  • Thank god my home country is not infected by the bigotry i se here in Europe.

  • It feels so odd hearing Japanese speak in Portuguese.

  • Sou Brasileiro com muito orgulho!!!!

People from AROUND THE GLOBE WELCOME TO BRAZIL!!!

    PEACE...

  • Imigrantes no Brasil : números aproximados ...

    Portugueses e italianos = 1700000 cada

    Espanhóis = 750000

    Alemães e japoneses = 250000 cada .

    São os principais .

  • what I like of Brazil is, they are no hyphenated-Brazilians, like here in the US, what is terrible in my opinion. That's "one" of the reasons that we aren't united at all.

  • @nickfl1980 As a Latin Americanist I agree entirely. The US is divided on all fronts: politically, socially, racially, ethnically, economically... Brazil is one of the few examples of true diversity in the world. It has Europeans, people of African ancestry, mestizos, East Asians, and thriving Indigenous populations. It was easy to predict that Brazil would one day be the Super Power of the Western-Global South.

  • @FortheHorde1546 What on earth is an Latin Americanist? Seriously. My dad is a Brazilian from German and Norwegian descend, but he's 100% Brazilian. Not latin or whatever, but Brasileiro. That's the nationality of the nation he's born. Latin is totally something else (lazio). In my opinion Brazilians need stop with that nonsense, and just call themself Brazilians/Brasileiros/Brasileiras..that's so much cooler. I do agree that Brazil in economic sense will be a global power, thanks to confidence

  • @nickfl1980 A Latin Americanist is a person that has gone to college to become an expert on the Latin American region (Anywhere colonized by the Spanish, French, or Portuguese in the Western world). I'm technically an anthropologist that concentrates on Latin America. This is why I love Brazil. The US has an underlying racist complex where, if you are not ethnically white then you should show other bona fides that make you "American".

  • @nickfl1980 Brazil offers so much insight into how a nation embraced racial and ethnic differences -so much literature on it. You're right, your father is Brazilian! Japan, unfortunately, has it's own racial problems. Have you seen how they treat people of half-Japanese ancestry?? They exclude them. This video is beautiful because it shows how Japanese-Brazilians keep tradition alive but have adopted deeper insight into what it means to be diverse.

  • @FortheHorde1546 first all, American isn't a nationality. it's US/USA citizen, that's in the passport. Japanese-Brazilian I only hear out the mouth from people from the US where they enjoy hyphenating. Brazilians from Japanese descend call themself Brazilians, that's their nationality. If you claim to be an anthropoligist, have been to Brazil and studied it, than you should know that and stop with that labeling what you do yourself. the US is also diveresed and isn't only a white nation.

  • @nickfl1980 You are quite aggressive. In the academic world you need to make distinctions between people for the purpose of helping your audience understand what you are talking about. An American citizen within academic circles refers to US citizens. If I am talking about a group of people specifically I must hyphenate to designate them as a particular subgroup. Stop being so aggressive.

  • @FortheHorde1546 I'm not aggressive, i just type how it is. An American citizen is technically incorrect, but already accepted. hyphenating in the US is ridiculous what doesn't happen in Brazil except by clowns from the US who go there and still have their "labels" in their head what they are use to in the US. Here in the US we love "labeling" what is poison. It only devide us and that's one of the main reasons we here in the US have no real US/American idenity. Brazil is lucky not to have that

  • @nickfl1980 I'm going to ignore that you're indirectly calling me a clown. Labels in anthropology are necessary to differentiate people for the basis of understanding who you are specifically talking about. I do agree that there is a lack of a US identity (this is the topic of my next paper). Yes, you are aggressive. I agree with you on your initial comment and you blast me. The "American" debate I continuously hear. So if you want me to say it, "I'm Central American" happy?

  • @FortheHorde1546 Central American isn't a race nor a nationality. I know you're an American too (aka US citizen). Have a nice day.

  • @FortheHorde1546 yay an inferior hispanic once again comments on everything to do with these issues who pretends to know economy and denies his own race as a hispanic yet calls me racist. if hispanics arent a race and i denounce that race, then u cant call me racist because it isnt a race. u are a child who trolls on youtube so therefore u have no job of such and if u did, i would be concerned about real immigration studies

  • On a non-academic level: Just chill the fuck out dude -it's good advice. You won't go places if you blast the people who agree with you. Blast those that don't agree with you.

  • that's cool

  • I can't believe people are surprised that there are Asians in South America. Brazil is alot like the US, they are not a race, but are comprised of people of German, Italian, Portuguese, Japanese, African, and Lebanese descent and of course the mixed pardoe ones...

