  • Poor fucking rat poor poor fucking rat.

  • Why the Fuck are the creature put me Hre ?

  • I'm on that weird part of YouTube again .__.

  • @TobyAudienceMember

    fuck off

  • I'll just watch one more really weird heart video...

  • @Zatinie you and me are both in the same situation :)

  • Holy fuck it's like that movie repo men...

  • Hay, im 31 and expecting my first massive heartattack right around 55 or so. Can I order my new heart valves now?

  • it survived for the duration of the test..poor rat

  • why would you put a heart in the abdomen of another rat? I dont understand...does this mean that the rat has his original heart and this new one in his belly? ? Which cells did they strip? myocytes? endothelium? did they just keep the skeleton and the valves? so many questions so few answers!!

  • Two words, holy shiz!!!!!!!!!

This shiz is for real....... What next on the body list?

  • @kinshin86 kidney, but they already have an inkjet printer that can literally print our a new kidney for you (or conceivably any organ for that matter, since besides the brain, the kidney is probably the most complex organ in the body). The technology is still many years from clinical trials in humans though.

  • ........did no one catch the part where she said "the heart of the dead rat was put in the stem cells of hundreds of newborn rats"?

  • Jeez! I never realized that rats were so important! As a boy, my friends and I used to plink them with our Crosman 760 air rifles. They plink real good!

  • cool! 0:27

  • when the blood flooded in to those empty wessels.... Legen...wait for it.....DARY!

  • whats does a hybrid mean? it can beat forever?

  • @1Rockyboxer1 A hybrid is something basically made from different parts. For instance if a horse mated with a zebra, the offspring would be a hybrid.

  • HOW MANY RATS WHERE HURT BY THIS?

  • @DokuChrome Who fucking care's?! Like you wouldn't kill a million rats at a push of a button if your life dependent on it!

  • @DokuChrome all of them =) Sleep tight.

  • @cthulify lmao....your such a dick!

  • Cool and disgusting

  • omg this is insane

  • im no tree hugger, but that was a little fucked up

  • god forbids this.

  • @ftart that's why god is a fag =)

  • wow .... holy crap were all fked now xD bionic robots with hearts - i can see it coming =P

  • WTF

  • that is nasty what is wrong with them what the hell thats is just wrong

  • @zem36

Why don't you just remove yourself from the gene pool. Scientific breakthroughs are always bound to controversy. Discovery of human anatomy was regarded as inhuman at the time while now it's commonplace, and it's saved millions of lives.

  • basically their making zombies right? :S

  • make a cockroach HUGE take out heart give to us live for ever muhahahaha!!

  • the woman who narrates this is annoying nd a heartless cow!

  • I got this hearth at wallmart! only 10$

  • POWERTHIRST has nothing on this.

  • Mutants?

  • I want my heart to become a heart that can live and beat forever.

  • same with my brain.. and all other organs, we will remake god's faulty and defective creations... if there is a god lol

  • and overpopulate the world even more, great idea son.

  • who says we will be living on Earth, by then a lot of us will already be outta here.

  • HOLY SHIT they can make like a super heart and make humans able to run FOREVER!

  • screw powerthirst hahaha

  • haha lol... The pigs, rats, and sheeps can make these parts mutch faster, easyer and cheeper... It is really an expencive fix to something stupid.

  • notice how they said: "The rat survived for the duration of the tests" They didn't say if it survived after that though...

  • thank you Obama :)

  • he's researching this?

  • DUDE!!!

WE can really achieve something using this technique!

  • baulin

  • hyper bien :)

  • They need to pick up the pace!

  • Awesome *_* imagine the lifes that can be saved :D

  • yes that would really save many lives if this question would only be answered:

where would they get millions of human stem cells?

they said they took the stem cells for newborn rats right?

  • human make stem cells too.

Bone marrow and from human embryos is two of common places i think.

  • Yes, I know.

    My question was rhetorical.

How ethical would you think the process be?

Bone marrow may have stem cells but do you think it would suffice for the process.

  • well yea just get them from human embryos then.

yea i know the process is very similar to cloning.

but who cares about ethical issue.

  • good for you!

at least it'll be alright for you, when you realize you are missing some of your organs and you don't know where you are and what happened.

    that's life anyway. :)

  • dude what the fuck are u on about

  • ethics of life... you said who cares, right?

many who doesn't care just harvest from those who are willing or not.

i hope no one harvests from you because i really thought you did not care.

  • i was never on about harvesting human organs.

i still dont know what u were on about. the stem cells can be harvested from human embyo and they will never get to the point where there a foetus etc.

i mean there abortion kills them at later stages then what is needed to harvest stem cells.

  • no... why would you use someone else stem cells when u can use your own. and also they will probally use a pigs heart since its similar in size as the scaffolding.

i dont see any point of stealing some ones stem cell since they are gentically different to you.

  • You can use stem cells other than yours the problem that would arise would only be similar to organ donation.

It would be advisable to use your own stem cells but it won't be enough since you need the same mass as the organ you need to grow.

