I'm unable to use my HD2 as a webcam can you please make a video to about it Web Cam Features I was very excited to buy this 3 in one device being very dissapointed in the quality of my other webcams
HD2 is better (7MP still pics, HDMI compatibility via docking station, greater light sensitivity, etc.). The only advantage of the HD1 is the OLED screen.
At the same price - the HD2 is the better cameracorder
these videos are great, but I had a question. How much greater are the features of the HD2 vs. the HD1A. I wanna save a little money and buy the HD1, but im not sure how much I will regret it in the future. Any information on the two would be great from anyone
@TravelScooterLondon Bought the HD2 back in 2007. I still have it and use it to this day. It's a great size camera for travel, but lacks high quality video.
Pros: Size and form factor, shoots in hd 720p as well as SD video modes. Can also take still images while recording video (has about a 2 second delay during video and picture times). Shoots well in good lighting. video file formats are shot in mpeg4 and work great for quicktime and mac users. Good for uploading straight to youtube.
Cons: Difference in sd quality and HD quality video isn't much. Video becomes extremely grainy in low lighting situations. Picture quality is pretty bad. After 2 years of use a small electric short in the lcd screen causes it to go white at certain times.
In conclusion, back in 07 this was a decent hd camera for it's size, but as everyone knows technology has come a long way in only 3 years. I would recommend a newer model Sanyo, Sony, or Canon HD camera.
@smearsmell do not buy hd1 .it has an oled screen/ organic light emitting diode screen .which is extremely unreliable .the screen can go at any time .with the vpc hd2 they use a lcd screen due to the unreliability of oled screen .check the internet you will soon find this out.sanyo should have done a product recall on vpc hd1.my email susuki4@hotmail.co.uk
so the only thing I really fear is motion jag. how well does this camera hold up when it comes to motion smoothness. If sanyo is making something that can handle intense stuff like cranes and steadycams and lowlight, I think it would fill a temporary niche in the indie film buzz
you are probably a really amazing individual. I could be wrong but it sounds like you speak english japanese and french maybe more... you're video is very accurate, i have a jvchd100 its giant. I need a tiny one, sanyo is a humble giant i suppose.

Greetings:
I think that High Definition video in these small pocketable camcorders is still in the infancy stage.
On a 8 gig SD card, you can do 2 hours of HD video quality.
Its not enough for a professional session.
Let's see what Sanyo will bring out on the HD3 model?
Regards Robert from Montreal, Canada

The advantages of the HD2 over the HD1a are:
1. 7MP vs 5MP Still Images
2. HDMI terminal on docking station
3. High Sensitivity Mode

Please have a look at the new SANYO XACTI CA65 !!!
EXCELLENT CODEC H.264 !!! not in these 2"old model"...
I'm a owner of CA65 and I'm REALLY suprise of the quality ;-)))
lotus3232 4 years ago
The VPC-CA65 was introduced into North America as the VPC-E1.
The E1 is Sanyo's WATERPROOF Cameracorder and uses the AVC / H.264 MPEG-4 file format. *
*(approximately 25% smaller file size than typical MPEG-4 files)
