The scripture teaches that we are "all under sin", which means, whether we realize it or not, that we are "all under law" also. Sin only exists and operates in the context of God's law. There is no sin without law. Sin is a violation of the law. There can be no sin without law.
"Through the law is the knowledge of sin" Rom 3:20. "Where there is no law, neither is there violation" Rom 4:15. "Sin is not accounted when there is no law" Rom 5:13. "I would not have known what sin was except through the law" Rom 7:7. "Apart from the law, sin is dead" Rom 7:8. If we are "all under sin" then we are "all under law".
We all must explore the claim of God's law on "all men" in the NT, Jew or Gentile. Whether written on tables of stone or written on the tables of men's hearts.
The progression from being under Law to being under Grace is the key to understanding the two different representations of justification, whether by "faith without works" or by "works of faith".
All men are born under law, Jew or Gentile. Check out Rom 2:12-16; 3:19-20; 5:12-14; 7:7-8. Gal 3:13; 3:22-24; 4:3-5.
We are justified in relation to Law by Christ's work in our behalf(faith w/o works) as a prerequisite to entering an economy of grace where we are justified by works of faith.
Further, we love Him and others because He loves us first; so even our faith in God and our love of God and others is a response to the demonstrated limitless love of God toward us, which is clearly shown by all His good deeds and particularly the works of Christ Jesus. Our good deeds demonstrate that we have already received the marvelous gift of God by faith. This is good news.
Good deeds are not required; they are evidence that one has received God's gift of of justification and imputed righteousness through faith in Christ Jesus. Good deeds are what one does in response; they are evidence that one has received God's unmerited favor because that one placed their faith in the love of God and what He has fully completed on their behalf in the life, the condemnation and crucifixion, the death, the resurrection, and the ascension to the right hand of God of our wonderful
Put Romans 5:1 beside Romans 8:1 and then put that beside James 2:24. No where in the bible does it say faith 'ALONE'. Faith is required, but it is not the ONLY requirement. Good deeds is also necessary (James 2).
Morons . . . the only time the Bible uses the phrase "faith alone" is when it says "a man is justified by works and NOT by faith alone". That is the pure and simple truth. You are all anti-Biblical morons with your heads up your buttocks.
@TheOldBeef When a person exercises faith in Christ he is born again. When he is born again he receives the Holy Spirit to lead and guide him. That means faith alone in Christ alone. Nevertheless one in Christ is led by Christ. Asked what Luther would replace works with he said, CHRIST.
@pegcage uh, the Bible says you are justified not by faith alone (James 2:24), and your comment is nonsensical and has nothing to do with what I said.
@TheOldBeef If you do not think my comment was relevant, then you do not understand the Bible or the gospel. It is Christ that produces the good works in us, but we must first enter into Christ by the new birth. At that moment we are justified, before there are any good works at all. Good works are what Christ produces, not us.
@TheOldBeef No man can put a believer in Christ under law. We are under Christ's law alone, which is the law of Love. Love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength and your neighbor as yourself. I do not need to answer to man's institutions to obey Christ. To reach that state we are justified by faith alone and set free in Christ.
@danieltwelve3 I don't need to answer to man's institutions either. But the Bible says you are justified not by faith alone rather than that you are justified by faith alone (James 2:24). Nothing I said had anything to do with man's law.
@Heb59 - No, Salvation by faith alone is NOT counter to scripture. YOU are! The reason why is you have NOT learned how to rightfully divide the word of Truth, by the Spirit of God. As I said, you are attempting to bring scriptures that you think prove that Salvation is by Faith + Works, totally ignorning Eph 2:8-9 that VERY CLEARLY says > "Salvation is NOT OF YOURSELF, NOT OF WORKS." You totally disregard this part of God's Word, instead of reconciling all of God's Word. There's a difference.
@TheExpertTheologian Heb 5:9 states that salvation is for those who obey. John 3:36 says faith + works are necessary to go to heaven. It says if one has faith in Jesus and obeys Jesus one will have eternal life. Eph 2:10 shows that salvation requires good works. Eph 5:5 says no immoral and impure will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor 13:13 says love is greater than faith. 1 Cor 13:2 says that if we faith but do not have love we are nothing. James 2:24 says we are justified by faith and works.
@Heb59 -"No immoral and impure will inherit the Kingdom of God", has to do with ALL those who have NOT been born of God's Spirit through Faith Jesus Christ's Blood Atonement, which is a GIFT of God. It certainly has nothing to do with your works. Your "works" will NEVER make you righteous in God's sight; the Pharassies thought this too just like YOU. God declares the ungodly righteous through their Faith in Jesus Christ, which has to do with OBEYING THE GOSPEL that was preached by the Apostles.
@TheExpertTheologian In Eph 1:5, Paul is imploring born again Christians in Ephesus not to sin because no immoral or impure person, Christian or non-Christian, will go to heaven. Faith only salvaiton is a deception. In Eph 5:6-8 Paul again warns born again Christans not to believe in faith only salvation and that the disobedient will see God's wrath. Works could not save the pharisees because they did not believe in Jesus. Salvation requires faith in Jesus and obedience.
@TheExpertTheologian There a lot of good hearted Christians who believe in sola scriptura which is not Biblical. This unbiblical method leads to man made traditions like salvation by faith alone. Truth is passed down to us by oral tradition and scripture. 1 Cor 11:2, 2 Thess 2:15, 2 Thess 3:6. oral tradition and scripture teach that we are saved by faith and works(love).
@Heb59 -When you stand before God to give an account of your life, which everyone will do, make sure you have thoroughly memorized and are ready to discuss with God ALL the things that YOU have done through your works to earn salvation and maintain staying saved! Also, John 3:36 does NOT say "faith + works are necessary to go to heaven", this is what YOU are saying. John 3:36 says > "He that believeth on the Son HAS everlasting life: and he that believeth NOT the Son shall not see life..."
@TheExpertTheologian John 3:36 uses two different greek words for faith. The first is pisteuo which means faith as trust and belief. The second is apeitheo which means a belief not put into action - disobedience. (See Strongs Greek Lexicon). That is why some Bibles translate it as either disobeys or believeth not. The English word believeth lacks the added dimension of obedient faith. Christians have always believed that faith and works are necessary and the Bible refelects it.
@Heb59 Jesus speaking said > "For I say unto you, except your righteousness EXCEEDS the righteousness of the Scribes and Pharisees, YOU SHALL NOT enter into the Kingdom of Heaven." (Matt 5:20). Best wishes with your WORKS to be saved and going to heaven! The Scribes & Pharisees prided themselves ALSO on their WORKS that they thought made them acceptable to God, and qualified to go to Heaven. They thought their WORKS guaranteed them of this, but yet, Jesus told them their father is the Devil!
@Heb59 "Obeying God to be saved" has to do specifically with OBEYING THE GOSPEL OF GOD. >"For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God and if it first begin at us what shall the end be of them that OBEY NOT THE GOSPEL OF GOD?" (1Peter 4:17). Too bad you're struggling with what Salvation is, and that it is NOT OF WORKS, NOT OF YOURSELF (Eph 2:8-9). God does NOT contradict Himself EVER, so what YOU DO is attempt to PROOVE with other scriptures that God DOES contradict Himself.
