Stock 5.7 is roughly 260 to the wheels, I put down 323 RWHP with nothing more than a Sidewinder cam, Magnaflow Cat-back exhaust, and SCT custom tune. After removing the clutch fan, adding a CAI, and long tubes with 26" long pieces of 3" diameter pipe, "torque tubes" I made 372 RWHP. With the 4.56 gears 1st gear is nearly worthless at WOT.
@Fast355 You have to consider though your adding a cam with a custom tune, not a cam with a base tune so power gains are quite large, also you've got a rwd not awd. For this truck to put 420hp to the wheels it would have to have nearly 520 at the crank. Now the truck easily could of run a 14.9 with the mods it has but that's a lot of weight reduction. BUT considering my Durango puts down a 318hp (est) and I run a 13.7 in the 1/4 I highly doubt I'd be a full second faster with 1-200 less hp.
sorry 2 tell u but my buddy has 1 that we have taken 2 the track its a 4.7 and ran a 14.6 with a flowmaster muffler thats the only mod so 420 ha no way
haha im calling bullshit thoes dodge v8's only have 250 hp cold ait in thakes can get (UP TO) 25 hp thoes chips give u up to 40 hp. so i wanna see a dino sheet?!!
i have a 2000 with a 5.2l, K&N CAI, Magnaflow Exhaust, and a few other mods.
the engine has 125k miles on it right now. when i does out ive been trying to think of what engine i should drop in, and the newer 5.7 hemi engine is a possibilty, along with turboing it or like a 350 or 408, what do you think
Toyota's are overrated. The HEMI is one of the few remaining engines that tuners can take full advantage of without any electronic nannies to worry about. Dodge should've watched the weight of the G2 Durango, if they kept it 300lbs heavier instead of the 610lbs heavier than the first generation it'd be a REAL stormer and I would've traded in my R/T. however, my R/T with a few simple mods is just as fast a new Durango HEMI and looks better too (no offense to those who own one)
Agreed that toyota trucks are over ratted, Toyota cars are pretty reliable. I own Fords, GM,s and Dodges and by far I prefer my Dodges out of all three because they hold up the best and the HEMI and Cummins are the best engines out there.
Z0D14C the 5.7 HEMI does not take on all. He has a chip and intake. And needs cold weather to do 0-60 in 6.5 seconds. The 5.7 Tundra does 0-60 in 6.1 seconds stock and Intake exhaust and TRD s/c the 4 second range.
My hemi Durango (08) makes 391 HP at the crank with only a Magnaflow catback and a K&N cold air. So what's the problem?

No way in hell this is anywhere near 420hp. I highly doubt its over 280 to the wheels. A tundra 5.7 bone stock eats lightly modded 03-08 hemi trucks.

Hemi power, cant get much better! The toyota tundra is quick dont get me wrong but id still prefer a durango!
Very strong engine all round!
flamebowi 1 year ago
I agree, the durango had a strong engine for what it was. The toyota is comparable to it but I would still have to side with the dodge!
