  • Nice. My cruze is 208 horsepower thanks to a performance chip, borla exhaust, and a cold air intake. Will do 0-60 in about 5.8. Plus it still gets 43 mph and ladies still love it.

  • @mousecrf230 I have a hard time believing 3 mods to a 1.4L motor will yield a 70 hp gain. Not saying it's not true, just hard to believe. Hell just adding an APR chip to my car will add 53hp and 100lb-ft torque!

  • I've smoked about 5 Civil Si's on highway pulls with my tuned Cruze (160 HP / 200 ft-lbs). I'm running mid 7s 0-60. But I'm not dying at 70 mph like all the other 4 cyl cars shit is pulling all the way to 100 now with ease

  • The only honda civic I would buy is the 200 hp one. When honda switched from dohc to sohc the base engine lost performance. the 200 hp still uses dohc.

  • Wish this was a 2.0L turbo with more horsepower instead of a 1.4 . This turbo pretty much has the same horsepower as the 1.8 too.

  • well that six speed really hurts since u shift 3 times compared to my 4 speed which shifts once before i get to 60 (out of overdrive) that small engine definitely shows it's lacking in power but the turbo helps, it's funny it's rated the same as my 3.0l vulcan but it is definitely slower by around 2 to 4 seconds, and seeing as how this car is lighter then mine, i would assume it the extra shifts. car looks really good though and the interior looks amazing.

  • just as slow as my jetta 2.0

  • I finished reading a book before that reached 50...

  • 1.4L Damn some motorcycle have engines that big.

  • I drive a Cruze LTZ. Flooring the Cruze turbo takes it out of the power band. The 148 ft-lb torque on the power curve actually is only 2000-5000 RPM, after 5000 you lose all the power quickly. This car is surprisingly faster when you don't floor it... WIERD.

  • @ErikEggleston yeah. its the same for my sisters altima 2.5s. low end torque is fantastic but flooring it gets you no where. faster if you accelerate slowly.

  • @ErikEggleston, turbos love load :)

  • Completely stop next time n go on a straight line cause this was so innacurate! :(

  • might need some gas =P

  • 0-60 8 sec ?

  • not even 50 miles on it, poor machine.

  • the point isnt about whose car is faster...

    cool video btw!

  • My 2003 toyota Camry V-6 (24 valve) is faster, much much faster.

  • @Aliendear My 2009 G8 GT V8 ( 6.0L 32 valve) is much much much much faster than your toyota!!1!

  • @skynetceo2032 I can go faster than some v8's, a modified chip allows me to do that.

  • @Aliendear does that chip allow your car to go 0-60 in 5 seconds?? the G8 doesnt need a chip to be quick.and your "chip" needs the supporting modifications to get the power it is meant to support.why u would pick a camry to race in???idk haha

  • @smirf4472PS3 Without the Chip, it can already go 0 - 60 in 5.6 secs. With the chip, it can go 0-60 in approximately 4 seconds. I can reach 80 mph in nearly 5.6 secs, it's just amazing how fast this car can go. I have beat V-8 motors where ever I go. They get surprised by the sudden acceleration. This is a 24 valve aluminum everything. With a transmission that has solenoids for shifting.

  • @Aliendear where could i get this chip?

  • @mireya1rivera Look around on modding sites, etc. I myself, did not install the chip or the programming. The car came that way, used, from the dealer. The transmission may have bigger gears than its supposed to. I don't know. I don't know who or what owned this car previously, but it had darkened windows all the way around, of which I had to remove three. Windshield, driver and passenger window. Big V8 pickup trucks can keep up with this car, when I leave a light. But not cars.

  • @smirf4472PS3 If you want to see what it looks like, here is an exact replica detail for detail. youtube.com/watch?v=cLkEWLGDNtU&feature=channel_video_title

  • @smirf4472PS3 Also, I did not put the chip in. It came that way from the dealer. In my opinion it was either an undercover (cop type) car or a modified car of some type.

  • @skynetceo2032 The G8 GT has an LS2 which is a 16 valve pushrod engine....not 32.

  • nice car man

  • Did the rubber band break when it hit 60?

  • @stutzman2 WHAT?

  • @MrMK94 Just an old joke, they always used to say these compact cars were powered by rubberbands.LOL

  • this car sucks...2012 Focus is waaaay better hands down....

  • @waltermarines89 how fucking high are you?

  • @waltermarines89

It's not sixteen seconds, he's not flooring it the first six or seven seconds.

  • Turbo is more fuel efficient because it atomizes air and could get better mpg's with correct a/f mixture.

  • Were u getting passed by a cyclist??? Can't even believe how people are like oh yeah she's got some pick up. She ain't pickin up shit even if she had a bed in the back.

  • @thecommonsmoker420 Its a small, light pressure turbo. It still spools up. How in the hell do you think they got more power out of a 1.4l over the 1.8 l non turbo option?

