The NT writings are from the historical records of the witnesses to Jesus. either from direct witnesses or form 1st hand witnesses. The only proof for Jesus is by the historical record, that is it. It is based on the historical record and that is it.

I'm pretty sure He knew you would fail several times, but can He not get off His own ass and do it Himself?
He's the Creator of the fucking Universe. How hard is it to just pop-up in everyone's face—at the same time—in such a way that will make even the most skeptical person believe?

It's not demented. If you would open your mind and heart to reading his word you would understand what I am saying. People, who read his word understand what being good is. Loving your neighbor as you love yourself, being a person who shows generosity, loving your enemies, helping those who hate and spitefully use you, not judging another person for their sins because you have your own that you need to judge, watching the confessions of your mouth because it's from your heart. :)
@SpiritOfElation I have read "his word", Genesis to Malachi, Matthew to Revelations, cover to cover, several times. And all those things that you mention - loving your neighbor, showing generosity, not judging others, etc. - are things that do not require a belief in a supernatural deity to accomplish. I'm good without god. I'm good without Yahweh or Allah or Zeus or Baal or Dionysus or any of the other tens of thousands of deities that mankind has dreamed up throughout human history. :)
No it does not mean I can't move by myself, or think for myself because God gives everyone that right. He gives us the right to make decisions, but to be honest our decisions don't make us good. I have sin, and everyone sins and falls short day by day of what "being good" really is. Have you ever stolen or "borrowed without asking?" have you lied? Do you curse when you speak? Do you love violence? These are just some of the little things in our lives that make us less than being good.
That's great! I'm so excited for you, and happy that you are taking the initiative to be a better person. I probably should not have said good because no one is good except for God and Jesus Christ. So, bless your soul! Maybe God is moving you in your life without you knowing it. ;) He does that to me too.
@SpiritOfElation "...no one is good except for God and Jesus Christ." Wow. That's a pathetically horrible and demented perspective of the human race. I cannot for the life of me imagine what is so attractive about a doctrine that would have someone believe such pessimistic garbage about their fellow humans. If that's the "message" that your religion inspires you to carry to others, you can keep it. I want no part of that nonsense.
A christian is not supposed to argue with unbelievers. We are only messengers to inform them of the good news of the coming of God, and Jesus Christ. That's it. So, auguring is unneeded. You believe, or you don't. You follow God or you don't, but from personal experience, reading the bible and following God's law of love has made me a better person.
@SpiritOfElation Why would you believe, that if a God wanted us to know an important message, we wouldn't just be born with that message? Why would you believe a God wrote a book and wants people to spread it? Especially when that's exactly how all godcults in history spread the God and their message?
Just to note : Biblegod doesn't care if you love or hate (his book commands both) - all can be forgiven. Biblegod only cares if you believe without skepticism - and auto reject everything else.
@SpiritOfElation And being good to other people without having to devote myself to an unprovable and unproven claim of a super-natural deity has made ME a better person.
You'd be a much better person if you didn't believe in god, unless you're one of those wicked dudes who would rape, kill and murder without your religion because nothing is holding you back.. aka Psychopaths.
@SpiritOfElation "but from personal experience, reading the bible and following God's law of love has made me a better person.” --> From my personal experience, turning away from the faith and searching for my own meaning and purpose made me an even better person.
muslims took over my campus today... i got a free qoran. i told him i didn't believe but i was lookin for a good read... he was half excited and half very sad
@dopeasfuckk 'good' isn't exactly the first word I'd use to describe the Qur'an. I find it to be just as warped and twisted as the Bible. But it's definitely interesting. Keep an eye open for the familiar bible stories and take note of the similarities and differences. eg. Genesis 22 - Abraham tries to sacrifice Isaac. As-Saffat (37) 100-113: Abraham tries to sacrifice Ishmael. It's comical. And tragic as well, considering the staggering number of people who kill and are killed over these books.