  • @filipenis96 THAT IS MEGA HYPER SUPER TRUE!

  • @filipenis96 brasil is actually the second country with the most japanese people, after japan of course, which took the title of first.

  • @NewSuperLuigiBrosWii According to MOFA the Japanese population in Brazil is about 70 thousand people. The USA, Australia, and Canadá has much large Japanese population than Brazil.

Now, if you talk about second and third generation, it will be much more than 70 thousand.

  • @teacherlove70 yea i meant any japanese decedent "Total population

    1.5 million (estimated) Japanese Brazilians

    0.8% of Brazil's population"

... lol, but if its pure, i highly doubt there are anymore in brasil, only there decedents, cuss of the movement that happened in japan at like 1800-ish

  • @teacherlove70 I think you live on the moon my friend, I am Brazilian of Russian and German parents and born in Sao Paulo. In Sao Paulo there are over 1,000,000 people of Japanese descent , in Liberdade, neighborhood, go and see ! Don't know what the hell MOFA is , but they are full of shit !

  • @filipenis96 Surprisingly, Brasil also also has a significant Slavic population (Polish, Ukrainian and Russian).

  • Interestin video. Much love and respect for the Japanese people in Brazil.

  • @Chuloloc good.

  • WTF Japanese speaking portugues lol what is Latin America coming to.

  • @volks0388 lol..it will blow u'r mind but there are germans and italians speaking portuguese too..lots of immigrants from european countries too. get used to it. travel!

  • @heomak some of these japanese immigrants immigrated way before some european immigrants. brazil is a multi-cultural country with descendants of african slaves, descendants of early portuguese settlers and of course native brazilian population along with people who are mix of these cultures...immigrants from italy, germany, and japan are the newer immigrants.

  • @volks0388 the japanese speaking porutugese in brazil is like latino or italian americans speaking english and not spanish or italian in america

  • @boriquadominicana just leave them alone. this is their identity make sense of. identity has many assertions.

  • @volks0388

They are not japanese. They are BRAZILIANS of japanese descendancy.

Just like Gisele Bündchen (super model) is a BRAZILIAN descendant of germans, and Rubens Barrichello (F1 Driver) is a BRAZILIAN of italian descendancy.

My girlfriend is 100% german descendant, and yet, she doesnt speak german, nor does she considers herself "german".

  • @rogerpenna Whether they are this or they are that. It does not matter. IDENTITY is a long driven journey. Their own identity is their own identity and it should not be torn apart. It should be taken with caution sensitivity and given as much integrity as possible. If your respect her/ him then you should respect her/him identity. However or whomever they call themselves this is not your call.

  • @volks0388 Whats the problem? I'm from a family of Japanese descendants and It's obviously pretty common for us to speak portuguese here. In the city of São Paulo (where I live), with near 12 million people, 8% have Japanese descendants. There's a lot of Brazillian-Japaneses like me in the States of São Paulo, Paraná and Mato Grosso do Sul.

  • WTF Japanese speaking Brazil lol

  • @volks0388 They're now brazilian, it makes sense for them to speak portuguese. I think it's great.

  • @MerkurX Let them do as they please and nothing else.

  • congratulation !!!

JAP immigrant to received a big huge load in s.America

them better need to moved in Africa. u better thanks your father sucker

so dont even moan about to back where you're from

    IT SO FUCKING PRICELESS

    JAPAN NOT WELCOME YOU

  • I´m From Brazil and I lived in Japan for 9 years ( My wife´s parents are Japanese).

I have nothing to complain, but I say Thank God for Japan.God bless Japan and I´ll always love the Japanese people.

  • the number of Spanish immigrants in Brazil is very low (thank goodness)

    immigrants in Brazil

Portuguese, Italian, Japanese, German and Dutch

  • @AnaFemeel u forgot arabs..more lebanese in brazil than lebanon itself! hehe

  • @xplosivelilly yes...

    uashaushaushaushuas

  • @Felisette Pero que si!

  • @AnaFemeel you forgot africans also and technically the spanish and portuguese come from the same background and roots so you are only troll'n :)

  • @helloseahorseandme every human come from the same origin

  • Japanese immigrated to Brazil as plantation workers, wholeheartedly received by Brazilians with no reservation in their minds of discrimination, until Japan recovered and presently one of the world's economic power. Brazil is a multi ethnic society, they don't even care, they don't discriminate, But now, Brazilians nikkeijin (Japanese descendants) and their families immigrated to Japan to find jobs, they did, when Japan felt the recession, they told Brazilians "here's money go home". too sad. !

