The train makes a 6-mile run (3 miles each way). At the end of the run, there is no turntable that would swing the engine around. Therefore, the engine pulls the cars "in reverse" on the outgoing leg of the trip, then "fronts" back to the station. If you re-run the video, this will become clear about half-way through.

Thanks for the comment. Hopefully, the people in power are able to see the value in preserving historical landmarks such as Railtown 1897. Railtown has been on the list more than once in the past, and has staved off extinction so far.