i would lose my mind. you fucking idiot...how have you not died yet; so stupid you are. i dont think i'd be able to resist punching him in the face had this been live
i would lose my mind. you fucking idiot...how have you not died yet; so stupid you are. i dont think i'd be able to resist punching him in the face had this been live
@kepter1 Lacking evidence for what? I never said we have all the evidence we could ever want. I just said we have enough to make a judgement about what happened.
ignorance's root word is IGNORE!! it isn't just a lack of knowledge - it's a *desired* lack of knowledge. the christian caller is burying his head up his ass as he blathers out more bible prattle to fight people who make their living tearing it a new one. just because it says so in a book that people claim is true means nothing - because there are many different scruptures of many different religions
...For after all the great religions have been preached and expounded, or have been revealed by brilliant scholars, or have been written in fine books and embellished in fine language with finer covers, man, - all man - is still confronted by the Great Mystery.
@pswmetalmonkey I guess the cast of this show were right when they said that there are idiots in both atheism and theism. Pop quiz stupid what about my post said I believe in any religion? If you didn't mean to insult me and were instead making a comment about actual religious people, then please learn to construct your sentences better as you are making atheists look bad with your poorly constructed sentences and logic. Replying with "you" means your addressing the speaker.
Anyone else notice? This is Ruban, the prank caller/moron (it's debatable if he's as stupid as he pretends to be) who shows up to waste their time periodically. Same voice, he just tried to adopt an accent to hide it, since he'd been banned from calling before.
We have a really good idea how things came about. (sorry but this is faith study in classrooms isnt proff). Talk of laws as you used physics still doesnt disprove anything. Christians base what they believe on faith not proff. Im respectable to all faiths as well as those without faith. You think you have a I won button but the fact is you are basing what you think on faith as well. To think your not is a lie there is no proff in what you think where humans came from. More rational? Think not.
@kepter1 Sorry to debunk your whole argument, but faith is believing things without evidence. Science is evidence based. Therefore science is not faith.
@MrPianoJames To claim we have a good idea that is faith. Taking trust in something. I never claimed that science was faith. The facts remain you dont have proff and that lacking you need to trust/have faith in what your claims are.
@kepter1 Ah, now I understand why there is confusion between us. Trust and faith are not the same thing. I do indeed put trust in scientists, but trust is earned through past experience and evidence. Faith is believing things without evidence.
My evidence for trusting scientists is that in the past they have been right, discoveries such as penicillin, computers, nuclear power were all once speculation and are now deemed correct.
@MrPianoJames Your evidence must also include the wrongs of scientists also? Im willing to discuss this idea with anyone. Someone that claims evolution/big bang or any other thing that science hasnt proven does take on even a small amount of faith. Like my first comment says no one has the I WON button. There claims lack evidence. With lacking evidence you would need faith. Thanks for the reponses im sorry i dont log on everyday. What you said did make sense think we just look at it different.
@kepter1 I think before you criticise you need to look at what evidence is actually available. You are not aware of the evidence, this is very different from there not being any evidence. Read some books, do some research and you will see that faith is not necessary. I think another area you are confused about is that science doesn't 'assert' the truth. We think the big bang is the best explanation for the current evidence and will happily change our minds if new evidence appears.
@MrPianoJames First im not criticising and ive looked at the ideas and why science has come up with the ideas. All are lacking. These comments are all about one thing only and its about the use of the word faith. Its something that must be used when you talking about this subject theres no way around that trust doesnt do there lacking. Your own statement of we think is taking faith. Faith is confidence or trust in a thing. Not sure why that bothers you so much. But that is what you are doing .
