I visited this last week whilst on a divyadesham yatra in the Srirangam - Kumbakonam region. It was awesome. Everywhere you look you're knocked over by the huge scale and incredible craftsmanship. The huge Nandi murthi, although added much later than the time of Raja Raja, was gorgeous!
You are absolutely right. I loved the music as well as beautiful videos. I was desperately searching for info on Thanjavur famous Shiva temple because I have to visit that temple and this video came into picture and very useful. From this video I came to know that it is Brihadeeswara temple. I am very much thankful to the publisher of this Video. I liked the music so much… very melodious and also long music. I get so much peace of mind when I listen to this music. Lovely.
Only one word which I like to say is,Rajaraja,the greatest in his feat and in his wisdom.
Vedas blessed him!Vedic Rishis bestowed grace uniquely on this great son of India.
Rajaraja and Chola Kings considered them as direct descendants of Solar dynasty race or Raguvamsa which produced great personalities like God Rama and Satya Harcihandra.
who would not anybody be proud to be indian,country is blessed with the best religion,the best culture and richness but country is going down hill bcas of today's politicians.
do u all not wish to go back to old days and live that rich culture life with great kings and thier kingdoms.
They must have broken a couple of fingernails carrying and placing those big old stones!
Can anyone still make such beautiful structures today or is this art lost before brainwash? Maybe they could teach the westerners a thing or two about building properly :):):)
The music was brilliant and fitted great to the vid - wonderful living energy!
I read a little book about sacred geometry used in building churches - bet it's nothing compared to what went on here when it was being built. Thanks :):)
Thanks very much for posting this amazing video. There is also a nice article about this temple in the 'Frontline' magazine - volume 27, issue number 13, June 19 - July 02, 2010 issue.
A.K. Seshadri (formerly with Archaeologistic society of India) explains it in the book "Sri Brihadisvara: The Great Temple of Thanjavur"
The curious figure of a man with an European dress and hat on the northern wall of the Nayaka period depicts the time when Europeans were active in Tamil Nadu coast.

@goodnessofspices
Yes, Absolutely.
What you said is 100% right. We turned our civilization from kings to politicians; there came the biggest problem.
As being Indians, may be I believe we need to wait for the FIRST HAND who can change all these culprits!
Hope for the good. Mera Bharat Mahan!
