The song was going great until the "singer" opened his yap. I didn't even make it as far as..."every soul a battlefield....he might work better in an Iron Maiden tribute band cause he sure as $**t can't sing Geddy Lee from 78. The only singer I've found that is close to the "original" is Arnel Pineda who replaced Steve Perry in Journey.
I think that these guys are maybe the only one in the whole f***ing world that can play this song almost in his perfection!!! ...who else can??? Sheehan, Castronovo, Petrucci maybe ...I don't know.
Malone is the best one in the band (and that is saying something). Not as great as Rush's original version (especially vocal wise), but it was spectacular nonetheless.
@winrar Well, I find him a good player, I just find that he as a musician and his style is overdone... no offense to him, but he and his style is overdone.
Sorry for my resonse, it took my an hour to write this because I am intoxicated.
@Intelligentia100 his style is overdone--but it's his style. he's been copied alot of times. paul is an amazing guitarist, he deserves more credit than he is given. same goes for alex lifeson btw.
@DennChooch This I can agree with, Lifeson is one of the most creative guitarists alive, and paul is a good player, I just think Sean Malone is the best one here (this is due to the fact I am a fretless bassist myself)
@ErrorMacros He was in both bands yes Watchtower first, but MOST people would know him from Dangerous Toys that's why I said Dangerous Toys instead of Watchtower. He is now the singer for Texas based band Broken Teeth.
I think the bassline is even greater than the guitar in this song. Still very glad to see Paul Gilbert play Rush, and it's not even one of their known songs. Love him.
@bigolekern This is my favorite song of all time. I meant how it's not one of their hits like Limelight or Tom Sawyer. I kinda like how these songs don't get as much attention though because I like the sense of isolation. When I find someone who actually knows it, it's so exciting.
the singer does very well! i would like to hear any of you do a geddy lee!

as amazingly talented as each of these musicians are in their own right, they still can't hold a candle to the absolute AWESOMENESS that is Rush.

This is cool man. good to see other musos playing Rush stuff, even though they are famous.

Fact: No one sounds like RUSH but RUSH. That's why they're RUSH.

All those great players and that's who you get to sing? Weird.

@mrpants1971 I thought he sang it well. I usually ceinge at some Rush covers bcuz of the voice but this guy is hitting the notes and sounds okay.

@Ryu12543 If you know Rush, you know this song. They aren't exactly a top 40 band after all, they're an album rock band.

@Ryu12543 True nuff. That kind of knowlege separates the Rush-o-philes from the posers.

Amazing cover, except for the vocals, Sean Malone may play as good as Geddy Lee but no one can sing a Rush song like himself.
