  • thumbs up if you grew up with the mills brothers!

  • The real music is brought me here, and my good taste!

  • What the hell is Nostalgia Critic. I came here cause I dig The Mills Brothers.

  • This is one "cruel" video. =p

  • Damn i wished there was a HQ version. But i kinda like the old fashion styled scratch´n sound too. And i was born in the ´90 lol

  • my good taste of music brought me here :)

  • This video went viral on Korea, North

  • I brought myself here because this is good music.

  • classic karaoke? woohoo!

  • I can imagine the audience in the theaters singing along as they follow the bouncing ball.

Would this play before or after the newsreel?

  • does anybody know the chords for this?

  • No vocal group has ever done it better than these guys. I only hate the last few second of this video was cut off.

  • The only thing that made me sad is when I thought of the age of these men.

  • the emo kids of the 30's

  • @Xcrashhx lol. that did make me laugh. haha =) aw. smile. ^_^!!!

  • these guys actually got better as they got older. i usually like the clarity of a young voice but these guys were diff.

  • Talent is timeless.

  • now that is talent, and show me some one that can replicate a trumpet with the human voice like that these days,... very few!!!

  • @JD1379 Kutiman - Trumpet woman

  • Can you imagine a modern movie theater audience sing along today! Just follow the bouncing ball - Yeah, right!

Love this early precursor to the now familiar “I’m Just a Gigolo/I Ain't Got Nobody” medley!

  • Man, this is way cool! Thank you!!

  • thumbs up if you're foreveralone.jpg.

  • @WickedNavajo love that meme

  • My first year of college my dad bought himself a victrola. and a stack of mills brothers records. I loved it! Listened to all of them a lot. Glad to see they were filmed.

  • Bittersweet song, really charming. If you start pausing around 1:25 onwards, you can see the 'hidden' text behind the bouncing ball mentions "weirdo video", which is where this video originated from - must be some kind of compression glitch. Shame, because I was looking for some cryptic 1930's secret messages... Anyway, thanks for posting this gem, Weirdo.

  • First emo song.

  • Thumbs up if Nostalgia Critic brought you here out of dumb curiosity where that clip from his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cartoon Review came from!

  • i ain´t got nobody for 6 years :´(

  • @rod3067 its ok dude

  • I sing sweet love songs all the time :(

  • omg old! but good

  • olde skool karaoke

  • I love, love, love,....love, them!

What a wonderful legacy for them and their families.

The Mills Brothers demonstrate"real talent" is timeless, and this recording absolutely proves it. And, they simply.....carry me.....away....

  • The Mills Brothers at their peak!!!

Before the brother passed away and the father took over.

    GREAT!!!

  • "Eyegor!"

    "Frodrick."

  • La nombran en rayuela de julio cortazar.. exactamente en el club de la serpiente. genial

  • Awesome super rare! Thanks!

  • AWESOME... what talent...

  • Thumbs up if Nostalgia Critic brought you here.

  • @ReiTheSage Which episode did he mention this in?

  • @gman8744 the teenage mutant ninja turtle review.

  • @ReiTheSage i watch nostalgia critic, but which one was this from?

  • Holy shit this video has some weird stuff... Why is that guy with guitar hitler? And what are words behind that jumping ball?

  • @shikatronas I see them too! There's another text in black type that you can see whenever the ball bounces through it!

  • The Nostalgia Critic brought me here.

  • @electricmastro HAHAHAAHHAHAHA ME TOOO!!!!!!

  • @electricmastro Same here!!

  • older is better :)

  • Thanks for posting this. I've never heard the original version of this song, only the medley with "Just A Gigolo" so I was rapt to see it up here. Great version, too! They had such mellow voices and great... scat, is it? Doobie doobie doo etc! Awesome!

  • wow ..so young ,Harry's slim but they're great !

  • anlee617, perhaps you know this, but the bouncing ball was also used with well known sing along songs in movie theaters to warm up the audience. Mike59382, I think DLR kept the fun spirit of Louis Prima and just updated it.

  • Whoooaaa, that's really old for karaoke 8| Especially since John Jr. died in 1936 and he's in this~ I never would have thought this would have existed since it would have only really been shown in theatres due to there being no television, but all the same, it's awesome that it does!

  • 1930's karaoke? Very cool. Live 4 part into one microphone? Priceless.

  • sounds something in a scary movie :p... like in bioshock

  • I love that little bouncing ball!

  • @anlee617 : That little ball was also used on Mitch Miller's TV show, "Sing Along with Mitch" from 1960-1966. The band would play the tunes, with Mitch conducting. Every song played on his show had the lyrics at the bottom of the screen, with that little bouncing ball for each song. Kind of a pre-karaoke thing, where people could sing along at home.

