU!!!!! If they did with any intellectual honesty, they would say that he has real American values at heart!

I have watched him. He is a phony. He reads cue cards for his paycheck. To Beck, being American, being patriotic is submitting to allow government to listen to your phone calls, spy on you warrantless. To him,people who simply question things like government, 9/11 etc. are un-American extremists. Questions like that are as American as it gets. He works for the controlled corporate media and you fall for it and root for it like a sports team to distract you from real issues.

He has stated in the past and still does that he supports the patriot act i.e. government wiretaps. He calls people who simply question their government un-American who hate America. I don't understand where you're coming from? What you need to understand is that he is in the entertainment business. His salary is proof he's controlled, not proof he's that talented. Look at his show. It's entertainment. It's all part of the brainwashing, dumb everyone down type of TV today.

He is a government plant to get those of you who watch him into agreeing and believing that whoever Beck says hates America, you'll all agree and won't question. Look at how he setup the lady running for governor of Texas. That was all setup to discredit her and he was taking orders to do so. If he was the real deal he wouldn't need all the fancy lights, graphics, props and music on his show. All he would need is one desk and a chair for himself and a chair his guest(s).

Absolutely agree JohnR, He has also captured the pulse of the sleeping majority, who are no longer willing to zone out to "Dancing With the Stars" as their country goes down the toilet. IMO Beck's popularity is due to the fact that he does something that none of the other Right wing talk show poeple have done. He's combined Right wing views with a Left wing persona. He's emotional, weepy, bleats about "values" and "trust" and "compassion".

It's as though someone combined Hannity's brain (with a touch of populism) with Chris Matthews' personality.
