i hate the fact that there is no fucking tutorial on YT showing "step-by-step" ubuntu installation on Eeepc ( i got 1215N), FROM PENDRIVE, i mean how the fuck am i suppoused to do that?
nice quick demo, i like that. Are there many differences between gutsy and hardy? i've got gutsy on my desktop and was wondering wether its worth upgrading?

Ditto on the good demo. Better than many top web sites (the video needs just a bit of work). You did a great job of getting the main points across quickly and concisely. There's real professional potential in your work.
Please help I've been trying to get ubuntu loaded on my eee and it has worked great but i can not get the wifi working because i don't understand the instructions on the wiki page I don't know that much about Linux and how to use the terminal please help me tell me how to do this like you where talking to a little baby just write me an email with youtube please help thank you.
Ubuntu should automatically recognize your wireless card. I don't see why it wouldn't automattically recognize the built in card since it comes with linux preinstalled and works out the box. Go to system, click network and log in. That should take you to the network window where you can select the wireless card. If you have any other questions just email me.
I am getting the 8G and an avid Ubuntu/Compiz user on my existing laptop. What amazed me is that without an NVIDIA/ATI card, EeePC could run Compiz-Fusion!... Does everything work with Ubuntu on EeePC out of the box? (especially FN buttons, webcam, wifi, card reader etc.)
compiz fusion should work immediately after a fresh ubuntu install. you may want some more effects, so go to System>administration>synaptic package manager. Search for compiz fusion, and mark it for installation, also add the compizconfig manager as well.
Boot time is much much slower. If you aren't partial to ubuntu, stick with Xandros. I love ubuntu, so naturally I installed. But Asus did a great job of making xandros perfect for the eee. so don't purge it if you aren't sure.

I have some reservations about hardy heron. For me it was a difficult upgrade. But I don't think you will be disapointed by the new features.
cutlerite 3 years ago
what are the new features?? only i've not really found much on the differences between the two distro's.

Pretty cool... I want one. :D

Question. Say I bought this Asus EEE PC and install Gutsy on it. What else would I need to do to allow compiz-fusion work?

Would you advise me to PURGE the original Xandros OS it is supplied with? How are the boot times compared with Xandros.

But would it be possible to boot from an ext. hard drive and not on the actual SSD?
LessthanJake14 4 years ago
Yes. You can even install some OS on a pendrive ;)
