1:51 DONT do Freehand this is very tricky and Untidy.
To Erase or Draw in a straight line in One go select
ERASER or BRUSH,PENCIL etc just hold down SHIFT then Left mouse Button and a cross will appear, this is your start point then just Drag mouse across area to be Erased or Painted until the line is completely straight and NOT jagged then release left Mouse button and you have a perfect straight line.
delete the layer named 'background' by selecting it and pressing delete on the keyboard. The layer select thingy is in the box to the right side of the screen, first tab. hope this helps mate
@MultiDreadlockrasta EXACTLY! I ALWAYS save as PNG, JPEG is bad quality, it even says that when you tell it to save as a JPEG in MS Paint, it says something like This format will degrade your picture.
what all my photo editing teachers have told me never ever ever use the erase tool. when you are on a layer mask when you paint in black it will remove the image. when you paint in white it brings the image back. when you invert mask the mask will be black witch means that you wont see it when you paint over in white it will bring it back. i hope this was helpful it is the proper way to use masking. this is the same with photo shop and as well as gimp.
@SpiceyTaco101: hey you know that Layer box you have on the right the whole time? yeah i was having a stupid moment and i exited out of that box and i cant get it back T-T Help, please.
Help! I'm a total graphics dummy, trying to learn what a mask is and what it does. From this vid, it looks like all you did was erase part of an image from a layer. Is that it? How does this relate to Quickmask and all that?
yeah, but still with Bafran you CAN work on lots of pictures at a time wich is lot faster. there you have to import, then work on it, import, then work on it, import...ect
hey dont apply mask b4 erasing, just select the mask, not the image, i.e. the white thing, and paint on the mask with black color to see the background.
Do you take a picture of the flying lego person, and then remove the background via picture software, or do you download the lego picture from Google images?
I noticed you took a long time to erase the minifigures feet. to make a strait line you hold shift and the left clicker and make a line be careful you might erase to much. Oh yeah. This vid IS helpfull. I wish this vid was out when i had trouble with gimp.
yeah this helped I couldn't figure it out from Rsteenoven's tutorial since it was from an older version of GIMP it didn't work thx... and I think it's up to you were you want to post them...
THANKYOU