@TheExpertTheologian Faith and Works does not contradict God, it glorifies Him. Jesus' life is faith and works. He believed in the Father and He also obeyed the Father to his death. 1 Cor 6:20 says we "have been purchased at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body." Rom 12:1 says we are to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice. Our works glorify God and is required for salvation. Interpreting the Bible without oral tradition(1 Cor 11:2) leads to false ideas like "faith alone".
If we do not love God, we cannot enter heaven. To love God is to obey his commandment. (John 14:5, 14:21). John 15:6 says that if we do not remain in Jesus, we will be thrown into hell. John 15:10 says that to remain in Jesus means to obey his commandments. John 15:17 Jesus commands us to love one another. Faith and Works are needed for salvation. Faith alone arose based on the unbiblical belief in sola scriptura. Bible clearly teaches that truth comes from oral tradition and Bible. 2 Thes 2:15
There are two parts to being righteous before God. The first is being forgiven our sins by faith which is addressed in Roman 4. The second is by obdedience to God which is addressed in all of Romans 6. But read Rom 6:16 which says sin leads to death and obedience leads to righteousness. Paul clearly teaches as well as James (2:14-26) that faith and works are necessary for salvation. No contradiction in the Bible. Faith alone leads to contradiction and overlooks verses. Faith + Works.
If faith and works is true and since we all sin, does it mean that all mankind will go to Hell? No. Not all mankind, there will be a few who will enter heaven (Matt 7:13-14). These are the ones that have faith that Jesus can heal them of their sinful ways. Many Christians do not have faith that Jesus can change their sinful ways so they remain in sin. On our journey to holiness, when we commit a sin we must ask God's forgivness and ask God to give us the grace to sin no more in the future.
@Heb59 -"They asked Him, "What must WE DO to do the WORKS God requires?" Jesus said, "The work of God IS THIS, believe in the One He has sent." (John 6:28-29). Anyone believing in Jesus Christ, trusting His Blood Atonement to save them eternally, IS THE WORK GOD REQUIRES, THIS IS OBEYING THE GOSPEL OF GOD. It is believing the Gospel the Apostles preached. The jailer asked Paul and Silas, WHAT MUST I DO TO BE SAVED? They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus and YOU WILL BE SAVED..." Acts 16:30-31
We still have to keep His Commandment to love if we want to see His Kingdom.
1 John 3: 23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as he gave us commandment.
1 Thessalonians 1: 2—4 We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers; Remembering without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of God and our Father; Knowing, brethren beloved, your election of God.
James 2: 21—24 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
All this continues to baffle me through my entire life....God, if there is one gave us free will, i have a bad feeling that ALL religion is meant to control us to the point where free will does not exist. Am i wrong?
@Heb59 -Has God declared YOU righteous? Do you ever commit sins regardless of how small you perceive them to be? Yes, a person who sins belongs to the Devil, which is the condition of ALL humans until they've been Born Again. The Pharassies prided themselves on being Holy & Righteous, were devout men of God, continuously quoted scriptures day and night, were among the custodians of God's Laws to the Jews, but yet, Jesus told them >"your father is the Devil." WHY? > They needed to be Born Again.
@CampingsCultCollapse Salvation is by Faith and Works. Having faith that Jesus can forgive our sins and give us the grace to live in holiness leads to salvation. Without belief there is no forgiveness nor the power from Jesus to live in holiness which is necessary to be in heaven. See Heb 12:14
@Heb59 -Your ability to "live in holiness" does NOT come from you, it comes from God. If it came from you, then it would also mean that you had to do something to do with becoming "holy" which you didn't. One becomes "holy" upon being Born of God's Spirit, through Faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is NOT by Faith plus Works, you are directly contradicting Eph 2:8-9. God does NOT contradict Himself. The problem you're having is you have NOT yet rightfully divided the Word of Truth (2 Tim 2:15).
"The work of God is this: to believe in the one he sent."
Even faith itself is a work, and saving faith is not something you muster up on the way to an altar call; Faith is given to you in the sacrament of Baptism.
@WayOfTheMaster454 - There is NO such thing as "saving faith." This is NOT mentioned in the Bible. Anyone who has Faith in Jesus Christ has been Born Again period, and this is NOT of themselves, it is a GIFT of God so that no one can boast. The Faith that such an individual has was given to them by God. What people typically do is they attempt to judge who is and who is not saved based on what they see someone doing. Either a person is Born of God's Spirit, which is incorrptible, or they're not.
Here's your problem. You have to square your doctrine with what Jesus says. You can't dismiss His teaching without employing some theological slight of hand. You have to negate the simple and direct communications of Christ because if you don't or can't, then you become accountable for what He requires of you, which very simply stated is obedience. You must obey Him. "He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation" The gospel of grace follows that path. There's no other way
I find it ironic for you to say "Put the theology away" only to embark upon paragraph after paragraph of theology, or rather speculation, most of which denies that salvation is not of man's will but God's. Sadly, the irony doesn't amuse me.
@gore53 I find it strange that you would lie so. You accused him of "paragraph after paragraph... of speculation" Yet, what he gave you was verse after verse of straight NT Scripture, which you clearly reject.
That's worse than odd. That shows that your confidence isn't in God or His Word, but in a "doctrine" (with Stevie Wonder's confirmation) that you have firmly placed in your mind that you won't let God's Holy Word interfere with.
Who told you that you could pick and choose Scripture?
@911dispatcher shadyhill didn't supply any scripture. And even if he did, I have no doubt it would be out context, written to a different audience than us, Gentiles, under the doctrine given to St. Paul. Do you divide the Word, or do you skip around to find scripture which will support a doctrine, say, that of Lordship Salvation. Adding to Faith man's effort is a huge mistake. Works NEVER please God. How can finite match Infinite. Can't be done. If you are, quit trying. Abide means rest in Him.
@911dispatcher The Pharisees also knew the word. Jesus told him they searched the Scriptures and yet did not find Him there. So given a choice what is better, to know Him or to know Scripture? There are plenty of theologians, learned men, guys and gals with degrees from major theological institutes, who confound the simplicity of the Gospel. I know enough of God's word: That we're saved by grace, through faith alone, and this not of ourselves. I also love Jesus because He first loved me.
@911dispatcher The Bible in fact tells us to rightly divide the word of truth. If you're keen on not cherry picking scripture, could you do me a favor. Obey this one: "they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them." Now that's one to overlook, or say it was for back then, or is it for someone else but not you? Get's a little uncomfortable pretending to obey all of God's word. It's called hypocrisy. Look forward to your video drinking rat poison.
Put the theology away. He who commits sin is the slave of sin, He who practices sin is of the devil. No immoral or impure person or covetous man…has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience. Therefore you do not be partakers with them.
Inheritance is the key thought here, because it is your own children that inherit from you. God threatens to disinherit His disobedient kids.
Spend a week or a month and read just what Jesus says in the gospels. This will be the beginning of building an understanding of what the New Testament is truly saying. His words are absolute and authoritative. "He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.
