  • Can't you get fingers caps to avoid getting callouses? I think that's what they're called, anyway.

I want to learn how to play sitar, but want to avoid these callouses. They sound extremely painful. D:

  • @jadaskylar Sorry but sitar is a sadomasochistic endeavor. Unless you like the pain you don't deserve to play it. However more importantly there is a sensitivity which is lost with finger caps. Sitar is such a fine instrument that you need every available nerve active to be able to play it.

  • a guitar techs worst nightmare

  • wow this really helped me turn off youtube and get back to my work...

  • would be a white lady and a hippy not to sound racist though, just funny.

  • no thanks. i would not want her as teacher. her looks are cold as ice. but sitar is something heart-warming...

  • dont sing please.. good meends though

  • i love hippys

  • I want to meet a nice woman who will play me to sleep with the sitar. I would love her for life.

  • expert village sucks

  • @luishem expert village does suck

  • @luishem you got that right- i originate from this culture, living with this music, and to me this is horrible

  • you got a -6 but i thought it was pretty funny

  • wow a -6 so i guess that it is true that people on you tube have no humor, it must stem fron the fact that all they do is sit in a dark room and never interact with the REAL WORLD out side thier basement. that or hippies dont know how to laugh. in that case GO DRINK THAT SPECIAL KOOL-AID

  • i want to know what you said, i wish it wouldn't hide those comments

  • i dont get it .

  • Sitar have amazing atmospheric sound.

  • Great demonstration, thanks!

  • ok well i live in america soooo how the heck an i gonna get a sitar and lessons seriously????

  • Actually, I saw some sitars at "instrumental savings". But as far as lessons, I don't know...

  • sitar sound is so mellow

  • i want one so bad. i love that drone sound.. god i want one

  • wow she is good, this could help sense im appaerently getting a sitar for my birthday

  • WOW, if u DO, u are SOO lucky!

  • i love this woman.

  • i know, i've watched her for like 30 secs and i already feel the same way LOL

  • The Sitar seemes like an instrument that whatever you play with sound awesome? Is this correct? Like someone who is ok at the sitar can start strumming stringers and frets and it will sound pretty sweet.

  • It depends what you're looking for. If you just want to spice up a rock song - then yes. Strum the strings and you'll be in psychedelic land. BUT! If you want to learn how to actually play it good you'd better find a teacher. ;)

  • It's really not, especially when first starting out. It sounds cool, and people are drawn to the sound, but it isn't really good sounding. People who know Indian music will shun you forever if you start doing that.

  • Hang on, I don't understand what you are saying. Are you saying it is wrong to believe that a sitar sounds good? I can't see what comment you are replying to so I am confused.

  • Stupid youtube didn't put it under the comment I meant it to. . . It was to somebody saying that playing anything on the sitar sounds good. And I was saying that anybody playing random shit on a sitar would be shunned by the purists of classical music.

  • ive been playing for a few years on the sitar. And I can tell that this woman is awesome! She sounds just like Ravi Shankar, who is probably the Best Ever since recorded sound! Answer to one: Sitar would change your outlook and spectrum of the guitar but what really hits you is the super sweet seductive sound and that you can hit ANY note and you can "say(?)" things with it that possibly no other instrument can do. God bless you and thank you for your instruction. The book is hard without visual

  • wthell

she didnt go thru all the basic "meends"

only the bends (which the soul people in the south have abused to eternal boredom)

whatever happened to "ghaseets" my fair ol lady

"ghaseets" are the essence of punkra music

  • whould playing guitar make it rilly easy to play sitar and if persay ur a child prodigey whould that help to cus im both and i can play moast pluked instraments sorry for spelling...

  • Yeah, I'm thinking of buying a Sitar and I've been playing Guitar for seven years- I reckon it would really help bending strength- we'll see.....

  • I played guitar for several years and recently took up the sitar. It helps very little, western music and Indian music are extremely different and to seriously learn will take time. Playing guitar does help for the callas though, because you should already have some built up from playing. It also helps with pulling the string, because it's easier to anticipate where the next note is. Taking up the sitar won't be like taking up any other stringed instrument it will take years of devotion to play.

  • This woman rocks! respect ;-)

  • you look like a dumbass lol

  • haha that wasn't funny...

  • yes it was