@kepter1 No disrespect, but if you think science is lacking then you have not done enough research. I say again, faith is believing something without evidence, something science doesn't do. Fact.
@MrPianoJames None taking at all disresect i mean. Theorys like big bang and evolution do lack. That is a fact. Again i started my first comment with the idea of no one has a I WON button. Without that idea we all rune good intentions of alot of good people. Your being closed minded if you think claims of big bang or evolution doesnt take on any amount of faith. Great comments thanks. Im sorry i dont have a I WON button. Feel free to take the last words here ive said my peace take care.
@kepter1 What is the theory of evolution via natural selection lacking? If you've found something, then you should win a Nobel prize, as scientists have been trying to do that for over 100 years.
@kepter1 I appreciate the politeness of your comments, you seem very well-mannered but (forgive me) quite naive. Evolution and The Big Bang are based on evidence and so cannot possibly come under the definition of faith. Call me pedantic if you like, but I'm certainly not closed minded. There is no room for debate that there is faith in science. It is a fact that there isn't. Find me something scientists believe that is not based on evidence and I would agree with you.
I am a god, just because I am a god, just because I am a god, just because I am a god, just because, just because. Perfectly logical argument. Now send me all your money and I will grant you three miracles.
@zachariasadams1984 but you forget the thiests trump card."god holy magic did it!) it say os in the bible.and of course god lives outside our known reality so we can not understand how the holy magic works becuase it is beyond our understanding! "PRAISE JEBUS!"
and he needed a rib to make a woman. is he running out of supplies? did the celestial hardware store go out of business? why didn't he just make eve out of clay? why didn't he make jesus out of clay? the bible contradicts itself within the first story. first light, then the sun, then first animals, then humans. (plural) then in the next story adam is THE ONLY human, so god gives him animals. what about all the humans from the first story. is eden a type of pre-purgetory? stupidity=religion
i was reading shit i mean the bible yesterday and in the first 6 days god created light out of nothing, then water out of nothing then then earth out of nothing. where is he getting his supplies. is there a celestial hardware store. i thought he was all alone, yet satan was up there too, and jesus and the holy ghost? then he created the sun AFTER he created light. then he created animals then people. but in the next chapter he creates a garden then adam, THEN the animals.
why is the sun hot? cause it is :D man i feel smart XD thats how theist think lol they think a easy answer is thee answer lol and they have the balls to tell atheist or such that their stupid lol wow its like a person that weights 500pounds calling a person thats 200 pounds fatass XD
see this is the reason people need to get the helll out of re-lig-ion its cool if you are willing to read up on it i mean pick up the book or books and read so that you will have knowledge of what you stand on...study to show thy self approve...is what the bible said ....
@KingdomSeeker2012 without any evidence to back up what you said, your statement is meaningless. i could replace the word god with thor or poseidon and i would be no more wrong than you.
@KingdomSeeker2012 There's no such thing as sin. Sin is just religion's weak but failing attempt at the moral guidance/reponsibility endeavor in the form of a moral shell game with no sense of merit or puporse except egotism, control and justifications for atrocities. It's all a religiously fabricated moral ego trip.
@KingdomSeeker2012 What, god? How would one know what it wanted? The only "god's" that I heve heard of having rules that are a "sin" to break, are like the god of Abraham (Christians, Jews, Muslims). Since this god is a logical contradiction, according to the texts that describe it, and thus cannot possibly exist, can you describe a possible god and where it's rules can be found?
Ah yes I see it is a word indeed, my spell checker doesn't recognise it. How about that. I don't accept the assumption that all morality comes from the notion of gods. It comes from a rational consideration of the consequences of our actions. I also don't think it's useful to treat money as meaningless, unless you want to live in a world without money. Money is there because it has to be there. Without it society would not be as it is today. But I couldn't be bothered talking about economies.