His words will be our judge in the end. Did we obey or did we disobey. If you hear His words and don't do them you are a fool He says. If you don't do what He says, He is not your Lord. It’s the one who does the will of the Father who will enter the kingdom of heaven. Who are my brothers and sisters and mother(family)? Those who hear the word of God and do it!! Be doers not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Narrow gate , narrow way, few there be that find it. It's on and on.
You've got to follow Jesus bro, not the religious leaders. Religion hasn't changed since Christ walked the earth, they draw near with their lips, but their hearts are far away, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men. That's why we are told so much about being deceived. "LET NO MAN DECEIVE YOU"
The grace of Christ is to satisfy the Law which brings in life through His Spirit. The grace of God’s Spirit in us is to enable us to live to fulfill His words. Grace is God doing what I can’t do.
I previously said there are two justifications based on two economies, Law and Grace. Law and grace is the template to understand justification. We are justified under law by faith in Christ and His work because we can't fulfill the law. That's the "not of works" part, directed at our futility of keeping the law, because only He can keep it. Our union with Christ thru faith in Christ's death on the cross(curse of the Law) then justifies us in relation to Law.
@shadyrill U have just described grace here. I agree...we are justified because of our faith in Christ and his perfect obedience being reckoned to us. Justification means to be pronounced not guilty...there is no threat of hell. Now u cant say there are two justifications....thats dumb, cause if ur justified by faith and then u can lose it because u sinned....u never were justified. U shouldnt use that word. Paul does though. Justification is a present experience, glorification is future.
@Aaron637 Future glorification to us, yes, in that we haven't had the experience. And yet, to God, 'Who calls that are not as though they were" it has already happened. Done deal, no turning back, signed-sealed-delivered (Stevie Wonder) and Amazing Grace... Rom: 8:30 puts them all past tense: He foreknew, called, justified, glorified. Awesome, Wonderful, God
We then enter into the economy of grace, raised up to walk in newness of life, where now possessing God's life we are to work out our salvation with fear and trembling because God is at work within us. Paul argues against "dead works", works of law and flesh. James argues against "dead faith", faith without works under the dispensation of grace. They agree on this point,
Neither one will save you!! Justification by faith w/o works is not the whole gospel. We live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Faith w/o works brings us into grace, then works of faith are necessary under the economy of grace and are endorsed by Jesus repeated demand that we are to do what He says. If you love Me you keep My commandments. If you don't obey, Me you don't love Me. Love will be the final judgment. Did you love Me? Did you love your neighbor?
I really appreciated the juxtaposition he made of being guilty and forgiven, and being not guilty, towards the end. The latter is much more powerful, scandalous, and biblical. Praise God for Jesus!
Jesus tells us over and over, "Do what I say". "Do what I say". "Why do you call Me Lord, if you don't do what I say? Any theology that dismisses the necessity of obedience to Jesus Christ, is in direct conflict with the clear instruction of Jesus Christ.
1Tim 6:3-4 If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, he is conceited and understands nothing
Under grace we are now "seeking to be justified in Christ" Gal 2:17. We "have been justified" to law Rom 5:1. Now we are "seeking to be justified" under grace. We are now to "work out our salvation with fear and trembling because God is at work in us to will and to do". Hence the insistance upon good works that we see in the NT. We will be justified by our works. "Well done" good and faithful servant. Don't be deceived, God is not mocked, whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
@shadyrill You have just put forth law as 'grace'. Thats not the gospel. Faith alone saves. Not faith plus works...thats catholic theology. There was a reformation for that very reason. Its not grace if its conditioned on our performance...thats conditional love and we are earning our salvation through obedience. I dont care about the word play anyone attempts saying 'no we dont earn it'. It amounts to that. Believe on christ and you will be saved. Period. Out of gratitude we then work.
@Aaron637 I have put forth the obedience of the faith. Paul said "to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles" Jesus said, "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him" Jn 3:36. Obedience is the fruit of faith. Disobedience is the fruit of unbelief. By their fruits you know them. Jesus said, Continue in My words, you will be my disciples. STOP following theologians, start following Jesus.
@shadyrill Problem with theology? Piper is one man. Tell me then is a man justified by faith alone or faith plus works? Romans or james? To say both is a contradiction. "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness" (Rom. 4:5).
or
24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. (james 2:24)
What is it? Faith apart from working or faith with working. Seriously. Ones grace the other merit.
@Aaron637 "Grace" is a translation of "chariti" in Greek original Gospel, meaning "charitable mindset" and is used hardly at all there. It never meant non-disgrace (taboo and totem violations), as you can tell from Jesus' incessant violations of taboos in Gospel. Jesus was made a target of scandal by ethnic bigots. Crucifixion was a disgrace, for naughty words in His case, regarding refounding Zion in 3 eras.
As grace has inverted in meaning, use "charitable mindset" instead. We are in Era 2.
@cloudbusterman Romans 4:3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” 4 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. 5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, 6just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works
grace- Theres no need for a lexicon when its defined by scripture
Two different justifications based on two different economies, Law and Grace. Under law we are justified by faith w/o works. Christ does the work. His work brings an end to law as a means to righteousness. His final act is the cross. The curse is placed on Him. He says, "It is finished" meaning the law has been satisfied. The cross is the bridge between law and grace. His death completes the law, His resurrection brings in grace, the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
"Therefore having been justified by faith we have peace with God thru our Lord Jesus Christ thru whom we have also obtained our access by faith into this grace... Rom 5:1
Can you see it? Justified under law by faith without works. Christ did the work. Christ is the end of the law. Bringing us into grace. Justified under grace by works of faith just like James says. Under law it's faith w/o works. Under grace it's works of faith that justifies us. Under grace Paul says "work out your salvation"
16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” 17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 “Which ones?” he inquired. Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,’[c] and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’
[1] Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: True meaning you have the faith in what the Lord, said and did on earth and believe His commandments and new laws he left for us. You can not just read one or two lines and base your entire belief or commit to a new religion.
I find it interesting that the only place the Bible speaks of "Faith Alone" is in the book of James....when it says, "You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. James 2:24
My faith in HIS faithfulness. Love the study on "the faith of Christ"
Galatians 2:16 Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Philippians 3:9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
Romans 4:25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
Correct. Salvation actually doesn't come from fruit of the Spirit. Salvation comes from God marking us with His anointing. Salvation means redemption, not "faith."
Outworking of love: Charity. Love is Greater than Faith.

