@yadpwns Ferrea. But you need some deep pockets. Just in motor parts I got 3k in alone and thats not including labor. If you want to do that buy a MR2. Will be cheaper in long run.
Very nice, I'm looking to do the same to my celica in 1-2 weeks. I've been looking for rods and pistons and no one seems to make them. Do you happens to know who makes them? Or what short shifter I could use on the stock 5sfe tranny?
@yadpwns Sorry newb but that ain't happening. It takes 4-6 weeks just to make the custom pistons from JE and thats if they make them right the first time. My wiseco's on this built took 4 weeks. JE, Wiseco, Ross, and most piston manufactures can make them. You really need stronger rods and theres eagle or pauter.
Short shifter should be on ebay,. FYI my build took about a year to get right. Has been at ATS for 5 weeks thus far just to tune, dyno, etc. 2 weeks = pipe dream
@trycatchscenario what are you using for engine management? also for the breather pipe, you replaced it with a filter on the valve cover? what does that do
@canuckaholic91 Autronic SMC is what im using and I am very impressed with it. Motec and Autronic are probably the best. AEM sucks badly. Bottom line Aussies know how to make standalone's. I had a breather filter but now I have an oil catch can to collect blow by oil. I used it due to not having a PCV on my model year car. I would recommend a oil catch can or PCV valve.
@canuckaholic91 My car never came with a pcv valve so my options were breather filter or run it back into the intake. My setup now consists of a oil catch can with one hose connected to the valve cover nipple and the other hose runs back to the breather. If your car never came with one do not install a pcv value!! I tried to on mine and it caused a lot of issues with oil pressure, etc.
Fuel Management is Autronic. ATS Racing did the tune and are the best in the toyota business around here in TX
@eclipsegsx765 You can't do a AWD swap unless you get a all trac gas tank and cut the chassis to fit the AWD driveshaft. Most 3sgte engines are beat up coming from japan so your best bet is to build the motor before it gets swapped not to mention you need to rewire for the swap and you lose .2 cylinders. That is why I am building my engine right now on a low compression build with web cams. Either that or build a 5SGTE. 5sfe block, 3sgte rods/pistons and a 3sgte head.
@eclipsegsx765 5SFE with good compression can take about 10-12 psi if properly tuned meaning no detonation. I would build the motor with better pistons and rods and then you can boost the crap out of it and run 400-500hp range. Main thing is cams to get more power. Without them this engine wont produce much.
I don't know yet. Currently I am getting Clevite Rod and Main bearings install. I want to put in bigger injectors in combo with my apexi afc neo so I can up the boost. Currently running 5PSI.
this is melvinman2000 isnt it? :D hey buddy didnt know yours was a coupe too :D
awesome.

Can we use 3sgte rods and pistons on the 5sfe? And also who makes stronger springs, retainers and shimless buckets for these motors?

thats a 3sfe...
mikedefusco54 6 months ago
Now its loosely a 5sfe. Its more of a custom built engine now. A 2.3 lt 5sfe.
trycatchscenario 6 months ago
@mikedefusco54 it clearly says 2200 on the valve cover, a 3sfe has the same cover but it says 2000

@ Omarrivera1981: He probebly used a 3sgte manifold. Because the 3s and 5s have the same exhaust manifolds.
6jwise6 8 months ago
@6jwise6 It is the same. I had to cut a little off the left side due to alternator bracket.

@eclipsegsx765 AWD is possible for your vehicle. ATS has done it. But it will cost you. $12-15k. If you want AWD get an All Trac 5th gen :)