Transcendent of reason? Please explain what that even means, but don't use reason to do so. Oh no wait, that doesn't make any sense. But then again, who cares? Reason and logic aren't all there are! Is that what's bouncing around inside your head?
You're absolutely right it has developed into many contradictory themes.
I say listening to little voices in your head and gut feelings while ignoring reason is dangerous. That's not a pathway to truth, that's a flight into one of the WTC towers.
Atheists figure out religion is merely manmade concepts and that fundamentalists are usually all quite insane, yet that's as far as they ever go. They embrace conventional "theoretic" science like christians embrace old books and deny conscious experiences beyond this reality. I'd suggest to any atheist to read a little Alan Watts, take up one of Terence McKenna's suggestions or pay attention to what people like Graham Hancock or Rick Strassman are talking about to get behind the real "mystery."
@Hanahleia Yeah they do, reasonable people that they are. That is, they respect reason. Not gut feelings. Not emotion. Not faith. Not 'conscious experiences beyond this reality', which being outside this reality, would be unreal, like the smell of the colour of the letter 6 in a southerly direction inside out.
@58jf59 "Inability to accept the mystic experience is more than an intellectual handicap." - Alan Watts
To the contrary, "conscious experiences beyond this reality" is what I'd relate to as an experience in which over the centuries, has developed many names. Alan Watts referred to this as "the mystical experience," it is a way that is knowing that is transcendent of reason, and they're quite real as opposed to unreal. I find that most atheists don't even know it exist, let alone a possibility.
@fadechicobuarque1989 Aww you poor silly immature sceptic! I know ***ULTIMATE TRUTH*** and you use this illogical "science" (which can't prove anything) to try and disprove things even though you are unreasonable about REALITY! Let me arbitrarily quote from someone to make myself sound intellectual:
"There's a difference between a philosophy and a bumper sticker." - Charles M. Schulz
Atheists pffft they're just so blind to things outside reality.
@58jf59 Are you for real? I read the bible. Science is illogical? So, how do you live without it? I am not blind – you are just accusing me and insulting me with no evidence. But you know what, that is not an evidence that the bible is true (much less THE truth). Do you have any?
@fadechicobuarque1989 I think you meant "faith" in this context, not "fate." The mystical experience is a theosophical approach to understanding God. It is not a faith, it is a deeply intuitive experience. If you concern yourself with scientific evidence, then you're going to circumambulate the real mysteries concerning religion, because contemporary science doesn't deal with these sort of issues, they're too busy with things they could commodifiy, they're not trying to open people's minds.
@Hanahleia Yes, I meant faith (I am not from an English speaking country). Science deals with all aspects of reality and most of theosophical and metaphysical approaches just don’t work well with the scientific method. It is the one method you don’t have to believe in to use and validate, since it is demonstrable.
@fadechicobuarque1989 Well, evidentialism is not itself evidenced, it is inherently paradoxical to hold this view. However, I suppose if you're looking for "evidence," since it seems it's what you surround YOUR atheism with, then you could take up meditation. If you don't have the patience for meditation, I find Terence McKenna's recommendations to be quite effective. There are many paths, but one truth. If you're going to do that, you should go about it very cautiously, and not recklessly.
@Hanahleia Evidentialism is the claim that your belief is supported by evidence, while I do not have a belief. I use meditation as part of my martial arts practice, but this kind of experience is still not scientific evidence.
@fadechicobuarque1989 What I'm talking about is a very ancient form of meditation, it's known as dhyana in Hinduism or Zen in Buddhism. It is the art of silencing the mind, an annihilation not only of will but of all effort or desire for effort. The complete cessation of the ego and self-consciousness that dissolves the subject-object experience to have a direct connection to the divine. Contemporary science doesn't address this, if it did, then theosophy wouldn't be so vague as it is now.
"nuthin".

