I can recall first hearing this when I was about 5 or 6 years old. It was featured on the Lucky Strike Hit Parade. It's a vague memory but this particular rendition always maintains a haunting beauty all its own. I also recall being able to still buy 78RPM singles during that era. That record is really in good condition! For many a year, this rendition was never played on radio. I finally bought a CD more than 10 years ago simply because it had this on it. Thanks so much for uploading this.