  • No, no... My state (Rio Grande do Sul) foe example do had suffer in the past so much wars between Portugal and Spain for border lines..... And this happened in so much others states,,,

About germans, they had in the past a big growth... They came to the South but after this goes to Central west.... And nowadays to Northest,,,, There's so much germans in Brazil.... our census doesn't do ethinic asks... Only if is white, black, asian, inginenan or "pardo"

  • Brazil stayed also under Spanish rules for several alternated times.... For this reason there's so much spanish people in Brazil;.;maybe more than portuguese...

  • dude under spanish wah????

    are u high?

  • get your facts straight. Brazil was never ever ever under Spanish rule. More spanish people than Portuguese?? Look at everyones last names in Brazil. It's majority Portuguese last names. Our official language is Portuguese and we enforce that clearly. Brazil gained it's independence from Portugal without a bloody revolution unlike the Spanish colonies had. We were never ruled by Spain.

  • @alexwribs19

you are wrong and anyone with knowledge of history knows that. Brazil was technically under spanish rule between 1580 and 1640, when the heirless King of Portugal died in Morocco, and Felipe II from Spain claimed the Portuguese throne. Although Portugal didnt lose its independence, it was ruled by the same king as Spain.

In 1640, João IV led a revolt against Spain, supported by the portuguese nobility, and Portugal regained its total independence.

  • Brazil is a country where lives more 1)Germans (in south and central-west), 2) portugueses (in South-east),3) japaneses (in South east and north), 4)frenchs 9in South-east), 5) italians (in south east and south) afrikans (in all territory), russians and polishs (in south) and spaniards (near to argetina and uruguay)

  • @passarodoartico you say the truth.....i´m a geography teacher

  • This year,Japanese-Brazilian workers who have LOST their manufacturing jobs in the recession are now being offered government money to GO home .Government officials say they do not expect employment opportunities and some of then even saying there was a mistake give then special visa,so they are offering $3,000 toward air fare, and $2,000 for each dependent, to go home and PROMISE NOT TO RETURN!Brazil had economic problems since FOREVER,but NEVER said GO HOME !to the foreigneirs living there.

  • lol i know ^^

  • Awesome. Great video.

  • Brazil has Japaneses , Portugal has Chineses ^^

  • Japón tiene Chinos también.

  • not really...

I am 20 years old, third generation, 100% Japanese (family from Okinawa), and so are my brothers and my sister, and so is my girlfriend.... I mean, we have been here for such a long time and we managed to keep our culture alive and well, and trust me we ain't just going to disappear any time soon, and besides that so many japanese-brazilians are returning to the motherland to work and this keeps our thing even more alive.

oh, and we are the minority here, not the Brazilians.

  • ,,are most still full blooded Japanese or are many mixed with other races ?

  • It´s hard to say if MOST of us are still full blooded, because it depends a lot on where you are, that neighborhood on the video (Liberdade, which by the way means freedom) is perhaps the most traditional, so that´s a place where one would see very few mixed japas (mestiços) however some families, way back on the day, decided to move to different cities, and the generations that came after didn´t have much choice, they had to marry brazilians, simply because there wasn´t a large community

  • and this is pretty much a very common story with hundreds, if not thousands, of families, this is the reason I feel that the japanese culture in Brazil is safe and sound, because we still have a very strong bond with the motherland, and this just boosts our "pride" and creates a very solid Ethnic identity, we know who we are, we know what our people has gone through, even if a nipo-brazilian marries a brazilian, their kids will not only look rather asian, but they will feel the same way.

  • ,,isn't there a large German population in Brazil & Argentina ?

  • oh yes, down south, in the amazingly beautiful state of Rio Grande do Sul, there are quite a few german towns (where the girls are mighty fine, might I add) Gramado and Canela are the most popular german-cities, where many tradicional festivals are held.

I strongly recommend any foreigner, who is willing to go to Brazil, to visit the japanese neighborhood in Sao Paulo, then head south to check out the beautiful beaches of Santa Catarina and then the german towns further south.

  • Yes very much as a matter of fact after the USA Brazil has the most german descendants. Same with Polish and Ukranian. I have experienced the brazilian Oktoberfest and all I can say it is just awesome. Brazil is just a festive nation.

  • we have second largest of japanese american afher brazil 7,000 new japanese people enter united states every year

  • About 2 weeks ago, the Japanese government announced they will pay the Japanese-Brazilians (Nikkei-jin) to leave Japan and to never to return back to Japan. This is real news.

  • stop being an idiot, will ya?

I've been living in Japan for most of my life, and as a japanese-brazilian I am proud to say that we are now an important part of the japanese economy. Unlike koreans, we are NOT immigrants, this lands belongs to us. Koreans do not like this idea and their jealousy overpowers them and they feel a strong need to badmouth japanese-brazilians.