  • @thecommonsmoker420 No dude, you trust me. I've driven lots of these, soon to own one. You can feel the torque from the turbo kicking in at about 2300-2500RPM. It has torque. You CAN silence the sound of a turbo, depending on the type of bearings you use, location, sound deadening, airflow optimizations.... It is completely possible, especially on a smaller turbo like the one they use here.

If you've driven one, you can feel the torque come on when it spools up.

  • @rudolphna54 The cruze has a shield around its turbo. minimizing its whine. Why the hell they would do that? Beyond me! I would love to hear it as i floor it.

  • @xWOMBOCOMBOx I just bought one, so I know. Because most people don't want to hear it, they would think somethings wrong with the car, being the uneducated, dumb masses that they are.

  • @rudolphna54 I have to agree. I just bought one, a RS model (just has ground effects and 18's), and from my experience, so far, the turbo really kicks in at 2500-3250. You can really feel the torque kick in at those ranges. After about 4K RPM, the pull stops. This is cause GM designed these engines to produce torque when you'll spend most of your driving. For what it is, it has enough get up and go and is very fuel efficient. I don't hear the turbo, but rather the growl of the little 1.4L.

  • @thecommonsmoker420

They make them so you DON'T hear them. Most people don't want to hear extra engine noises. Thus, it is made to be silent.

  • They need to make a high performance model with the 2.0L Turbo from the Cobalt SS. You can still get 30 MPG out of that thing with a 5 speed or 6 speed.

  • ur on empty

  • @jeppy08 Gas light isn't on

  • @GMManiac it runs on hopes and dreams!

  • My G'mum's 2001 Cavalier 2.4 W/115 HP beat one of these from 70-100. I was surprised.

  • @PhoenixOrion602x 2.4l Twin Cam Cavaliers are more like 170-180 hp. Think its the same engine Grandams have, though I could be wrong.

  • @dirtbikeryzz The 2.4L was 140HP iirc, not 170-180. The Grand-Ams got one of GMs V6s. Somewhere between the 3.1L and the 3.8L

  • @rudolphna54 Both my friends have grandams, ones a 4cyl 2.4l and ones a 6cyl 3.6l, and we raced them and they where side by side the entire time, and the 2.4 had 1 more person in it. Idk how but that 2.4l was a beast.

  • @dirtbikeryzz the 2.4 only has 150 HP

  • @dirtbikeryzz I was wrong, she has a 2.2 ECOTEC 4 cylinder. 115 HP :)

  • I noticed my RS isn't to impressive from 0-60 but from 30ish - 75 it's got some nice pickup.

  • If this car was just a tad (or a lot) faster, I guarantee it would sell a lot more, even though its primary customer is probably not a speed demon. Ford could at least make a sport model with a boost in horsepower for those who want power as well as efficiency

  • Seconde 0 a 100 ?? 8 ???

  • what a slug

  • its not from 0-60 its from 10-60

  • Does anyone know if this car comes with a speed shift? You know where you can change it from a automatic to a manual..

  • @MIDNITEDUCK07 yes it does

  • Chevy is trying to make their vehicles more efficient, looks kind of look the same. Ford is trying for the same as chevy but is also making the cars more modern, such as the ford taurus or ford explorer-plus the ecoboost engine is more powerful and fuel efficient. Toyota has always had vehicles with good mpg's, but are just trying to make them safer since the recalls. All automakers have a certain flaw and are trying to fix it first then anything else. I'd be happy with anything dat has 4 wheels

  • SLOW!!! Just like the people who drive them! LOL!! I'm kidding. Take it easy......

  • I love how you've got it pinned with like 50 miles on it. Ever heard of a break-in period? Derrrrrrrrrp

  • Rental?

  • This car is supposed to put GM back on the global map? I don't think so! Honda and Toyota can get the same acceleration from a 1.4 motor without using a turbo.

  • @1krazydriver Toyota and Honda use 1.8 l engines in their compacts, and they get fewer MPGs despite being smaller cars. The point of using a 1.4 turbo isn't for performance, it's for efficiency.

  • @JrgrimWoW

Ever driven both for yourself and recorded fuel economy? try real world driving scenarios and see which delivers better fuel economy. No domestic engine manufacturer can touch honda's efficiency.

  • @habs2010champs RRIIIIIIICCE!!!!!!! Who the fuck cares what Hondas can do?

  • @severedtesticles RREDNECK BACKWOODS HIIIIICKKK!!!!! Appreciate all cars regardless of where they come from.

  • @snaundersduu LOL...appreciate some little Honda Civic that only dip-shit 20 somethings and teenager drive becuase they don't know any better? No thanks.

I'll stick with my Camaro, tyvm.

  • @habs2010champs if only hondas engineering was as good as their fuel efficiency.

  • @JrgrimWoW Hmm its not really that efficient if the 1.8 by Honda can get the same amount fuel of mileage or better then the Cruze and yup its been proven..