Justification by Faith Alone is correct. We trust that God is forgiving us of our sins through the eternal atonement of His Son Jesus Christ. This is where we get the verbiage: Saved by Grace and You Aren't Saved by Works. But let's not suffer the ball to drop there and leave babes in Christ in the lurch!
@gtepp031387 No. Of course not. God's Spirit motivates us to do His will. If we don't want the things that God wants, then guess what? We want the things that we want. And who said this first? Satan.
There would honestly have to be a part two to this video that answers the newborn Christian's question, "Okay. I'm saved. So, now what?" Because this is where the parable (that Jesus made in ALL OF THE EPISTLES GOSPELS) of the seed and the type of ground (type of faith) was planted in. Big topic that someone might want to cover in a YouTube video. I don't have the equipment.
I have the Spirit, whom burdens me to make requests for the lost. But, if you have the equipment: GO FOR IT! I like the evangelistic works of Mark Cahill, specifically "One Heartbeat Away." Visit my channel for links to how to get free witnessing/ books for either yourself or as your own personal witnessing tool.
And remember, we are all knit into the family of God. If you have a saving knowledge of the gospel, then you really need to be out there sharing it with others, and forget about what Hellywood and mainstream media are leavening your flesh and killing your spirit and robbing you soul with! God bless!
If we choose to live under man's laws once we've accepted our new life in Christ, it means that we again put Him to an open shame, thereby rejecting His grace. We remember that His yoke is easy, His burden light.
Meaning, we do have a choice and choosing to follow the world's corruptive rules and regulations like we don't know right from wrong nor accept God's provision for our daily lives, is to fall back to the ways of perdition, and we are, consequently, blotted out of the Lamb's Book of Life and condemned.
So, it is our choice, since God has always given us a free will: we will choose to serve Him (depend on and cooperate with Him) or we will choose to serve mammon (relying on man's arm, as if it were some "better thing" for us; condemnation for rejecting He and His grace).
Oh! yeah! By the way: This is where we get our current 501c3 nonprofit government agency apostate churches that God told us to come out of in the books of Isaiah and Revelation! It's the old warning about "A Call to Repentance" and "Kingdom at Hand" that He was getting at concerning His next big wipeout of our hideously perverse age.
RockSprites, no I do not "keep the law." God's laws are written on the fleshy tablets of my heart, where He put them once I accepted He and His righteousness. I live under God's grace and He is taking wonderful care of me. I am not a Mormon. Are you?
St. Paul says in 2 Cor 7:10 For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death. Acts 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: 35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
If You Think You're Saved by Faith, Satan Loves You!
5 But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God; 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds: 7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
If You Think You're Saved by Faith, Satan Loves You!
8 But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, 9 Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; 10 But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: 11 For there is no respect of persons with God.
If You Think You're Saved by Faith, Satan Loves You!
12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; 13 (For not the hearers of the law are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.
Satan is loving all of these endless disputes that the churches bring in over what is and what isn't faith unto salvation because it keeps us from developing our relationship with God in Christ Jesus, and from serving God in this lifetime.
Satan knows, then, that he has our souls. He knows that if he can keep people distracted, then it means that there are actually LESS people working for God. And if Satan can just manage to keep people contained in their idle babbling and endless childish disputes, He can keep dragging out his time here on earth.
Even Satan knows God's ultimate Commandment for His chosen is to go out and to spread the gospel of His grace and truth in love. But if Satan can just succeed in getting selfish people to instead serve him, then Jesus' second return will then be prolonged.
12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains (*Paraphrasing: Get out of the cities!):
After all. Isn't that what the childish refuting is all about: Who gets the responsibility of saving our souls from damnation? Make no mistake, God is no respecter of men. We are fully responsible not only for our deeds and misdeeds, but also what God has given us. Including our Spirit, and including His Living Word!
"Church" has brainwashed sheeple to believe the lie that our "salvation" rests solely on 1—2 Scriptures out of God's New Testament about "believing on the name of Jesus Christ." There is much more to God's expectation of His redeemed once He has given us our fruits and our gifts of the Spirit, not to mention the power of His indwelling Holy Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5: 19; Ephesians 4: 30)
9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless. 11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. 13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
14 These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: 15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
In reality, what is expected of born again Children of God is that we remain pure and that we stay reconciled to Him in this lifetime so that He can teach us all that we need to know (God's vs. man's wisdom (James 3: 13—18). Then we do not always have to rely upon the teachings of man.
"Be ye reconciled to God" 2 Corinthians 5:19—21 is also for the purpose of hearing what we want to when we stand before Him in judgment of our very souls. Read Scriptures on the term "overcoming/ overcomers" if you don't believe that we will be judged for our soul salvation, because that is exactly what God means by being judged for recompense or for reward (James 1: 12, Revelation 2: 10).
But, what we want to hear from God in Christ Jesus is, "Well done, my good and faithful servant. You may enter into the joy of my rest." We want to be profitable for Him in this lifetime. We can only do this by way of His Spirit living in us, empowering us, and refining us to be more like Him.
This is what a "ministry" is. It is about God, it's not about us, and it's definitely not about any church! The alternative to never developing this relationship with God and learning heavenly wisdom is to hear His words, "Depart from me, you iniquitous worker. I never knew you."
And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. 13 Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. 14 For many are called, but few are chosen.
For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. 30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
31 When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory: 32 And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divideth his sheep from the goats: 33 And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.
Obviously this guy hasent read the 5 books of Moses... So what this guy is saying is that all those Nazis, as long as they "have faith" can go to a place called "Heaven" when all those innocent Jews who dont "believe" get to go to Hell. The god I believe in dosent work that way. Torah is the way to go.
Faith alone SHALL NOT save you, read the second chapter of the Letter of James and your eyes will be opened. Believe me. By the way, nice number at the end of your name Salvation Eternity777.
This guy apparently does not think that the Gospel of Matthew is the word of God. Read Matthew 5:17 - 20 and 19:17 You can't just consider the parts that you like. This man has only a partial understanding of Christianity. Kind of sad, but all too common. Most "Christians" have a very selective view of the NT.
"We trust Jesus alone as the basis of our justification" -John Piper "Not anything we do, or are, or God helps us to do." - John Piper. These seem like contradictory statements. If it's not anything we do or are that makes Jesus the basis of our justification, then doesn't that also include our "trusting Jesus alone as the basis of our justification?" "Trusting" seems to be something that we "do." Any thoughts?
@SickCreek I will try to give this a try. I am becoming a Christian and trying to learn more about it. When he says "DO". He is referring to people having the idea that we can "WORK" our way towards the good creator God.
The reality is that Christianity is the only religion where God comes into the earth as a man to save us, where in other religions we have to work our way out. The trust that jesus will save us is the reformed belief. Trust is not action, but an internal action. You following?
The judge verdict is guilty with a priced paid, not righteous.Faith does not make union it makes justification. Union comes from the Melchesidek priesthood effectual. There must be a Priest to make union satisfying not only sin but the perpetual virtues of God's good Nature.Union of One comes from Jesus the Priest not the cross alone. He who makes One has magnified goodness not justice grace alone
Thank you so much John for your honest understanding of God & his workings! You are a shining light of the Lord's preachings of the Father and of the Son's reasoning and teachings.Thank you so much! You say it as if the Lord was talking to YOU! It seems like he is!You are touched by him! Thank You!!
Justified by faith. Amen. But Romans 6 (esp. 3,4,5) comes BETWEEN chapter 5.1 and 8.1 ... See also how Galatians 3.27 is set forth as the "evidence" (so to speak) of 3.26.