  • NO, the Japanese government never offered such thing to the many brazilians here, what they do offer is help to settle some where else for those who lost their jobs

  • hi, I'm Japanese.

my granddad immigrated to brazil in 1940's and came back to japan after war. if there weren't for the brazilian government accepting him i wouldn't have been born because the town in japan he used to live in was burned to ashes... by B29

    Thank you Brazil!!

  • @smokerbaby

Such a Shame that the Americans bombed the Japanese and Germans into oblivion Such great genetics & culture those people.

  • Brazil has the largest japanese colony out of Japan, the largest italian out of Italy and to 2nd out of Germany (1st are in the USA).

  • BRazil R0x

  • I hate it when people call Japanese Asian when they are pacific islanders like Hawaiians or Filipinos.

  • japanese are altaic people making them related to koreans, mongolians, manchus, turks...hawaiians are polynesian...filipino are malay or chinese or african or spanish mix...both hawaiians and the malay filipinos belong to the austronesian people...all three nationalities japanese haiwaiians filipinos ancestors all came from asia so they are considered asian

  • Everyone on the planet has common ancestors so that is a moot point. With your logic Filipinos are just as much Africans or Europeans. Japan is a country which is why it's people are called Japanese. Japan is an island in the pacific and not a country in the continent of Asia. The term Asian is a racist slur for lazy ignorant people. The most racist word in the English language because it groups people who are not from Asia and leaves out some who are, i.e. Indians and Russian. Stop being racist

  • im not racist we are all human sharing the same common ancestor 75000 years ago your the one who categorizes people

  • go learn some history or genetics before you start talking stuff coming out from you is nonsense made up stuff that you came up with yourself nazi

  • everyone knows pacific islanders are used to categorize polynesian people but i guess some people are just to stupid ro realize it

  • Common ancestry or not, history has proven there are huge differences between people. As anyone sane person knows culture is gene expression and not social construct like liberals falsely like to claim. I got lot of respect for Japanese in japan, they dont commit national, cultural and racial suicide by allowing millions foreigner immigrants into their country. Europe is in peril because of this madness is allowed....

  • I agree! But nowadays, there are many Chinese, Koreans, and those damn Filipinos, who are immigrating there. Soon Japan will just be like many of the world's developed nations, that have been plauged by plural culturalism, and the Death of the Native culture there, unfortuneately!

  • They claim once birthrates fall below 1,30 it is impossible to reverse death of culture. But on what mathemathical pattern is that based? I think it is false, it is possible to reverse trend despise very low birthrates but it might take long to turn it around.

  • another possible solution may be genocide? I mean i know thats way to far serious, but I mean if you really want to defend the people of your own country, and stop overcrowdedness and the over population of the world. We seriously may need one soon!

  • many asian ethnicites have mix of altaic, sino-tibetan, austro-asiatic, austronesian, etc. mix, japanese itself is mix of sino-tibetan and altaic mix making them asian not pacific islander the island of japan itself broke off the continent of asia how are they not asian also the continent of the phillipines broke off asia so your saying indonesians are pacific islanders too? i dont think they share a border with the asia continent but is still a part of it pacific islanders are polynesians......

  • You're categorizing people because you are a racist. Go back to your skinhead meeting and quit calling Japanese people asian. asian is a racial slur.

  • asian is a word to categorize the people of asia i guess a white racist invented it nobody in asia even know what asian means your the racist man dont make any sense

  • what do you call people from the continent of asia? lets just call everyone human like its suppose to be calling people pacific islander is racist too...calling someone white black hispanic is racist calling native americans indians is racist they arent from india calling a white person caucasian is also racist...calling a black person african is racist...calling a chinese person chinese is racist...calling a european person european is racist...calling an african person from africa is racist

  • That's my point pinhead. Whites, Blacks, Yellows, etc. When people say asian they really mean people with yellow skin not people from the continent of asia. Go clean your braces, the crap in your mouth is coming through in your weak-ass racist opinions. You were dropped on your head repeatedly because your mom new you couldn't get any dumber or uglier.

  • you need to grow up 29 years old act like a 12 year old kid

  • lol i sure am ugly have u looked at urself in the mirror before *PANICS* ^^

  • You are an ugly racist no matter what age you are.

  • never once said anything racist ur the racist have u realized that wuts with all the negative comments on ur page then??

  • You're racist and stupid. You group people who aren't from asia as asian because you freely use racial slurs.

  • i guess

  • i was asked by macys to model their clothes for them but i denied it -_-

  • Macy's wants to appeal to ugly racists with poor English skills huh? You are lame.

