Filehippo is a easy uncluttered place to download the latest versions of the most popular freeware. Download.com has gone downhill with all their misleading crap there anymore. You can't even find the download button anymore.
@Whyiyawta Yes the good sites are getting harder to find as the proliferation of bad content continues to grow on the old internet. I feel your frustration, no one likes to be wasting their time (as downloading is time consuming enough as it is). I have used sourceforge without too many problems but am (like you) getting tired of BAD CONTENT! Thanks for your comment and good luck with your future downloads.
@tj001231 Anything is possible but one of the primary reasons I use this site is that in over seven years of downloading software I have never had an issue. The computer I download my files to scans each file for viruses prior to using the file just in case a virus may have somehow got into the downloaded file. .
