I don't know where you would find a wiring diagram, but one could surface on the internet. Of course, you could email the sirenman via his website and ask him.
No, the polarity has not been reversed. This is the original lights and how they worked. One is the early model 17 and the other is later model 17. Thanks for stopping by.
4416 are the bulbs. There are other model bulbs that will work. Any auto parts store will have or can order you 4416's. Usually, GE is the brand. I hope that helps you and thanks for coming by.
I don't think I've ever seen these models mounted on a visibar. The model 11 and 14 were the two sealed beam beacons that were mounted on a visibar and were popular years ago. They were also Federal Sign and Signal. Thanks again for your comment.
lol. these are awesome where did you find them?

Hey there, did you find that other 17 light that you thought would turn the opposite way?
bluemoose2301 2 years ago
Both of these 17's came from ebay. I didn't know they turned in opposite directions until I tested them.

Ok one more. does your motor have 1 wire or 2 coming out to attach power to?
bluemoose2301 2 years ago
One wire comes from the motor of the light. There is a place under the skirt to hook a ground wire to the chassis.
Rtzee 2 years ago
So I guess the one motor on the inside was made to turn that way. Meaning I have to find a motor that turns that way. The quest continues...
bluemoose2301 2 years ago
I have one more of the early 17's. I will have to check it to see which way it turns. Take care.

DO YOU KNOW WHERE I CAN GET A WIRING DIAGRAM FOR THE MODEL 17? i HAVE ONE ON MY 1942 FIRE TRUCK. DO I NEED A RELAY SWITCH ETC? THANX

There is not a relay switch on any of mine.
Thanks.

That still fascinates me how they turn the opposite way of each other. I must find a motor that does that.
bluemoose2301 2 years ago
I believe those are two seperate lights and dont share the same motor.
Depending on the type of motor you could reverse the polarity of the electricity coming to it & cause it to rotate the opposite direction.
DeltaFoxtrotWhiskey3 2 years ago
Yes sir you are correct. Thanks for posting. Both model 17's were manufactured at different times.
Rtzee 2 years ago
Do both of the lights just say federal model 17 or is there a letter after it?
bluemoose2301 2 years ago
These lights are rotating the opposite way of each other. Wewe they made that way or did you reverse the polarity?
bluemoose2301 2 years ago

¿Alguien sabe, por qué en Europa las torretas rojas no están permitidas? Solo usan de color azul.
Gracias.

Creo que es debido al color de, las personas pueden confundir, como la confusión entre el rojo y el verde es más común al color.

I can picture the red BeaconRay on top of a 1973 Ward LaFrance P-80 Ambassador (think LA County Fire Department) ;)

From 1970 to around 1975, the Houston Fire Dept ran white Gran Fury chief's cars...they had Visibars with the following:
2- Federal M175's with red glass domes;
2- Federal CP100 siren speakers;
1- Federal Q-2 mechanical siren.
I shudder to think of the weight AND the power drain to the car's electrical system, but they did.

Those would look sweet mounted on a Visibar frame. Nice beacons!