  • ignorant

  • dude i can speak 13 languages u can only speak english

  • 13 languages, I highly doubt it. English sure isn't one of them, you sound like you've sustained a massive head injury. I speak multiple languages including Japanese, I've lived in Japan many years. You are just as prejudiced as you are racist as you are stupid.

  • yup

  • u dont even know where ur ancestors came from so shut up u only know n live in america and thats all u lost ur own native language and u can only speak english so hah go learn something u mono lingual piece of shit

  • I've traced my family bloodline through out the centuries. You are descended from a dumpster. Again, contrary to your prejudgment I speak multiple languages. Seeing how pathetic your English is I highly doubt you have a command of even one language you pathetic zero lingual human stain.

  • ur cool u know that

  • im japanese did u know that

  • all the stuff i had said is not a lie its called research go look up all the stuff i have said i dont make stuff up like you do ignorant person

  • go travel to japan or something and ull find out that they dont consider themselves pacific islander retard should go to college guess u didnt go...feel sorry for you having no education and all

  • Japanese know they live on an archipelago in the pacific and not on the continent of asia. You'd know if only Japan didn't reject you because you're a lower scum human. Japanese refer to people according to their nationality but when generalizing they say: hakujin (white), kokujin (black), kirojin (yellow) not asian. You're pathetic display of hostile defensiveness shows how inadequate you are against my superior intellect.

  • i talk the way i do because everyone does the same otherwise no point of typing proper english on the internet...you should know that of all people guess ur too stupid to know anything

  • Everyone doesn't talk like you because everyone isn't an unlettered dunce. Stop using English. You're not mentally qualified to use my language, it's too advanced for you. You're an ugly third world mutant ignoramus. Your matriculation consists of a couple days in daycare when compared to my extensive education.

  • im ugly?? ur the one with no picture on ur page thats how ugly u r

  • k im done with sheltered son of a bitch go out into the real world and learn the truth stop making up your little lies about japanese being pacific islander...DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE YOU START TYPING NONSENSE YOU RETARD

  • Yes, quit. I hope you're done. That's probably another one of your delusional lies though. I'm sure we'll all continue to laugh at your unrelenting douche bagery. Your postings have been so moronic, anyone who read them is dumber as a result. You should be locked in a shed and never let out. You'd still be able to gain the same amount of inaccurate pablum you've filled your pea-brain with, but no one would have to look at your hideously deformed face. You're ugly because your parents are ugly.

  • yes

  • whoever this comment is directed at should feel less of a man. Smetch is so full of w1n that he can instantly pwn on sight

  • It's directed towards blessingthach3, the biggest taint sniffing scrote muncher on youtube and perhaps the web as a whole. He tried to step to me and it was such a pathetic display on his part. So sad and misled, his delusions of adequacy. I don't know what makes him so stupid and ugly...but it really works.

  • LOL, Im just youtubing late at night and stumble upon some random dialogue that so few are capable of creating. I dont even know what the argument was about but by that one statement im sure it was very one sided

  • guess someone has mental issues and it is not me

  • japanese people arent pacific islanders go get learn some education on that subject everyone knows japanese people are considered asian in english speaking societies

  • You are a complete racist moron who can't speak English. Everything you said is incorrect and stupid. You look like a total clown. Your "point" is pathetic.

  • shut up already u know nothing about human history you belong in a mental institution

  • how can i be a racist if everyones related?

  • dude did u even attend school at all

  • this is the dumbest quote ever "I hate it when people call Japanese Asian when they are pacific islanders like Hawaiians or Filipinos. " I wonder who wrote it...

  • Yeah. it's such a stinker. Really moronic.

  • wow... I am a pacific islander? I've never heard that before

  • I didn't know that, too. This is really one of the most ridiculous thing that I've seen on youtube. The Japanese surely live on the Islands, but, for fuck's sake, that doesn't make us non-Asian. Using the same low-IQ non-logic, many Chinese in Indonesia will be non-Asian, thus automatically non-Chinese.

  • PRESIDENT ELECT OBAMA

  • The 2nd generation in Brazil speaks more japanese than others nikkeys becouse they want to preserve the beautiful japanese culture!!

  • wow thats cool

  • Go Japan and Brazil!!

  • OMG an Asian speaking Portuguese.

  • well, most of them were born here in Brazil, so... they're supposed to speak portuguese XD

  • Check the numbers:

    Japanese in Brazil: 1,400,000

    Japanese in the US: 1,200,000

So you're more likely to find Japanese people speaking native Portuguese than native English.

(Yes, lots of Japanese learn English as a second language, I'm referring to native speakers aka 2nd generation)