@researchOne23 I doubt you fully understand them or even a word of what they truly mean. I don't say that to mock you, but that's just the truth.
I was a lost sinner indulging in sin before I believed in Christ. I lived a reckless life. When I came to Christ, all my sins were gone, and I was freed.
I desire that joy for you, but you feel the need to be rude in your posts to me sometimes. Do as you please, I've told you the gospel.
@researchOne23 Your words indicate you know nothing about the Bible.
Many claim they have "read" the Bible, but their words testify against them.
I witness to the gospel here like someone trying to snatch people out of the fire that is their sins. You are enslaved to your sins, and this gospel can set you free. The truth of Christ will set you free.
If you continue to be rude in your posts, I will block you.
@researchOne23 Claiming to be wise, they became fools. (Rom 1)
My friend, repent of your sins. Jesus Christ commands you that you would stop and give up your life of rebellion, and follow Him because He's worthy of your service. The joy in it is unspeakable indeed, to willingly deny it is to be truly blind.
@researchOne23 I'm not sure if I get your question. Are you saying does a person stay in hell for a few years and get out?
To sin against an infinite God demands infinite punishment. The authority of God is so great that your sin is infinitely horrid against Him. Therefore your punishment is eternal, and there is no hope in any amount of years.
Should that not encourage you to Jesus Christ? Because Christ promises us life if we come to Him. Will you not then comply?
@researchOne23 To twist the truth of God for your own destruction is what you're doing my friend.
Jesus Christ calls you to repent of sin. This is the Gospel, that God sent His son to die for sinners so that those same sinners may have life by believing in His name. That is in fact what God calls you to do this day. If you will not, you must bear your own punishment in eternal hell because that is the wage of your sin. God cannot stand sin and you must therefore repent.
You said in your post a bit back that claiming truth is fallible, are you not fallible then?
---
Open up the Bible to the book of John, and read it. I will provide any commentary you'd like. You need Jesus Christ, what will you say to Him when you stand before Him? You're going to be accountable to God like all of us, and there's no safety unless you are found forgiven in His name!
"My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."
The scripture teaches that we are "all under sin", which means, whether we realize it or not, that we are "all under law" also. Sin only exists and operates in the context of God's law. There is no sin without law. Sin is a violation of the law. There can be no sin without law.
shadyrill 5 days ago
"Through the law is the knowledge of sin" Rom 3:20. "Where there is no law, neither is there violation" Rom 4:15. "Sin is not accounted when there is no law" Rom 5:13. "I would not have known what sin was except through the law" Rom 7:7. "Apart from the law, sin is dead" Rom 7:8. If we are "all under sin" then we are "all under law".
We all must explore the claim of God's law on "all men" in the NT, Jew or Gentile. Whether written on tables of stone or written on the tables of men's hearts.
shadyrill 5 days ago
The progression from being under Law to being under Grace is the key to understanding the two different representations of justification, whether by "faith without works" or by "works of faith".
All men are born under law, Jew or Gentile. Check out Rom 2:12-16; 3:19-20; 5:12-14; 7:7-8. Gal 3:13; 3:22-24; 4:3-5.
We are justified in relation to Law by Christ's work in our behalf(faith w/o works) as a prerequisite to entering an economy of grace where we are justified by works of faith.

