@MrBadfish2 Actually we go around all over the place, sure some people don't like seeing others in their yards, but most residence do not mind. Very friendly people, the ranges and mountains near town are open to climb from what I've learned.
Visit Wyoming..and Montana, and you'll see the difference. Colorado is very privatized now. Montana and Wyoming took steps to prevent people from buying up everything so the public can use the land without "asking permission"
@MrBadfish2 I don't understand how I am waisting any ones time, for I take my own time to comment and I am not waisting yours since you have taken your own time to comment back at me, now insulting me and making so sense since my comments are as detailed as I make them and anyone with common sense could take the time to figure out what I said. Any words you say past this are invalid for your argument is invalid as well. Good day to you.
@Yetislayer43 No it wasnt filmed there. But it's the hotel that inspired Stephen King to write the book. It's supposedly haunted, but I didnt experience anything unsual while I visited. Wished I had, would have made for a neat experience.
i spent every summer in estes. used to want to live there, but then i realized that the reason i loved it so much was that is such a beautiful contrast to texas. i prefer to vacation there.
@BIGTIMBERFILMS Cosigned. I live in Texas too. Visited Estes Park for the first time last year and Telluride this year. I LOVE colorado, I want to visit every year, but I dont think i'd want to live there. Despite the magical beauty, I think I'd get depressed there. I'll stay in Austin and stick to visiting every year.
@Lavern4101 Austin is great. Love hiking and climbing in the area. Im down Houston. Hopefully or not much longer. it sucks here. I wouldn't mind living in Boulder.
@BIGTIMBERFILMS I dont blame you for not liking Houston lol. It's humid and ugly. Austin is a much nicer town with lots of culture, live music and such. Plus there's lots of surrounding hill country for scenic beauty. I used to live near Houston (Texas City) and I'd never go back. For me, Austin is a nice headquarters home base while I try to visit my favorite vacation spots a few times a year like Colorado, Hawaii, Vegas and the like.
@ralphiehaber Visited Estes last year and loved it. But yeah I could see how it would get boring if I lived there. We went in Febuary and most the town was shut down. It was a wonderful quiet, scenic vacation get away but I dont think i'd want to live there.
audra just died in downtown estes from a climbing accident. rip audra 6-17-2010. it is beautiful there, and some of the most fun ive ever had in my life (got back yesterday) just dont climb the cliff to the the right of city hall. not safe. they will probably close it off now.
@Lavern4101 17, but she didnt fall, she was on the ground next to her boyfriend, and a kid was climbing on the side, or on the top, i dont know, i didnt see where he was when it happened, but he stepped on a 30 lb rock and it fell and hit her...
I went there once in my life, but a french man, that's a rare thing to do... I loved it so much. People are so nice everywhere I went to USA, the countryside...
i recomend going there and staying at the rams horn village resort. the main street is Elkhorn. and there are ALOT of curves on the way up the mountain. your ears WILL pop.
Anyone who hasnt been there -- you just gotta go -- that fast running water is the Big Thompson River -- fantastic Trout stream!!! Go for it, everyone

Such bullshit.. the whole area is privatized now. You can't go anywhere without tresspassing on someone's land. It's retarded

@MrBadfish2 I wasn't mentioning Wyoming or Montana, just my thought on what you said about Estes. Nor was I talking about all of Colorado.

I grew up in Estes and only left recently. My family owns a few restaurants in town as well as a tshirt/gift shop.
I can tell you honestly this place is AMAZING to visit in the summertime, but living here YEAR ROUND is a whole other deal. SO BORING.
Everything in town closes at 8pm if they're even open at all