The controversy that would arise on this advancement would just be like the treatment for spinal cord injury : source of the very rare stem cells. The issues Illegal organ harvesting has always been there anyway.

  • And BTW, they were only to test a pig's heart to try the process on a similar sized heart.

The pig's heart has a similar structure but nonetheless it is very different.

I hope this will clarify things.

  • You can get stem cells from the fluid and the embryonic sack when someone is born. They don't have to kill the embryos themselves now, and you can pay to get the stem cells saved in case something happens to your child later on that could be fixed by stem cells.

  • but that's no fun

  • maybe they can recreate a new fucking voice box for the narrator.. holy fack

  • @chuckr166

na you would need to replay the brain to have any decent effect!

  • Coooooooooooooool...

  • yea i know its a breakthhrough for humanity to save lifes and im looking foreward to that but.. its also experimenting on animal =(

  • peta is a terrorist organization that has been outlawed by theUS government.

the only animals i want to see harmed

    are peta members.

  • I hate that fucking woman's voice. Really detracts from the feel of the video

  • lispy isnot it

  • That's a really cool breakthrough. Hopefully they can build on it for other stuff.

You ever notice how animal rights activists never go to Hells Angels meets and tell them that leather is bad?

  • maby for a few thousand dollars they can implant the growth bag in your belly cavity

and you can grow the heart inside yourself

    reducing the cost.

  • yeah they dont do it because there big sissys

  • Hurray for Science!

  • Finally

  • I love how people bitch and moan about animal testing, yet as soon as a rat runs through their house they go buy a rat trap and kill that bastard.

Yes, lets all ban rat traps, pesticides, etc. Lets all live in filth with cockroaches, rats, and other pests.

A 1000 rats dying to create something that can save millions of lives seems like a good sacrifice to me. 26 dogs, if I recall correctly, were killed to make insulin. Can you animal rights morons seriously say insulin shouldn't have been made?

  • Well said. PETAactivists do not realize that many of them wouldn't even be alive today if it weren't for animal testing. We are the superior species and it is not as though these animals die in vain. The pursuit of knowledge is what has greatly increased our standard of living, our life spans, and allowed so many of us to occupy this planet.

  • Funnily enough, one of the head honchos of PETA is an insulin dependent diabetic, and insulin was (like most medical treatments) first tested on animals.

Of course, there are many hypocrites in such organisations, although I do agree with some of their efforts, if she wants to show her devotion to her cause surely she would cease using such "cruel" products.

  • The following is just a joke.

I give rats an open invitation to do the same to us, it's only fair.

  • no its not a joke! Its a free world and they are more than welcome to try!

  • Very interesting this is.

  • Wanted, lab technician to shave rat's. Must be hard working, industrtious and self motivated. Barber exerpeince a plus.

  • lol

  • ok this is just sick serrious

  • wow so this means we will never die again =|

  • if you've got millions.

  • lol i never seen a million even in my dreams

  • You can't replace your brains.

  • lol who needs brains

  • or not yet you cant.

  • not necessarily. there's plenty other causes of death other than those related to the heart...

  • true true

  • wtf that is the most confusing video ever made in youtube

  • Poor rats :(

  • is this the beginning of eternal life? :O (or at least to double it)

  • Hang on.

No-one really likes animal testing. (worthy tho this is)

Our prisons are full to overflowing...

Maybe there's a way to solve both these problems at once!

  • killing animals to save people, not such a crime, kill 1000 rats or your own mother, which one should y pick?

  • Me personally? I'd pick the rats every time. I'm pro-animal-testing.

But, suffering from cystic fibrosis, it would be hypocritical of me not to be.

Your tone came across as slightly accusatory there. Hope you don't mind me saying.

I'd still rather see testing done on prisoners. It would make going to prison scary again which would reduce crime and it would speed up research as they could skip straight to human trials!

    Win/win!

  • Criminals are generally not right in the head. Not-right-in-the-head folk don't go thinking rationally about things, and therefore will not be scared by scariness.

Plus, that's just more punishment, which is unfair and completely ineffective.

  • But I still think that not right in the head is not fluent english, I c ur point tho.

  • You fucking Nazi asshole should be shot!

  • Humanity is the answer for me tho, but I understand your opinion.

  • Thanks, although I wasn't being entirely serious. Just felt mischievous and fancied writing something inflammatory. Enjoy your day!

  • haha, nothings wrong with fancying some text, Good day 2u2!

  • Gasoline. Oh, and wood!

How's that for saying something inflammatory?

  • Gas. I like gas.

  • I would attack the person forcing me to pick.

  • You have no point.

  • 0:28 so creepy and disgusting

  • The whole point of this is when they can have a steady supply of stem cells; without killing fetuses, they can use any heart, liver , kidney without dealing with body rejection since the patient will be using its onw DNA via the stem cells

  • they dont use those kinds of rats, the breed them in labs....the only use rats cuz their small, reproduce quickly, have a short lifespan, and their easy to control....it doesn't have to do with their DNA or anything else.... almost all the vertebrates have the same basic structure so if it works on a rat, it might work on a human, why do u think they make u dissect a frog?

