VC is extremely talented but personally I blame the teams for messing up his career as well. I don't know the history in Toronto but in NJ, they had a roster that could take them to the finals but management was to cheap to get a decent big man. Orlando didn't use him properly because of how they are basically asking him to hit shots at the final seconds of a possession. And Phoenix... don't get me started. What Gentry did to Carter was the most fucked up thing I saw in basketball.
@TheWonderfulMemories Took the words right out of my mouth. He's had alot of bad luck in his career, and there's a good chance he won't get into the HOF. And he will be the first person with his career numbers and accolades to not get in.
@GuyanezeComedy And the thought that VC won't get into the HOF hurts me, extremely. He is; one of a kind, both in talent and personality. And I also respect that both you and sauce556 are true VC fans. :)
@TheWonderfulMemories There's a chance he gets in, but it all depends on how long he plays and if he ever contributes to a Championship winner. He wouldn't be the best starter, but he would be the most feared 6th man if that's his only chance. The saddest part is, people really dont understand Carter career, and that he was 22 his rookie year, and he was just a dunker that everyone was forcing to become the next MJ. Instead he created and will leave his own greatlegacy with the Raptors and Nets.
Carter had the talent, skill, DRIVE, and HEART......but he didn't have a good team to help him. There's only so much one play can do for a team, especially when there's no effort being used to bring in other quality players.
@GuyanezeComedy i was about to say what u just said... lol way to fight ignorance brother--we gots to KEEP AT IT LOL even though its not possible aha i feel ur pain lol
I believe VC is more talented (at least more athletic) then kobe bryant but he never had and never will have that crazy drive to be the greatest he can be.
yeah he was more talented, and is more talented, hes a better shooter and is way more flexible, athletic? way more athletic but like u said, he just didnt push himself to be the best, no effort, altho for him scoring and dunking, truly was effortless before injuries and age got to him a bit, hes still one of the best players in the league today
dude, that is such a small part of the game though. Ok, more athletic, idk about flexibility. But Kobe is a better shooter, and is just all around incredible. Vince Carter is athletic, and is incredible at what he does, but it is NEVER the players fault that he isn't the FUCKING GRATEST PLAYER EVER. I hate it when people blame Vince for not being incredible! he is a great player, just not the best. How is that his fault!??!
What he meant is that, he could have been the greatest if he put more heart into the game when he was younger. I mean, you can see Kobe tries hard, and that's why he's the best player around right now. Vince could have been up there, he had all the potential to be better than Kobe but he didn't put enough effort in his game. That's why they're different now. But when Carter wants it, they're on the same level. Too bad he almost never wants it. Still my favorite player though.
He didn't have the potential to be better than Kobe. He WAS better than Kobe. He was compared to the great MJ as a ROOKIE. Kobe didn't even get a recognition as MJ, or not that i know of back then. Vince was the next Heir to Michael. The Dunking, the go to guy for points, the scoring, the stats. They were REALLY close. Vince was just plagued by 2 big injuries then the Raptors dynasty fell down, and he went down also. He is far more athletic than Kobe will ever be. I said ATHLETIC. Remember that.
Oh, no worries. I'm a VC fan as much as you are. I agree on the athletic part. Still, there was some point in his career where VC just gave up, probably because of the injuries as you said, but he changed his attitude towards the game. Back in 2000-2001, there was nobody who could stop him. And then... we all know what happened. It's kind of sad that he ended up being the second option in NJ. I still think he deserves more than that. But then, we'll never know if he CAN give more right now...
he didn't give up on ball, he just gave up on toronto. he tried to turn it up again in NJ, but injuries can kill ya, no matter how hard you try, the injuries really kill your game

@ 0:14..there is a fan in a blue shirt wearing a jersey holding up a sign. It is me, just so you guys know...

Are you from cali, or did you travel to see that game.
PS. What exactly does the sign say?
Neptunz05 4 years ago
That was a clever move by carter. He backed kobe into cliff robinson and took off for the dunk.
