Don't let a dumb smart person sway your opinion about a fighter. He really has no idea what is gonna happen if Mayweather fights Pacquiao. Yes he can put his input in. But a fight is a fight.
@endgame I always have and it's because Bert is never short on solid points and good boxing sense. He's been reporting on the boxing game for so long that he's pretty much seen it all and always notes when history is repeating itself. He's also very critical of the current state of the heavyweight division and for good reason: it's absolute SHIT right now when it should be the main attraction.
Pacquiao agrees to smaller purse as long as the dream fight takes place. The subject of random blood testing is apparently a non-issue now since Arum had mentioned many times in the past month or so that Pacquiao has agreed to Mayweather’s demands. But the unbeaten boxing champ Floyd Mayweather, Jr won't enter the ring with Filipino boxing star Manny Pacquiao unless he gets $100 million in fight purse which will be just too much as there will be nothing left to share with Pac and the promoters.
Floyd started at 106? WTF is this guy talking about? Floyd started at 130 lbs.
There's nothing wrong with seeking an advantage. Drug testing isn't asking for that much; in fact, it is a good thing that Floyd is trying to bring proper drug testing into the sport, regardless if he is doing it as an advantage or not.
@TheNastyShitler Mayweather started at 106 when he was an amateur and lost six of his fights. Sugar is right. Manny started at 98, officially 106 (carried some weights on weigh-in). Research some more! Rocky Marciano was undefeated when he retired but Ali, who lost 4 or 5 fights, is considered the greatest (some consider Sugar Ray Robinson, who lost some, too). Thus, for Mayweather to say that he is the greatest, is a stretch. Also, he has few fights compared to the greats.
The difference is. Mayweather was 16 when he weighed 106 (and was amateur) & was 17 when he weighed 114.
Pac weighed 112 when he was 26.
As far as being the greatest, people have their opinions. I think Ali is overrated, I never saw Robinson fight. I personally think Tyson, Roy Jones are the greatest I'VE seen. Floyd is the best of this (7-8 year) time period.
@TheNastyShitler Again, you're inaccurate; Manny was 98# at 16 on his first professional fight in the 106 or 108 division, which fight he won. He was ineligible to fight at that weight and age, so he cheated on his weight and age. He was too young and light.
In regards to opinions, expert opinions have more weight than fans; in judicial courts, your opinion has no prayer. By the way, what credential do you have such that you expect to be believed???
@TheNastyShitler He started as an amateur at 106 wherein he lost six of his 84 fights. He went on as an amateur in the Olympics. Please, research your comments before posting any. We just go back and forth. After then, you can tell me that I was wrong.
its pathetic at how much one can hate on a person in boxing if that someone says something not particularly on the side of 'your guy'. If you don't agree leave it at that, otherwise your basically a fuckin sook seriously
Everything he said from beginning to the end is correct. Of course the mayweather fans will disagree and act like they know better come on your going to tell me you know more about boxing than him? Go somewhere.

Bert Sugar, Wrong again. Know why? because he is a mayweather hater. Pacquiao cant beat floyd, hence pac is running with slob arum leading the way. But elie, I see why Mayweather doesnt like you, you are a Pac nut hugger, bert sugar took pictures with manny's sparring partner and you are always reporting Pacquiao camp news. Your videos are weak because of it. If you wanna be respected in the reporting business, STOP BEING BIASED. Interview everyone not just the pac camp
He's right though, the only pride of Floyd is his record. His popularity is based on that, so if he loss his career would be dead. We all know that Floyd makes his living by boxing, so he has to avoid losing on fight otherwise he'll be broke. Don't hate this guy his statement is so damn true. Point black period
Floyd hasn't been 106 lbs since he was a 17 years old! 2 years later, he represented the US in the Olympics @ 125 lbs...that was in 1996! And if anyone can remember as well as I do, they were talking about how big he was for that weight class! in 96, Pacquiao was fighting as a PRO between 106-112 lbs. To say that they both started off @ 106 lbs is a Mr. Fantastic type of stretch.
Sugar is completely wrong for this...I expected a lot more from such a venerable man of the sport!
@Kingjd87: Which fight were you watching? JMM robbed 3 times? Get out of here! First fight, was declared a split draw because one judge erred in scoring the three KD round 10-7 instead of 10-6. MP should have won an MD on that one. Second fight was right on the one KD made the difference. Third fight, PunchStats have MP throwing and landing more shots. MP dictated the fight as the aggressor. It was a legit win for MP. MP will kill FMJ and he knows it. So no fight, FMJ=COWARD WEAKLING!
Not gonna lie, I lost some respect for Manny after Marquez got robbed for the 3rd time. Bob Arum is the devil. He destroys dreams! That's fucked up what he did to Marquez, Marq won by AT LEAST 4-5 rounds. Watch the fight over, he easily won by 4 rounds, at least.
Bert Sugar. nice! he has the same opinion that others have as well. It is understandable. A person would want to keep perfection, NO BLEMISH on the record. Pac does pose a threat to that perfection. Just hope that fights happens next year.