We are saved from our past sins as a free gift. Eph 2:8.
We were saved for a purpose, to do good works which God prepares. Eph 2:10.
God does not prepare filthy rags. We die to self and the flesh to do HIS works.
We were called to bear the fruit of righteous works. It is God at work in us.
If we do not bear the fruit of good works, we are cut down and thrown into the fire. Jesus said so.

GodzRod 4 weeks ago

TheOldBeef 3 months ago
@TheOldBeef When a person exercises faith in Christ he is born again. When he is born again he receives the Holy Spirit to lead and guide him. That means faith alone in Christ alone. Nevertheless one in Christ is led by Christ. Asked what Luther would replace works with he said, CHRIST.
pegcage 3 months ago
@pegcage uh, the Bible says you are justified not by faith alone (James 2:24), and your comment is nonsensical and has nothing to do with what I said.
TheOldBeef 3 months ago

@TheOldBeef If you do not think my comment was relevant, then you do not understand the Bible or the gospel. It is Christ that produces the good works in us, but we must first enter into Christ by the new birth. At that moment we are justified, before there are any good works at all. Good works are what Christ produces, not us.
pegcage 3 months ago
@TheOldBeef No man can put a believer in Christ under law. We are under Christ's law alone, which is the law of Love. Love God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength and your neighbor as yourself. I do not need to answer to man's institutions to obey Christ. To reach that state we are justified by faith alone and set free in Christ.
danieltwelve3 3 months ago
@danieltwelve3 I don't need to answer to man's institutions either. But the Bible says you are justified not by faith alone rather than that you are justified by faith alone (James 2:24). Nothing I said had anything to do with man's law.

Salvation by faith alone is counter to scripture. See Heb 5:9, John 3:36, James 2:24
Heb59 4 months ago
@Heb59 - No, Salvation by faith alone is NOT counter to scripture. YOU are! The reason why is you have NOT learned how to rightfully divide the word of Truth, by the Spirit of God. As I said, you are attempting to bring scriptures that you think prove that Salvation is by Faith + Works, totally ignorning Eph 2:8-9 that VERY CLEARLY says > "Salvation is NOT OF YOURSELF, NOT OF WORKS." You totally disregard this part of God's Word, instead of reconciling all of God's Word. There's a difference.
TheExpertTheologian 4 months ago
@TheExpertTheologian Heb 5:9 states that salvation is for those who obey. John 3:36 says faith + works are necessary to go to heaven. It says if one has faith in Jesus and obeys Jesus one will have eternal life. Eph 2:10 shows that salvation requires good works. Eph 5:5 says no immoral and impure will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Cor 13:13 says love is greater than faith. 1 Cor 13:2 says that if we faith but do not have love we are nothing. James 2:24 says we are justified by faith and works.
Heb59 4 months ago
@Heb59 -"No immoral and impure will inherit the Kingdom of God", has to do with ALL those who have NOT been born of God's Spirit through Faith Jesus Christ's Blood Atonement, which is a GIFT of God. It certainly has nothing to do with your works. Your "works" will NEVER make you righteous in God's sight; the Pharassies thought this too just like YOU. God declares the ungodly righteous through their Faith in Jesus Christ, which has to do with OBEYING THE GOSPEL that was preached by the Apostles.
TheExpertTheologian 4 months ago
@TheExpertTheologian In Eph 1:5, Paul is imploring born again Christians in Ephesus not to sin because no immoral or impure person, Christian or non-Christian, will go to heaven. Faith only salvaiton is a deception. In Eph 5:6-8 Paul again warns born again Christans not to believe in faith only salvation and that the disobedient will see God's wrath. Works could not save the pharisees because they did not believe in Jesus. Salvation requires faith in Jesus and obedience.
Heb59 4 months ago
@TheExpertTheologian There a lot of good hearted Christians who believe in sola scriptura which is not Biblical. This unbiblical method leads to man made traditions like salvation by faith alone. Truth is passed down to us by oral tradition and scripture. 1 Cor 11:2, 2 Thess 2:15, 2 Thess 3:6. oral tradition and scripture teach that we are saved by faith and works(love).
Heb59 4 months ago
@Heb59 -When you stand before God to give an account of your life, which everyone will do, make sure you have thoroughly memorized and are ready to discuss with God ALL the things that YOU have done through your works to earn salvation and maintain staying saved! Also, John 3:36 does NOT say "faith + works are necessary to go to heaven", this is what YOU are saying. John 3:36 says > "He that believeth on the Son HAS everlasting life: and he that believeth NOT the Son shall not see life..."
TheExpertTheologian 4 months ago

TheExpertTheologian 4 months ago
@TheExpertTheologian Faith and Works does not contradict God, it glorifies Him. Jesus' life is faith and works. He believed in the Father and He also obeyed the Father to his death. 1 Cor 6:20 says we "have been purchased at a price. Therefore glorify God in your body." Rom 12:1 says we are to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice. Our works glorify God and is required for salvation. Interpreting the Bible without oral tradition(1 Cor 11:2) leads to false ideas like "faith alone".
Heb59 4 months ago
If we do not love God, we cannot enter heaven. To love God is to obey his commandment. (John 14:5, 14:21). John 15:6 says that if we do not remain in Jesus, we will be thrown into hell. John 15:10 says that to remain in Jesus means to obey his commandments. John 15:17 Jesus commands us to love one another. Faith and Works are needed for salvation. Faith alone arose based on the unbiblical belief in sola scriptura. Bible clearly teaches that truth comes from oral tradition and Bible. 2 Thes 2:15
Heb59 4 months ago
There are two parts to being righteous before God. The first is being forgiven our sins by faith which is addressed in Roman 4. The second is by obdedience to God which is addressed in all of Romans 6. But read Rom 6:16 which says sin leads to death and obedience leads to righteousness. Paul clearly teaches as well as James (2:14-26) that faith and works are necessary for salvation. No contradiction in the Bible. Faith alone leads to contradiction and overlooks verses. Faith + Works.
Heb59 4 months ago

Heb59 4 months ago
@CampingsCultCollapse Salvation is by Faith and Works. Having faith that Jesus can forgive our sins and give us the grace to live in holiness leads to salvation. Without belief there is no forgiveness nor the power from Jesus to live in holiness which is necessary to be in heaven. See Heb 12:14
Heb59 4 months ago
@Heb59 -Your ability to "live in holiness" does NOT come from you, it comes from God. If it came from you, then it would also mean that you had to do something to do with becoming "holy" which you didn't. One becomes "holy" upon being Born of God's Spirit, through Faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is NOT by Faith plus Works, you are directly contradicting Eph 2:8-9. God does NOT contradict Himself.