  • @soyntgo4it elantra is better

  • @DJonX7 Better than Cruze or Honda?

  • @soyntgo4it the interior is ummm, more refined in the elantra than the honda, the honda went down in quality

  • @DJonX7 Ok.. Honda still have the best reputation for reliability . If the interior is the case Civic has more room inside the cabin then the Elantra ride quality is not as good as the Civic's and the MPG on the Civic is slightly better also because it weighs less than the Elantra. But both cars are far better than the Cruze I'll give them that..

  • @soyntgo4it Honda had some pretty sucky years. but the 2012 Elantra I own gets 58 Canadian miles per gallon. I don't think the difference is enough to matter. My buddy has the latest civic, and it sincerely isn't as comfortable or spacious in the cabin. I didn't notice a difference between the ride quality though.

  • @DJonX7 To each their own I guess..

  • @soyntgo4it But I must say the interior of the Cruze is much nicer than the Civic, however, the Cruze seats are kind of stiff. The cruze has a better chassis than all three of them, but I think I like the elantra interior better than the cruze. The Korean makers should adoptt a German chassis like the Cruze did.

  • @DJonX7 Well there wasn't really much to change with the Civic since was just a revamp of the car all around since they have had luck selling a lot of them. The Civic will under go another revamp for 2013/2014 model year again so change will be going on there. Not a fan of the Cruze since the car seems to Blah for my taste. Hyundai/KIA has come a long way so excited for that company to do good things with their cars lately. Now that they have Audi engineer Peter Schreyer helping them now.

  • @soyntgo4it hey not alot of people know that they have the Audi chief designer. that says alot for how far they've come. lol

  • @1krazydriver

Yes, in a much lighter car (Fit, Yaris). This car weighs a tad over 3,000lb, those weigh about 2000lb. That's like saying that Ford sucks because they got the same acceleration out of a 4.6L engine- yeah, in an expedition that weighs twice as much.

  • this is not a real chevy, loser

  • @iLoveJesus164 General Motors, Owner and maker of the brand Chevrolet, does in fact manufacture, the Chevrolet, Cruze. It is indeed, a Real, Manufactured, Chevrolet. Just because it doesn't get 2 miles to the gallon, does not mean it is non real. Chevrolet also manufactures the Chevrolet Volt, a car only comparable to the Honda Insight, Toyota Prius, and Nissan Leaf. Apparently Jesus lover believes that Eco friendly cars are a little to gay for his tastes so he is going to hate on both groups.

  • @deedundone this is still not a chevrolet and ppl that know a lot about americans cars will say the same

  • @iLoveJesus164 who cares? if you like the car, you like the car

  • @deedundone Exactly. The Cruze was designed by GM Europe, however, that's why the styling/engine seems a bit different to what Americans are accustomed to.

  • thank you for posting this vid. makes me glad I didn't buy this car. I mean, it's slower than a Cobalt. WTF?? Maybe Chevy should adopt Toyota's tagline: MOVING FORWARD. Aka, like make the newer car faster than the older car.

I'll wait a few years, until Chevy comes out with a Cruze SS, with 200+hp, then I'll consider it.

  • @msrednic The Cobalt was one of the more powerful compacts, but the Cruze isn't too bad. I'm waiting for a turbo 1.8 Cruze SS. It would easily smoke anything in it's class, but GM has become very conservative in performance recently. We'll have to see.

  • @ChickenC0re A lot of that has to do with the company taking the brands Eco. Ford, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda have made amazing strides at Eco friendly cars or simply making cars that get good mileage. GM is obviously trying to make up for its lack of Eco awareness with the Cruze and Volt. However, they seem to be going in the right direction with the Eco, but not countering it will enough Inefficient Gas guzzling tree killing air pollution creating vehicles. Personally Id trade power for mileage

  • @deedundone The former Cobalt achieved high fuel economy numbers, but the Cruze is going the right step. Daewoo has always used GM technology, nearly all of their cars are based on a European GM product (Opel). So the Cruze is built in America by GM with GM technology. I have an Aveo, it's manufactured by Daewoo in Korea, but it is mechanically identical to a late 1980's Opel Kadett; I can still tell it's a GM product.

  • Can you do this in a straight line? The first shift was at 5500 rpm which makes me think wide open full throttle was not engaged

  • @TheJ602

  • GM shoulda remade the 1.8 alittle more and turboed it as an option, but Ill give up a bit of speed for excelent saftey, 42 mph, and the Chevy badge, lol.

  • thats an interesting gear pattern, i like it.

  • GM should have put the 2.0 ecotec in this car or atleast gave it a little more HP. I plan on waiting for the 2012 Focus

  • @Abercrombie7131 same here the cruze sucks it slow as hell. My cobalt manual would smoke it LoL

  • @Houstonkiller713 The Cruze is'nt built for speed, it's built for saftey.
