Did you actualy tryed boosting your electromagnet with permanent magnet ?
I gues, that sum effect with addiational magnet connected to iron core will make no difference. However this ideia is used in speakers with permanent magnet as core. If had cylindric magnet large enough, I would definitly atempt to experiment with it.
By the way, did you made thouse? wire turns by your self ?
Nice work with your magnet ! I had the same problem with temeperature rise. You should try using some small aluminium radiator with fan at the top of your metal core. At higher tempereatures resistance tends to be bigger, so electromagnet is getting weeker.
By the way, how many amps are you using with your magnet ?
The better Solution would be to place another permanent magnet on top of the coil. Then, this permanent magnet lifts up the levitating magnet and the coil only has to regulate the position - and doesn`t have to lift anymore...

Yeah, i tried boosting it, it worked very well! I built everything by myself.

Hehe, I don`t exactly know, but less than 1 Amp.

Yes, simple Hall-effect sensor under the magnet.

Unfortunately, this version is not very good for a practical use - the magnet gets too hot (about 70°C).
I did this just as a hobby-project, I have no financial interests by building stuff like this...