  • Louie Prima remade this song into it's more famous version than David Lee Roth remade it again and officially ruined it.

  • Aunt Kay , this is for you! :) I Love you!

  • we ain't got music like this any more with human trumpet but now we have Justin

    Bieber and I'm 13

  • very nice, rare indeed!!!!!!!!!

  • what about handtrumpet?

  • ajjajajajajja WTF ajjajaja

  • hmmm inkspots competite with them with that song

  • Great harmony, great song. Is that a ukulele accompaniment? I only see four strings. Thanks for a great upload.

  • These guys go back THAT far??? I spent the entire 1960s listening to them (well, amongst other things, lol!): they are one of the reasons i love good, tight harmony to this very day. What a great bunch of True Troopers. Wonderful stuff, to be sure.

  • first note is b?

  • is there an audio recording of this video somewhere that I can download? I can't get that first note out of my head where they go "Iiiiiii ain't got"-- so 1930s, so chilling and cool.

  • Is he playing the Nasal Trumpet?

    Pretty dang good!

  • Why cant all black people be like this?

  • damn, that's amazing

  • Mgnificent !!!!

  • a total classic..bb

  • wow...david lee roth stole this.

  • louis prima then david lee roth

  • @ItsAskNotAxe and Village People too

  • Awesome! My dad turned me on to the Mills Brothers and this video is really cool!

  • I love this song :)

Eventhough I wasn't even born in that time, well more like 60 years after lol.

But I still think its a great song.

  • 0:44 ".vid" in the ball, weird.

  • I had TOTALLY forgotten about those bouncing balls! I remember them from the 1950's. I love this. The MIlls Brothers were from my parents time, but, their harmonies still get to me (I usually did NOT like my parent's music--and that still holds -- Glenn MIller and Sammy Kaye don't get it for me to this day (O: ) The MIlls Brother's Glow Worm was my first favorite song, I still love that!

  • Can someone tell me if they made a recording of this that made it on an album? I can't find this song anywhere

  • @JRR951

It's on a collection of their early stuff from the '30s, before they got super big with 'Til Then and Paper Doll. It's 4 or 5 cds, there's some stuff on it with Louis Armstrong if I remember right, and some with Bing Crosby, who they had a close professional relationship with since the mid-20s. They and Bing pioneered close mic singing, are the progenitors of all modern singings, heavily influencing Dean Martin who was a huge influence on Elvis Presley.

  • awesome, I love the old films! too bad they don't show these on tv

  • Wonderful post! Thanks it's a classic:)

  • oh shut up, TheGOOdNews. go schlep your noise somewhere else

  • Jehovah

The personal name of the only true God. His own self-designation. Jehovah is the Creator and, rightfully, the Sovereign Ruler of the universe. Jehovah is translated from the Hebrew Tetragrammaton, יהוה, which means He Causes to Become. These four Hebrew letters are represented in many languages by the letters JHVH or YHWH. Mark 1: 14 Now after John was put under arrest Jesus went into Gal´i•lee, preaching the good news of God

  • Incorrect!

יהוה, is most likely spoken Jahwe. So if you don't know, what you are talking about...

  • Open your eyes to the lies you live with...

  • This song made my day!

Jealous that I didn't find it on my own, and post it myself, but thanks none the less for posting it! :D

  • I love the boys Mills.

  • i aint got nobody

  • Hey that one guy starts beat-boxing at 1:45!

    O_o Cool

  • If thats beat boxing ill eat my f***ing hat!

  • look at the music videos today and look at them back then

    XS

  • Don't know why the one in the middle aint got nobody. He's cute as can be!!

  • Interesting to see just how far back "Just A Gigolo" originated...how long before Louis Prima was this?

  • Prima was 1956

  • Louis Prima did a medley of the songs "Just a gigolo" and "I aint got nobody".

  • My fucking theme song..

  • Hermoso, que lastima que la basura que hay hoy, no apendan de los verdaderos artistas. No les hacia falta tanta tecnica que en definitiva lo que ha hecho ha sido desbaratar talentos naturales y presentar seres despreciables.

  • I think this is better than the late M. Jackson, but that's jest me.

  • Do you know if this is on an album

  • @honcho14 You're just comparing them to Michael Jackson because they're black. This song is in no way similar to anything MJ has done and this is a total apples and ornages comparison.

  • @honcho14 whoa man...too far

  • great ty

  • Nice to see a video with their guitar playing brother, John Jr, on film. He died so young.

  • Interesting tidbit...Harry...the personality of the group, ended up blind from diabetes and was the first of the remaining three brothers to pass away in 1982.

  • What great harmony and talent!!! Thanks for posting real professionals.

  • anyone know the chords?

  • Absolutely amazing! Thank you for posting this!

