A powerful, soulful, other-worldly performance!! No one does this style of blues better!! Can lower the dynamics to a quiet whisper - captivate you, then dial up the gain and burn you where you stand!!
You can find all songs from the documentary on YouTube and there's a nice rendition of Early in the Morning on the cd The Blues. See for yourself and click the link under my user name.
@snakkajak if you check e bay, you may be able to find the dvd. i bought it a few years ago and it had some stuff that wasn't on the televised version. the dvd is called "nothing but the blues"
no i do not have that. i will presume that u mean the filmore west. at any rate i will endeavor to find that cd. i have a lot of eric. thanks so much for the message and ec video. dave
@skydogjp123 I would venture to say that theres no reason to look. Just as ray charles never looked at his notes....lol Ya feel it and basically the pentotonic (spell check) is not that hard to master. Then again neither is brushing your teeth. lol just kidding....its all good
if you need to look at your guitar while you play you must be extremely new, any chip off the old block can close his eyes and play music after a couple years. whats alien about ec is his melodic phrasing.
@Fruscianteistheman i dunno man....i just bought a new guitar with a different scale length then I'm used to, def need to look down or I'll lose my place....been playing since '79, so yeah, kinda new at it
its kinda funny how he took out the lyrics of "when the girl reach the age of 18, she begin to think she's grown, and that's the kind of little girl you can never find at home" whereas he would have sang that verse in the 70s. im thinkin he's gotten a little too old here to be singing about 18 yr olds lol
I am pretty sure these sets were released just after the taping. Through PBS, but sold in 'Best Buy.' It has been broadcasted at least once, on PBS. EC also did a tour of this name in 94 I think. Very well booted. EC just does not realize the huge market for his fine fine blues. Hence the boots -"Mr C." --and not the Crossroads char-i-ty.. /or fed to hungry blues lovers all over the world.
It has never been released, it´s a Scorsese movie called "Nothing but the blues", but you can find a bootleg copi on Pirate Bay. I have nearly everything recorded with Clapton, and this recording is out of this world.
Thank you to whoever posted this! Looks like it's from the Martin Scorsese Blues documentary. I love Clapton's phrasing and intensity, and the dynamics in this selection are incredible. Live long, Eric!
those pickups on the clapton strat is Fender Lace Sensor Gold, from 2001 he changed to fender vintage noisless pickups, with visible magnets, both types are designed to reduse hum and noise.
Man... he starts FRYIN that guitar approaching 4 minutes