This guy really doesn't know what the f*ck he's talking about, I'll be honest. Manny actually picked the ring size and the glove type and the glove size, and put a 10 million penalty on FM (who has NEVER came in over 147 and usually is 146, so all that JMM bullshit, cut it out) Now onto Floyd's ZERO being his whole resume, wouldn't he want to add Manny ? if the other 11 champions 6 P4Pers 7 championships and 5 divisions don't matter ? And Manny's team ALWAYS stack things in his favor @ESNEWS
This doesnt look good for Floyd's leagcy if boxing historians like Bert Sugar feels its Floyd thats ducking Pacquiao after all is said and done if they never fought. Its gonnabe Bert Sugar writing the history of Floyd ducking boxers that can beat him and will bring him way down the list of greatest boxers of all time.Pacquiao on the other hand is the human that ever lived who had 8 division world titles. On the other hand there are too many boxers with 0 loss Marciano,Calzaghe,Valero etc.
@limodriver34 really then why does he duck pac? why does he have to cheat on the weight against Marquez when he already has all the advantages? Why does he have to sucker punch ortiz to win a belt? Look mom I won a belt. Mom - wow how did you win? floyd - I suckered punched the guy when he wasnt ready after hugging me to apologize for headbutting me. All my fans booed me and even throwed water at me I'm famous mom!! Arent you proud of me mom.
Sneakin Floyd aka Roadrunner will want to see and observe if Manny has slowed down a bit before Floyd will put his undefeated record (42-0) against Pacman. We could all bet that RunninFloyd will wait till Manny becomes President of the Philippines then he will call out Pacquiao to quit politics to meet him in the square ring!
Bert has interesting insight on the sport. But he threw me when he said Floyd's not scared of Pac man, just scared of losing. Which if he wasn't scared of Pac man losing wouldn't be an issue. People act like boxers have never ducked anyone before. It's like saying boxer's never juice, or never take a dive It's the fight game. The more people say Floyd is scared the bigger the odds, the bigger the purse, Floyd and Pac Man could both be scared, Floyd of getting beat, Pac Man of getting exposed.
Who gives a shit about odds, Bert Sugar is reading too much into it.
Hopkins was underdog vs. Trinidad, Pavlik
Victor Ortiz was underdog vs. Berto
Andre Ward was underdog vs. Kessler
Mosley was underdog vs. Margarito
Pacquiao was was underdog vs. De La Hoya and list goes on...
Also wasn't it Pacquiao's camp asking for a smaller ring and gloves. And didnt they ask for a 10 mil penalty for a every pound Mayweather is over the 147 limit.
@username7212345 The weight penalty is for the WEIGH IN. The reason is because Mayweather didn't honor the agreed upon weight for his fight against Marquez. Floyd came in 2 lbs over the weight limit for the weigh in for that fight.
@username7212345 no he is not wrong. Floyd did not face fraitas nor casamayor back in 2000 and 2001 at 130 lbs( when they were in good shape).Didn't make the weight with marques ( paid 6oo ooo to marquez ) ran more than he fought with De la Hoya, questionable win over Ortis, waited for mosley to be 39 years old. And Pacquiao.....Bert got it wright: a super start , think of Ali, Robinson, Leanard...never avoids anyone!!!
@username7212345 mayweather camp wanted biger ring so pacman camp came back they want smaller....mayweather wanted 100mil for fight so they brought in the weight pen......mayweathers the one whos come in with all the demands, pacman lets bob arum sort all those out.....i think mayweather is 60/40 fav to win but its close enough that he has tried to get out the fight coz he dodnt wana lose on his record
2.bob wants the fight on June 9th when may is suppose to be locked up Manny agreed to may 5th, bob didnt. manny can say 1thing, koncz can say one thing but bob arum has the final say, its ironic the conflict with arum and floyd stopped fights fromhappening cause floyd use tobe a top rank fighter and he said all the things about FMW he now says about manny its on video. now he slandered him for leaving
@casillas989 We can go back and forth with that argument, Floyd isn't letting the commission do their job.. but really.. it doesn't matter. Neither you nor anyone is going to win by debating on youtube.. if this fight happens, it happens. If it doesn't, it doesn't
@username7212345 Well said! One point , I'm not completely conviced he is a Pac fan (though I won't discount Arum's money) Alot of this has more to do with him being or not being in this case a power broker. Bert is a relic and it's tough to see your shine fad
He's not ducking Pacman, he's making another couple hundred mil fighting lesser competition and playing it safe. Belts and public opinion mean nothing, the only thing that matters is the $.
In my opinion, it is both their faults. Manny could just say "Ok, I will accept the olympic style drug testing" and see if Mayweather will still accept the fight. OR Mayweather could accept the 2nd round of negotiations where Pac agreed to take the blood test up up until two weeks of the fight (originally the compromise Mayweather's camp wanted Manny to take in the 1st round of talks that Manny eventually agreed to in the 2nd round of talks)
So what if Mayweather does lose. All the all time greats have lost before, Ali, Tyson, Fraizer, Leonard, Hearns, etc. Floyd would get more respect if him and Pacquiao just fought.
