If the caller's point was that the religiosity of the 79 was an indication of the way the country should be going, i.e to being a "Christian nation", the response should be that being religious is not orthogonal to being a secularist and certainly does not mean that one must strive for a theocracy, which petty much is what Ashley said.

Low IQs have a difficult time reading, comprehending and remembering texts so rely on smarter people to interpret things for them and tell them what to believe. Reading historical anything is a chore to these people, they don't look it up. Believing fantasy is much easier than finding reality.

I may be wrong, but I think the quote about the Bible being the basis for American government was by John Adams, not Thomas Jefferson. Jefferson was much more erudite and intelligent than Adams, in my opinion.
