The problem to the person who asked about the cloudy tank, is if it is a new tank and has gravel then it is the gravel causing the cloudy water. Just leave it it will pass in a week or so it is not harmful to fish.
@fitbikerider459 Hi dude you know if you go in a specialized aquarium store they can sell you a little bottle containing bacteria that help the water ecosystem,I had the same problem with my first tank used those bacterias and the aquarium is awesome with crystal clear water
@fitbikerider459 most likely a bacterial or algae bloom. If the fish aren't affected, don't worry about it. Give it a couple of weeks and it will clear up.
Can i ask about your co2 and flow. How did you get your flow so good, are you using spray bars, power heads etc? Can you tell me more about the setup?
@atarittuser Hi mate, have a look at the journal here... ukaps.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=1039&hilit=my+120cm
If you don't mind putting your question on there as i don't think that was covered in the journal and other UKAPS members might find it useful, cheers!
Yes 15w per Gallon is miles too much, aim for 3 watts as that is still very high light, check out the forum at ukaps.org as i am sure we can help you through your setup.
@aranawebs yeah i found out with the 15 watts the plants were making extreme amounts of oxygen and growth was quite amazing but was to hard to keep the water temp down as it was 35 without any heater and also the algae came on too fast and was destroying but thats all changed now. went to 2 watts per gallon. thanks
Gorgeous tank man! Thats just Java Moss on the bottom, right ? Are you just using straight gravel and anchoring the moss down ? Im looking to do something similar
Let's have an updated video! I'd love to see how the plants have changed. What type of lights are you using? Are you running CO2? I saw the bubbles, but wasn't sure. And are you at 3W per litre or 1W?
ARANAWEBS: You are using a powerhead + co2 diffusor. I know you probably paid an arm and a leg for your diffusor but not only are they unnecessary with sumberged pumps but the pump can make a FAR more efficient diffusor. Try allowing the bubbles to get sucked into the waterpump's intake. A fast moving propeller will create much smaller bubbles (hardly visible) and you can aim your water pump downward so the bubbles go down 1st then rise up. I got my pump for 15.99 for a 55G
hey i just started a planted tank, i dont have a specific light for the tank, im using the light tht the tank came with. i think its a fluorescent light( tube kind) so would this work or do i need to buy a specific light for the tank, plz respond i neeed ur help!
@starthi aim for about 2.5 - 3 watts per litre with good quality tubes, check out ukaps.org for all the friendly help you need in the forum. Good Luck
@aranawebs i was wondering if 15 watts per gallon is too much? and can it cause any problems? will it speed the growing process? or is it just over kill and useless. im running co2 as well. ive had mixed opinions but shop keepers seem to not give me a proper answer as they prolly want me to kill my plants... help would be great thanks. btw they are HPS light all spectrum
None if you want a foreground. But a bushynose pleco will work for almost any planted. The only plants it won't work are with dwarf baby tears, riccia (here), pelia, and glosso.
@BigHater007 - sure you can keep pleco if you want long shit strings hanging off all your plants.. some will dig up carpeting/plants, some will feast on them like oprah at a vegas buffet. for the most part any pleco that gets large is a bad idea ( sailfin, adonis). many Hypoptopomatinae species are a better place to look, they stay small, no more than a few inches, are very good for algae and wont bother plants too much for the most part. just research it very well before you buy.
r there some plants that u can just shove down in ur rocks?? and need no substrate cas i just bought some from petco and stuck them down in my rocks and they said that was alright
to the americans: plantend tanks are not that difficult, often its enough to use plants that grow under normal light conditions and without co2. use vescularia dubyana, microsorum ptoperus, species of the naias genus, cryptocoryne species like. c. wendtii, valisneria and limnophilia and you will get similar results.
for more special plants you need co2 and much more light.