  • I really hate her voice. It's annoying as fuck.

  • isnt it!

reminds me of Welsh and Swedish accents rolled into one

  • nah bitch, her voice is angelic. don't disrespect my woman.

  • impressive science

  • What, so killing rats is only allowed if you're a cat or an owl?

"But they're killing to survive" you reply - well, what do you think this is? Experimenting on rats to eventually create reliable heart transplants, thus reducing the number of deaths due to lack of organ donors to zero. You're allowed to dislike the method they're using, and you can debate the ethics of it, but kindly don't play the "we have no right to snuff out their life!" card. These are RATS we're talking about, after all.

  • as we all know, the humans are much more worthy than everything else, why? Could it be the intellect or the massive ego? Even though it might seem brutal, I'd rather see this research on humans. Why? We need help, so we grant help. Also, we are overpopulating the world, spreading our "advanced technology" with it's waste like cancer on the planet

  • yes! finally.

waking up on a sidewalk in bejing without a kidney can't be fun.

  • i'm happy I've a hearttransplant from a human don't give me such things xD

  • ohh nice

    keep up the good work

tons of people still need a better heart

  • man i read this shit in a popular science mag about a year or so ago.

  • I know, I did a paper on this last year. This is old news.

  • That is so amazing.

  • Wow, that is seriously amazing. I can't for the life of me understand why people are so against this. The applications for this kind of research are just unbelievable.

  • I agree, tho the presantation of this AWESOME news is somewhat bland and unspectacular.

  • I'm fascinated with this. I wonder what area of science this is in? I would love to study and do research like this.

  • Like.. thousands of people being saved by this?

  • this is not playing God. God gave us a brain, we should use it to help others and relieve suffering.

  • there is no god

  • They said they took the stems cells from NEWBORN rats. So these were ADULT stem cells?

    Thats quite an accomplishment!

  • this brings the imaginary fear of zombies to live they revived a nonliving heart back to life with steam cells

  • .. FUCK

  • planets already over populated with humans we live much longer than are ancestors ,world system wars were invented to diminish are numbers but still we breed faster than those that die ,world resource's will not keep up at this rate now this transplant will be on every oap's list after hip replacements ,a saying is one's happiness is another's suffering and this saying is becoming more true with every life enhancing break though

  • True. And it looks disgusting as well...

  • calm down it can help ppl andf its not like ur gonna go up to a person and say "hey look i have a fake heart that lets me live" its hidden remember

  • Still looks insanely weird, and we're all going to start cannibalizing sooner or later. Doesn't matter. :P

  • ..lol if in the Near future....god forbid....I get an Heart Transplant like this one...lol......i would die of Excitement...anywayzzzzz.... :P ....but thats just meeee...hehe

  • fucken awesome

  • frankenstein ftw!

  • exactly!

  • A new heart?

    Can't I just have a new body?

    :)

  • fat ass

  • freaky

  • fuck i feel bad for the rats com on what they do to u

  • comeee onn

people kill rats everyday just for being in their houses

  • people also kill rats when they feed snakes lol

  • give us life threatening diseases.

  • totaly agreed, i love science cuz it helps people and has helped me a lot but thats just rediquolous, leave the rats alone :(

  • Saying that makes you an idiot. Period.

  • thats my opinion you fucktard, you cant change it, douchebag

  • This is so awesome

  • These people are doing an amazing job. In the future, long waiting lines to get new organs will be a thing of the past.

  • for the duration of the test lol XD

  • lol, yeah

  • The presenter needs elocution lessons.

She is incredibly difficult to listen to with her sing-song delivery.

  • Well said. She has a terrible voice for this stuff :(. I hate it :( :S

  • would you rather it be the all state guy? or maybe some model or something? Lol that would be distracting..

  • i might live to see 200

  • so does this mean that in the future when a person dies cuz there heart stops beating can then change it n put a new 1 n make them come back 2 life??? i am NOT trying to be funny or anything like that but i really want 2know

  • appart from your attrocious grammar, then to a certain extent - the answer to your question is yes.

although from what i could understand, then the idea would be more in the way of making 'organ farms' ahead of time, so you wont have to replace organs that have already failed, but can swap them out the moment they start to show signs of trouble (a bit replacing a car part not when it blew up, but when it started showing signs of malfunction)

  • ohh awesome thank you !!! ohh and BTW u misspelled "atrocious" u spelled it (attrocious) with n extra T lol yeah i do use bad grammar but that is only because i am not writing a School paper or anything like that !!! DUDE its YOUTUBE!! lol

  • your right

    ;)

  • You shouldn't point out somebody's grammar flaws if you make grammar mistakes while commenting about their own mistakes... Particularly in the same sentence in which you pointed it out, you spelt "apart" and "atrocious" wrong...

  • If your IQ is below 90 you really shouldn't have subscribed to this channel.

If you are braindead a new heart really won't help you.

  • You can only sustain clinical death for so long, but yes, hypothetically, if someone was having gradual heart failure you could "create" a new heart for them.