So, bless your soul! Maybe God is moving you in your life without you knowing it. ;) He does that to me too.
SpiritOfElation 2 weeks ago
@SpiritOfElation "...no one is good except for God and Jesus Christ." Wow. That's a pathetically horrible and demented perspective of the human race. I cannot for the life of me imagine what is so attractive about a doctrine that would have someone believe such pessimistic garbage about their fellow humans. If that's the "message" that your religion inspires you to carry to others, you can keep it. I want no part of that nonsense.
q1000101 2 weeks ago 14
@SpiritOfElation
Does that mean you are not good by yourself? Does that mean you can't move by yourself?
Does that mean you can't think for yourself?
ASo5one 1 week ago
A christian is not supposed to argue with unbelievers. We are only messengers to inform them of the good news of the coming of God, and Jesus Christ. That's it. So, auguring is unneeded. You believe, or you don't. You follow God or you don't, but from personal experience, reading the bible and following God's law of love has made me a better person.
SpiritOfElation 2 weeks ago

Thank you for playing.

Thats just sad.
You'd be a much better person if you didn't believe in god, unless you're one of those wicked dudes who would rape, kill and murder without your religion because nothing is holding you back.. aka Psychopaths.

And tragic as well, considering the staggering number of people who kill and are killed over these books.

ignorance's root word is IGNORE!! it isn't just a lack of knowledge - it's a *desired* lack of knowledge. the christian caller is burying his head up his ass as he blathers out more bible prattle to fight people who make their living tearing it a new one. just because it says so in a book that people claim is true means nothing - because there are many different scruptures of many different religions

Think not.
kepter1 3 weeks ago
@kepter1 Sorry to debunk your whole argument, but faith is believing things without evidence. Science is evidence based. Therefore science is not faith.
MrPianoJames 3 weeks ago
@MrPianoJames To claim we have a good idea that is faith. Taking trust in something. I never claimed that science was faith. The facts remain you dont have proff and that lacking you need to trust/have faith in what your claims are.
kepter1 3 weeks ago
@kepter1 Ah, now I understand why there is confusion between us. Trust and faith are not the same thing. I do indeed put trust in scientists, but trust is earned through past experience and evidence. Faith is believing things without evidence.
My evidence for trusting scientists is that in the past they have been right, discoveries such as penicillin, computers, nuclear power were all once speculation and are now deemed correct.
Does that make sense?
MrPianoJames 3 weeks ago
@kepter1 No response?
MrPianoJames 2 weeks ago
@MrPianoJames Your evidence must also include the wrongs of scientists also? Im willing to discuss this idea with anyone. Someone that claims evolution/big bang or any other thing that science hasnt proven does take on even a small amount of faith. Like my first comment says no one has the I WON button. There claims lack evidence. With lacking evidence you would need faith. Thanks for the reponses im sorry i dont log on everyday. What you said did make sense think we just look at it different.
kepter1 2 weeks ago
@kepter1 I think before you criticise you need to look at what evidence is actually available. You are not aware of the evidence, this is very different from there not being any evidence. Read some books, do some research and you will see that faith is not necessary. I think another area you are confused about is that science doesn't 'assert' the truth. We think the big bang is the best explanation for the current evidence and will happily change our minds if new evidence appears.
MrPianoJames 2 weeks ago
@MrPianoJames First im not criticising and ive looked at the ideas and why science has come up with the ideas. All are lacking. These comments are all about one thing only and its about the use of the word faith. Its something that must be used when you talking about this subject theres no way around that trust doesnt do there lacking. Your own statement of we think is taking faith. Faith is confidence or trust in a thing. Not sure why that bothers you so much. But that is what you are doing .
kepter1 2 weeks ago
@kepter1 No disrespect, but if you think science is lacking then you have not done enough research. I say again, faith is believing something without evidence, something science doesn't do. Fact.
MrPianoJames 2 weeks ago
@MrPianoJames None taking at all disresect i mean. Theorys like big bang and evolution do lack. That is a fact. Again i started my first comment with the idea of no one has a I WON button. Without that idea we all rune good intentions of alot of good people. Your being closed minded if you think claims of big bang or evolution doesnt take on any amount of faith. Great comments thanks. Im sorry i dont have a I WON button. Feel free to take the last words here ive said my peace take care.
kepter1 2 weeks ago
@kepter1 "Faith is confidence or trust in a thing." You forgot the end of that definition.
Faith is confidence or trust in a thing, for which there is no evidence.
If there is evidence, then one does not require faith.
yuothineyesasian 2 weeks ago
@kepter1 What is the theory of evolution via natural selection lacking? If you've found something, then you should win a Nobel prize, as scientists have been trying to do that for over 100 years.
Fortune2point0 2 weeks ago 2
@kepter1 I appreciate the politeness of your comments, you seem very well-mannered but (forgive me) quite naive. Evolution and The Big Bang are based on evidence and so cannot possibly come under the definition of faith. Call me pedantic if you like, but I'm certainly not closed minded. There is no room for debate that there is faith in science. It is a fact that there isn't. Find me something scientists believe that is not based on evidence and I would agree with you.

CynicalSkeptic1 1 month ago
@KingdomSeeker2012 There's no such thing as sin. Sin is just religion's weak but failing attempt at the moral guidance/reponsibility endeavor in the form of a moral shell game with no sense of merit or puporse except egotism, control and justifications for atrocities. It's all a religiously fabricated moral ego trip.
Chuloloc 1 month ago