  • C'est absolument captivant!!

  • I believe the worst thing I have ever done, on accident or on purpose, is ACCIDENTALLY rate this video one star. :(

  • i did that before too--lol, hey i live in SCHEREVILLE, not too far from you

  • @cyspy don't worry, they did away with the star system ratings :)

  • C'est absolument captivant, un vrai trésor, du talent...es bellicima y parece un pajaro en el cielo cantando con el sol con la luz, Man thats bring me in a mood to fly and skype the sky

  • This song could be great for Fallout 3 :D

  • i second that.

  • True - text: "I ain't got nobody" :D

  • ohhhh it so would.

  • This is really moving, over 75 years ago! I wish there were many more!

  • great harmonies

  • These guys had an understanding of the sonic spectrum of the devices of the era. It's clear. What a creative bunch. And Talented.

  • Woody Guthries version is better.

  • it's also a different song... duh

  • My word, How did this survive to YouTube.

We sure lucked out, Ive only been able to hear this song on Records. o.o

  • Great!!!

  • Hello Simon hope you are alive my friend!/Ron

  • Is this the original or bessie smith's one?

  • awesome...i've been trying to find this for ten years or so.

  • Nobody. Nooo-body. Noooooo-body. That bouncing ball speaks volumes.

  • From Tiger Rag through Cab Driver, I don't think these guys could make a bad record. I wish they were as known and respected today as they should be.

  • IT'S THE BEEESTT! THE BEST OF THE BEST, THE BEST THE BEST! LALALAA!...A....A..

    it's kewl.

  • I hate karaoke lyrics :D

  • AWESOME=)

  • Loving it!

  • in the 30's there was real talent unlike today i love that message its soooooooooo true nobody cares 4 me 2 :-(

  • Does someone knwo a version of this song, wich is a little bit newer? This is such a amazing song.

  • yeah louis prima

  • David Lee Roth from Van Halen

  • Also the country singer Dick Curless. He recorded the song twice, and the second version charted as a Billboard Country hit in the late 1960's.

  • IIIIIIII Aint got no boooody !!!XD

  • So are these the originals...great song!

  • Beautiful

  • omg i luv this song i never saw a video i really luv it. wasnt it onetime in a commercial?

  • nobody cares for me yea! jazz pop rules

  • mo fuc ing nice

  • Fabian Doulton of New Orleans sings this song all the time at Schiro's Restaurant on the corner of St. Roch and Royal in the French Quarter !

  • I can't find this song on mp3. Only this video.

  • It doesn't appear to have been recorded, at least if you consider the "Chronological Mills Brothers" collection to be complete as it claims to be.

  • Mayby this video was recorded before 1931.

  • Yeah, me too. It's a pity because song's great. What's interesting, Louis Prima combined this song with elder 'Just a Gigolo'

  • It's great!

I'm lookin' for 'Chinatown', also sung by Mills Bros. Is there any hope to see the video of this great song?

  • if you can't find it I can send some of their songs!

  • I have a lot of their songs but I'm looking for a videos like this. Especially for 'Chinatown' - if it exists...

  • Thanks for the video! 2 thumbs up for Mills Brothers~~<3~~!!

  • As I understand it, the early 1930's. -WV

  • This is why I love Youtube-the chance to see old cool stuff like this that I'd never see otherwise. And I love the Mills Brothers.

    Thanks!

  • The Mills bothers were deservedly -super famous in those days. One of the most popular groups of this century along with the platters among others.

  • wow--- they were sooooo fantastic! How too bad that they weren't born 50 years later - they'd have been a huge hit!! Besides the music, they were ADORABLE!

  • wow wow wow! extraordinary! thank you so much for this, it's just amazing! =)

  • Now they call it Kareoke,Love it.

  • These cats are my all time favorites. This is AWESOME.

  • w00t!

  • For YEARS I have been trying to find this song...never did until now. Thank you!

  • *gapes*bows* Oh..my..goodness! Thanks a thousand times for posting someting so ephemeral and timelessly beautiful!

  • great clip with the tenor guitar!!!!

  • I had never heard of the Mills Brothers until last year when I was asking my Mom who is 73 what music she likes. She said she loves the Mills Brothers and Kay Starr, Connie Francis (who I saw in San Francisco this year) and many more. I even found out Harry Mills was who Dean Martin styled himself after. That is right, this is why youtube matters. I am so happy to have it!

  • divine!

  • i love the mills brothers thanks so much.great

  • Great clip. Thanks for posting.

Great artists like the Mills Brothers sure know how to exploit both the strengths and weaknesses of the technology available to them. The low fidelity of the sound systems of the time allowed them to use their voices to impersonate band instruments perfectly.

  • This is why youtube matters!