There's no other way
shadyrill 8 months ago
I find it ironic for you to say "Put the theology away" only to embark upon paragraph after paragraph of theology, or rather speculation, most of which denies that salvation is not of man's will but God's. Sadly, the irony doesn't amuse me.
gore53 8 months ago
@gore53 I find it strange that you would lie so. You accused him of "paragraph after paragraph... of speculation" Yet, what he gave you was verse after verse of straight NT Scripture, which you clearly reject.
That's worse than odd. That shows that your confidence isn't in God or His Word, but in a "doctrine" (with Stevie Wonder's confirmation) that you have firmly placed in your mind that you won't let God's Holy Word interfere with.
Who told you that you could pick and choose Scripture?
911dispatcher 7 months ago
@911dispatcher shadyhill didn't supply any scripture. And even if he did, I have no doubt it would be out context, written to a different audience than us, Gentiles, under the doctrine given to St. Paul. Do you divide the Word, or do you skip around to find scripture which will support a doctrine, say, that of Lordship Salvation. Adding to Faith man's effort is a huge mistake. Works NEVER please God. How can finite match Infinite. Can't be done. If you are, quit trying. Abide means rest in Him.
gore53 7 months ago
@gore53 Most of what he said was Scripture. You don't recognize Scripture unless you see chapters and numbers with colons next to it?
It seems the problem here is that you don't the Word.

Therefore you do not be partakers with them.
shadyrill 8 months ago
Inheritance is the key thought here, because it is your own children that inherit from you. God threatens to disinherit His disobedient kids.
Spend a week or a month and read just what Jesus says in the gospels. This will be the beginning of building an understanding of what the New Testament is truly saying. His words are absolute and authoritative. "He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.
shadyrill 8 months ago
His words will be our judge in the end. Did we obey or did we disobey. If you hear His words and don't do them you are a fool He says. If you don't do what He says, He is not your Lord. It’s the one who does the will of the Father who will enter the kingdom of heaven. Who are my brothers and sisters and mother(family)? Those who hear the word of God and do it!! Be doers not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Narrow gate , narrow way, few there be that find it. It's on and on.
shadyrill 8 months ago
You've got to follow Jesus bro, not the religious leaders. Religion hasn't changed since Christ walked the earth, they draw near with their lips, but their hearts are far away, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men. That's why we are told so much about being deceived. "LET NO MAN DECEIVE YOU"
The grace of Christ is to satisfy the Law which brings in life through His Spirit. The grace of God’s Spirit in us is to enable us to live to fulfill His words. Grace is God doing what I can’t do.
shadyrill 8 months ago
I previously said there are two justifications based on two economies, Law and Grace. Law and grace is the template to understand justification. We are justified under law by faith in Christ and His work because we can't fulfill the law. That's the "not of works" part, directed at our futility of keeping the law, because only He can keep it. Our union with Christ thru faith in Christ's death on the cross(curse of the Law) then justifies us in relation to Law.
shadyrill 8 months ago
@shadyrill U have just described grace here. I agree...we are justified because of our faith in Christ and his perfect obedience being reckoned to us. Justification means to be pronounced not guilty...there is no threat of hell. Now u cant say there are two justifications....thats dumb, cause if ur justified by faith and then u can lose it because u sinned....u never were justified. U shouldnt use that word. Paul does though. Justification is a present experience, glorification is future.
Aaron637 8 months ago
@Aaron637 Future glorification to us, yes, in that we haven't had the experience. And yet, to God, 'Who calls that are not as though they were" it has already happened. Done deal, no turning back, signed-sealed-delivered (Stevie Wonder) and Amazing Grace... Rom: 8:30 puts them all past tense: He foreknew, called, justified, glorified. Awesome, Wonderful, God
gore53 8 months ago
We then enter into the economy of grace, raised up to walk in newness of life, where now possessing God's life we are to work out our salvation with fear and trembling because God is at work within us. Paul argues against "dead works", works of law and flesh. James argues against "dead faith", faith without works under the dispensation of grace. They agree on this point,
shadyrill 8 months ago
Neither one will save you!! Justification by faith w/o works is not the whole gospel. We live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Faith w/o works brings us into grace, then works of faith are necessary under the economy of grace and are endorsed by Jesus repeated demand that we are to do what He says. If you love Me you keep My commandments. If you don't obey, Me you don't love Me. Love will be the final judgment. Did you love Me? Did you love your neighbor?

