  • i hate the fact that there is no fucking tutorial on YT showing "step-by-step" ubuntu installation on Eeepc ( i got 1215N), FROM PENDRIVE, i mean how the fuck am i suppoused to do that?

  • should i download ubuntu gutsy or ubuntu hard`??

    but nice vid :D:D

  • I recommend the customized version for the eee pc. which google should provide for you

  • look up eeeubuntu

  • thanks for the video... iv been looking at those EeePC laptops for a couple of days wondering if they are any good.

  • Judging from the snappy response time in this video seems to be working very well.

  • ive bought one

but their only good for movies trust me

everything else after an hour makes your eyes blur. :)

    its good for movies though

  • nice quick demo, i like that. Are there many differences between gutsy and hardy? i've got gutsy on my desktop and was wondering wether its worth upgrading?

  • I have some reservations about hardy heron. For me it was a difficult upgrade. But I don't think you will be disapointed by the new features.

  • what are the new features?? only i've not really found much on the differences between the two distro's.

  • Pretty cool... I want one. :D

  • as you may call it ubuntu linux.

  • Ditto on the good demo. Better than many top web sites (the video needs just a bit of work). You did a great job of getting the main points across quickly and concisely. There's real professional potential in your work.

  • How is the performance of Wobbly Windows effect on Gutsy? The computer in this demo, is 512K or 1G? Thanks!

  • Good Demo man. Bestbuy only sales it online.

    Tigerdirect sales it also.

  • Does integrated webcam work on Gutsy Ubuntu??

  • hmm.. does any one know? Coz i was thinking about putting Ubuntu n my eee...

    Jam :)

  • Almost all cams work with video4linux that is integrated :)

  • yes, the cam works. It's a linux system. ;)

  • Does it take long to boot up into Ubuntu?

  • Please help I've been trying to get ubuntu loaded on my eee and it has worked great but i can not get the wifi working because i don't understand the instructions on the wiki page I don't know that much about Linux and how to use the terminal please help me tell me how to do this like you where talking to a little baby just write me an email with youtube please help thank you.

  • Ubuntu should automatically recognize your wireless card. I don't see why it wouldn't automattically recognize the built in card since it comes with linux preinstalled and works out the box. Go to system, click network and log in. That should take you to the network window where you can select the wireless card. If you have any other questions just email me.

  • I am getting the 8G and an avid Ubuntu/Compiz user on my existing laptop. What amazed me is that without an NVIDIA/ATI card, EeePC could run Compiz-Fusion!... Does everything work with Ubuntu on EeePC out of the box? (especially FN buttons, webcam, wifi, card reader etc.)

  • no. however they have an eee version of xubuntu,, that will have all of those functions working fine.

  • what´s that amazing song playing in the back?

  • Nice vid. I'm gettin one.

  • Question. Say I bought this Asus EEE PC and install Gutsy on it. What else would I need to do to allow compiz-fusion work?

  • compiz fusion should work immediately after a fresh ubuntu install. you may want some more effects, so go to System>administration>synaptic package manager. Search for compiz fusion, and mark it for installation, also add the compizconfig manager as well.

  • Would you advise me to PURGE the original Xandros OS it is supplied with? How are the boot times compared with Xandros.

  • Boot time is much much slower. If you aren't partial to ubuntu, stick with Xandros. I love ubuntu, so naturally I installed. But Asus did a great job of making xandros perfect for the eee. so don't purge it if you aren't sure.

  • But would it be possible to boot from an ext. hard drive and not on the actual SSD?

  • Yes. You can even install some OS on a pendrive ;)