58jf59 1 month ago
Transcendent of reason? Please explain what that even means, but don't use reason to do so. Oh no wait, that doesn't make any sense. But then again, who cares? Reason and logic aren't all there are! Is that what's bouncing around inside your head?
You're absolutely right it has developed into many contradictory themes.
I say listening to little voices in your head and gut feelings while ignoring reason is dangerous. That's not a pathway to truth, that's a flight into one of the WTC towers.
58jf59 1 month ago
Atheists figure out religion is merely manmade concepts and that fundamentalists are usually all quite insane, yet that's as far as they ever go. They embrace conventional "theoretic" science like christians embrace old books and deny conscious experiences beyond this reality. I'd suggest to any atheist to read a little Alan Watts, take up one of Terence McKenna's suggestions or pay attention to what people like Graham Hancock or Rick Strassman are talking about to get behind the real "mystery."
Hanahleia 1 month ago
@Hanahleia Yeah they do, reasonable people that they are. That is, they respect reason. Not gut feelings. Not emotion. Not faith. Not 'conscious experiences beyond this reality', which being outside this reality, would be unreal, like the smell of the colour of the letter 6 in a southerly direction inside out.
58jf59 1 month ago
@58jf59 "Inability to accept the mystic experience is more than an intellectual handicap." - Alan Watts
To the contrary, "conscious experiences beyond this reality" is what I'd relate to as an experience in which over the centuries, has developed many names. Alan Watts referred to this as "the mystical experience," it is a way that is knowing that is transcendent of reason, and they're quite real as opposed to unreal. I find that most atheists don't even know it exist, let alone a possibility.
Hanahleia 1 month ago
@Hanahleia Is there any scientific evidence that those experiences are true and correctly interpreted?
fadechicobuarque1989 1 month ago
@fadechicobuarque1989 Aww you poor silly immature sceptic! I know ***ULTIMATE TRUTH*** and you use this illogical "science" (which can't prove anything) to try and disprove things even though you are unreasonable about REALITY! Let me arbitrarily quote from someone to make myself sound intellectual:
"There's a difference between a philosophy and a bumper sticker." - Charles M. Schulz
Atheists pffft they're just so blind to things outside reality.
There Hanahleia, saved you the bother.
58jf59 1 month ago
@58jf59 Are you for real? I read the bible. Science is illogical? So, how do you live without it? I am not blind – you are just accusing me and insulting me with no evidence. But you know what, that is not an evidence that the bible is true (much less THE truth). Do you have any?

@fadechicobuarque1989 You've completely lost me. I'll forgive you not realising my first comment to you was blatant sarcasm.
58jf59 1 month ago
@58jf59 I am not trying to disprove anything, just asking if you have scientific or logical evidence to support your fate.
fadechicobuarque1989 1 month ago
@fadechicobuarque1989 I think you meant "faith" in this context, not "fate." The mystical experience is a theosophical approach to understanding God. It is not a faith, it is a deeply intuitive experience. If you concern yourself with scientific evidence, then you're going to circumambulate the real mysteries concerning religion, because contemporary science doesn't deal with these sort of issues, they're too busy with things they could commodifiy, they're not trying to open people's minds.
Hanahleia 1 month ago
@Hanahleia Yes, I meant faith (I am not from an English speaking country). Science deals with all aspects of reality and most of theosophical and metaphysical approaches just don’t work well with the scientific method. It is the one method you don’t have to believe in to use and validate, since it is demonstrable.
fadechicobuarque1989 1 month ago
@fadechicobuarque1989 Well, evidentialism is not itself evidenced, it is inherently paradoxical to hold this view. However, I suppose if you're looking for "evidence," since it seems it's what you surround YOUR atheism with, then you could take up meditation. If you don't have the patience for meditation, I find Terence McKenna's recommendations to be quite effective. There are many paths, but one truth. If you're going to do that, you should go about it very cautiously, and not recklessly.
Hanahleia 1 month ago
@Hanahleia Evidentialism is the claim that your belief is supported by evidence, while I do not have a belief. I use meditation as part of my martial arts practice, but this kind of experience is still not scientific evidence.
fadechicobuarque1989 1 month ago
@fadechicobuarque1989 What I'm talking about is a very ancient form of meditation, it's known as dhyana in Hinduism or Zen in Buddhism. It is the art of silencing the mind, an annihilation not only of will but of all effort or desire for effort. The complete cessation of the ego and self-consciousness that dissolves the subject-object experience to have a direct connection to the divine. Contemporary science doesn't address this, if it did, then theosophy wouldn't be so vague as it is now.
Hanahleia 1 month ago