Thank goodness. I can stay in bed now and not have to worry about a think. Love it!
RealJesusforAtheists 8 months ago
I really appreciated the juxtaposition he made of being guilty and forgiven, and being not guilty, towards the end. The latter is much more powerful, scandalous, and biblical. Praise God for Jesus!
richierice77 9 months ago
Jesus tells us over and over, "Do what I say". "Do what I say". "Why do you call Me Lord, if you don't do what I say? Any theology that dismisses the necessity of obedience to Jesus Christ, is in direct conflict with the clear instruction of Jesus Christ.
1Tim 6:3-4 If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, he is conceited and understands nothing
shadyrill 9 months ago
Under grace we are now "seeking to be justified in Christ" Gal 2:17. We "have been justified" to law Rom 5:1. Now we are "seeking to be justified" under grace. We are now to "work out our salvation with fear and trembling because God is at work in us to will and to do". Hence the insistance upon good works that we see in the NT. We will be justified by our works. "Well done" good and faithful servant. Don't be deceived, God is not mocked, whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
shadyrill 9 months ago
@shadyrill You have just put forth law as 'grace'. Thats not the gospel. Faith alone saves. Not faith plus works...thats catholic theology. There was a reformation for that very reason. Its not grace if its conditioned on our performance...thats conditional love and we are earning our salvation through obedience. I dont care about the word play anyone attempts saying 'no we dont earn it'. It amounts to that. Believe on christ and you will be saved. Period. Out of gratitude we then work.
Aaron637 8 months ago
@Aaron637 I have put forth the obedience of the faith. Paul said "to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles" Jesus said, "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him" Jn 3:36. Obedience is the fruit of faith. Disobedience is the fruit of unbelief. By their fruits you know them. Jesus said, Continue in My words, you will be my disciples. STOP following theologians, start following Jesus.
shadyrill 8 months ago
@shadyrill Problem with theology? Piper is one man. Tell me then is a man justified by faith alone or faith plus works? Romans or james? To say both is a contradiction. "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness" (Rom. 4:5).
or
24 You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. (james 2:24)
What is it? Faith apart from working or faith with working. Seriously. Ones grace the other merit.
Aaron637 8 months ago
@Aaron637 "Grace" is a translation of "chariti" in Greek original Gospel, meaning "charitable mindset" and is used hardly at all there. It never meant non-disgrace (taboo and totem violations), as you can tell from Jesus' incessant violations of taboos in Gospel. Jesus was made a target of scandal by ethnic bigots. Crucifixion was a disgrace, for naughty words in His case, regarding refounding Zion in 3 eras.
As grace has inverted in meaning, use "charitable mindset" instead. We are in Era 2.
cloudbusterman 8 months ago
@cloudbusterman Romans 4:3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” 4 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt. 5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, 6just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works
grace- Theres no need for a lexicon when its defined by scripture
Aaron637 8 months ago
Two different justifications based on two different economies, Law and Grace. Under law we are justified by faith w/o works. Christ does the work. His work brings an end to law as a means to righteousness. His final act is the cross. The curse is placed on Him. He says, "It is finished" meaning the law has been satisfied. The cross is the bridge between law and grace. His death completes the law, His resurrection brings in grace, the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
shadyrill 9 months ago
This is why we are told consistantly that we are going to be judged according to our works.
Mat 16:27 "For the Son of Man is going to come in the glory of His Father with His angels, and WILL THEN REPAY EVERY MAN ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS.
Rom 2:5-6... in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, who WILL RENDER TO EACH PERSON ACCORDING TO HIS DEEDS
1Pe 1:17 If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one's work
shadyrill 9 months ago
"Therefore having been justified by faith we have peace with God thru our Lord Jesus Christ thru whom we have also obtained our access by faith into this grace... Rom 5:1
Can you see it? Justified under law by faith without works. Christ did the work. Christ is the end of the law. Bringing us into grace. Justified under grace by works of faith just like James says. Under law it's faith w/o works. Under grace it's works of faith that justifies us. Under grace Paul says "work out your salvation"
shadyrill 9 months ago
16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?” 17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.” 18 “Which ones?” he inquired. Jesus replied, “‘You shall not murder, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not steal, you shall not give false testimony, 19 honor your father and mother,’[c] and ‘love your neighbor as yourself.’
J10ery 10 months ago
[1] Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: True meaning you have the faith in what the Lord, said and did on earth and believe His commandments and new laws he left for us. You can not just read one or two lines and base your entire belief or commit to a new religion.

If we choose to live under man's laws once we've accepted our new life in Christ, it means that we again put Him to an open shame, thereby rejecting His grace. We remember that His yoke is easy, His burden light.
SwordofSpirit1 11 months ago
Meaning, we do have a choice and choosing to follow the world's corruptive rules and regulations like we don't know right from wrong nor accept God's provision for our daily lives, is to fall back to the ways of perdition, and we are, consequently, blotted out of the Lamb's Book of Life and condemned.
SwordofSpirit1 11 months ago
So, it is our choice, since God has always given us a free will: we will choose to serve Him (depend on and cooperate with Him) or we will choose to serve mammon (relying on man's arm, as if it were some "better thing" for us; condemnation for rejecting He and His grace).

In reality, what is expected of born again Children of God is that we remain pure and that we stay reconciled to Him in this lifetime so that He can teach us all that we need to know (God's vs. man's wisdom (James 3: 13—18). Then we do not always have to rely upon the teachings of man.
SwordofSpirit1 1 year ago
"Be ye reconciled to God" 2 Corinthians 5:19—21 is also for the purpose of hearing what we want to when we stand before Him in judgment of our very souls. Read Scriptures on the term "overcoming/ overcomers" if you don't believe that we will be judged for our soul salvation, because that is exactly what God means by being judged for recompense or for reward (James 1: 12, Revelation 2: 10).

Justified by faith. Amen. But Romans 6 (esp. 3,4,5) comes BETWEEN chapter 5.1 and 8.1 ... See also how Galatians 3.27 is set forth as the "evidence" (so to speak) of 3.26.

@researchOne23 Sir, I've asked you to stop being rude. You're blocked now, these are channel rules.

SalvationEternity777 1 year ago
@researchOne23 Your words indicate you know nothing about the Bible.
Many claim they have "read" the Bible, but their words testify against them.
I witness to the gospel here like someone trying to snatch people out of the fire that is their sins. You are enslaved to your sins, and this gospel can set you free. The truth of Christ will set you free.
If you continue to be rude in your posts, I will block you.

@researchOne23 The scriptures are inspired by God.
Romans 1 rings true today, read it and you may find yourself fitting the description presented to certain persons in the chapter.
So I exhort you again to repent of your sin and turn to Jesus Christ. There's nothing made up here, this is all truth from the Bible.

@researchOne23 My friend you know not who God is, nor what the Bible actually teaches.
If you only knew about the surpassing greatness of knowing Jesus Christ. Believe upon Christ and you will have that joy.
This is not me sharing my opinion, this is me speaking the full blown truth in the Bible.

@researchOne23 If you want to quote the Bible, don't quote mine.
Are you quote mining the Bible?
If you are, then you yourself should realize there's nothing wrong with deleting those posts.

SalvationEternity777 1 year ago
@researchOne23 To twist the truth of God for your own destruction is what you're doing my friend.
Jesus Christ calls you to repent of sin. This is the Gospel, that God sent His son to die for sinners so that those same sinners may have life by believing in His name. That is in fact what God calls you to do this day. If you will not, you must bear your own punishment in eternal hell because that is the wage of your sin. God cannot stand sin and you must therefore repent.

“ Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith. " (Habakkuk 2:4)
We live by faith, not by sight.
Obedience is crucial, obedience to God and repentance from sin is what marks faith, but it is not what saves a sinner.

@researchOne23 "I know truth yes"
