  • Sorry, forgot to thank GrimlyFormingPW for the great video. Excellent collection of lovely actresses of the best era of film's leading ladies. I love that Benny Goodman music too!

  • I love the 40's. Just goes to show that women could look sexy without baring all, be nicely dressed, and no fake body parts. The likes of Hedy, Susan, Lana et al will never be matched again.

  • 我喜欢美国40年代的漂亮女人

  • Is it Rose-Mary Clooney at 4:08

  • @MsBillyLou That is Lizabeth Scott

  • @GrimlyFormingPW oh thx. she looked like clooney to me the she was placed.

  • who is the woman at 2:38?

  • @AylaO922 Jeanne Crain

  • i love this era too...but to be fair these are professional portraits...a lot of pics we see of celebs today are papparazzi photos that try to capture the most embarrasing shots not the most glamorious.

  • They're all beautiful <3 people then were so better than actresses now. They're more inspiring, talented, beautiful and amazing! These were the decades :') wish i was alive then ..

  • Who's the lady at 01:02???? She's gorgeous!!!!

  • @ClaireeBearrx That's Theresa Wright

  • I love this, great pictures! I have always loved the old days- people were actually interested in being a better person and not show every bit of themselves off! All these women are beautiful and many (to me) are better looking than our stars of today. Great music too :)

  • The 1940's were a part of the golden age of Hollywood.

After seeing these actresses, it is easy to see why.

  • Who's the woman at 9:30?

  • @XWoodchuckleX Carol Landis

  • @GrimlyFormingPW Thanx

  • I love this era :)

  • who's the actress with the hair over her eye, is that the actress jessica rabbit was based off, just curious, this decade showed women could be classy and elegant and still be extremely sexy without baring it all, love retro styles so beautiful

  • @lovelydiva06 That is Veronica Lake. Her "peek-a-boo" hairstyle was very popular, and copied by women in the 40's (like Farrah Fawcett's feathered look in the 70's or Jennifer Aniston's "Rachel" in the 90's). The war department asked Lake to change the style because women working in machine shops were getting it stuck in the equiptment.

  • i always believed that the movie stars then are more sophisticated and classy than what we have in this 20th century. The stars nowadays are trashy! They don't even know how to dress up nor comb their hair...ok, it's a fad/fashion so they say but they should act glamorous at least. I still believed they are trashy. Period.

  • I work in the entertainment industry in LA and my biggest regret is that I wasn't born a couple decades earlier so I could have participated during this, the true "Golden Age of Hollywood." I wouldn't give you a dime for a boxcar load of "actresses/starlets" today. The actresses of the 30s, 40s and 50s were then and will always and forever be the most sensual, feminine, classy and beautiful women. Hate to nitpick but you should have put the name of the actress below their photos.

    Thanks again.

  • My Mom still talks about Veronica Lake.... hair style.

many girls in school tried to style their hair like hers.

  • Hey..who is the lady at 45 secs?? Shes beautiful...

  • That's Ella Raines...one of my favs :)

  • Lol. I see. Who is that at 07:18? You should do a 1950's edition..

  • Great ...thoroughly enjoyed it !....not to quibble but the shot of Lisabeth Scott at 4:05 looks more like early 50's ...

  • Im a huge fan of the 40s i really wish I was around then. Deanna Durbin is a favourite of mine! But I love of these amazing women. Teresa Wright looks as lovely as ever at 1.41! the last pic of Vivien is one of my favs of her!

  • What's the name of the first song? and who is it by?

  • "I'll Get By (As Long as I Have You)"

  • Love it, only I wish there was a list of the actresses so I know who I'm looking at.

  • By far the sexiest decade in the history of American women. Shows you don't have to be slutty to literally ooze sex appeal. Ella Raines and Veronica Lake were my favorites. Thanks for this slide show! It is much appreciated!

  • Gene Tierney at 2:11 stunning.

  • and at 8.12 - wowzah!

  • Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • That was really well done, I love the music!!xx