If Mayweather is afraid of losing, then how does he view himself as the best ever, because if he was the best ever, he would fight anybody and not lose, right? Mayweather is good, but no way is he the best ever, Sugar Ray Robinson and Leonard would both beat him and Hagler, Hearns and Duran would beat him too.
note when Sugar says that floyds record only means somthing because he is undefeated. What he was implying is that floyds resume since leaving 130 SUCKS BALLS. The only thing of note is the 0. He then makes it clear that floyd isn't anywhere near Robinson in terms of GOAT status. By Mayweathers own words "i don't fight to see who is best"
Floyd is a cancer on boxing and a mid lvl HOF candidate at best. He doesn't deserve to be mentioned with any of the greats!
I never liked Sugar. Armchair expert. Hack writer. I would like to shove that cigar up his ass. I hate these boxing parasites. Sweat and bleed motherfucker.
I've always said this about Floyd as Bert did in this interview. I love Floyd as I love Pacman &boxing. But the fact is, Floyd bases his greatness on being undefeated, which is not true. Cus D'Amato said it best, "U show your greatness when u lose &come back &win." Marciano was an undefeated great fighter but isn't in the top 3 heavy weights of all time. As for Floyd, he is & i quote, "I'm a prizefighter!" He never fights a fight he cant win, which is smart for his pocket but not for his legacy.
I used to think manny was better cos he was more exciting. Frankly I detest both of them and I couldn't care less if they never fight, but I do think that mannys unwillingness to take a simple blood test (and he blamed the morales loss on a blood test) is very suspicious. Maybe he just doesn't like floyd or... maybe manny doesn't wanna fight him and is using the blood as an excuse... who really knows what's in their minds?
@upcominboxa330 Bert Sugar never was a boxer LOL he is one of the most respected boxing writers in the history of the sport though. Having been the editor and publisher of both Boxing illustrated and Ring magazine ahd having been heralded as the best boxing writer of the 20th century by the Veteran's boxing association and being the author of something lke 70 or 80 books on the sport I would and so would the boxing world say he knows a little more than spit about boxing.
floyd claim he and Shane had no cut-off random blood testing. FALSE! MISLEADING! ABSOLUTE LIE! why did USADA abruptly discontinued the test 18 days before the fight!! Since day 18th up to fight night, there was no further test done by USADA! In other words, USADA granted them18 days cut-off date!! floydiots defense, "they both don't know there gonna be no further test", then Why did floyd remained silent, he did not object, hours before the fight, of the discontinuance of the test? WEIRD!
until the chicken mayweather decides to fight pacquiao his fans has no business trashtalking pacquiao you can keep on with the steroid bullshit all you want but as long as mayweather refuses to fight you better shut the fuck up..you sound like your idol..all talk but wont get in the ring and btw he said he'll beat pacman anytime in an interview then now he's refusing to fight even for a ton of money ..it's like taunting someone and then running away..what a coward.
How is this guy an expert? Is this the SAME EXPERT that said FLOYD WAS GOING TO LOSE TO MARQUEZ? AND once FLOYD beat him HE SAID FLOYD ONLY FOUGHT HIM BECAUSE HE KNEW HE WOULD WIN? hahaha. DONT LISTEN TO THIS FRAUD, HE DOESNT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT BOXING.
sorry to say this but floyd doesn't compare to robinson, not even close. he easily lost to castillo in their first fight. castillo outlanded him in both regular and powershots according to compubox and even lederman and the commentators thought castillo won. very suspicious indeed. hell doesn't even compare to leonard who fought hearns duran and hagler.
I like how Bert use Sugar Ray Robinson record against Mayweathers. Sugar Ray Robinson fought over 100 fights going undefeated, mayweather fought 4 fights (that I would count as contenders) and he thinks he's the best. GTF out of here!!!
pacquiao made demands... 147lb... 1 mill for every pound over 147.... 8 ounce gloves... smaller ring... etc... may agreed to them all... n all floyd wanted was the blood test... is this a dead body talking somehow???
pacquiao made demands... 147lb... 1 mill for every pound over 147.... 8 ounce gloves... smaller ring... etc... may agreed to them all... n all floyd wanted was the blood test
You foolish people, "Bert Surgars Right!' OH WAIT... MANNY FOUGHT. IF I WAS THE HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP AND YOU WERE THE LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMP AND YOU WANTED TO COME UP TO MY WEIGHT CLASS. YOU WOULD FIGHT ON MY TERMS. THAT'S WHY MANNY NEEDS FLOYD, FLOYD DOESN'T NEED MANNY. If it weren't true every other word out of Arum's mouth wouldn't be Floyd this Floyd that. look at the later careers of the greats and see how much time elapsed in between their fights.
@ajohnson545 floyd is a coward ...do your reasearch fan boy cock sucker... manny agreed to testing and know he wants 100 mill all of a sudden ? lmfaoo you fan boys are worse then ps3 fan boys go kill yoself
@ajohnson545 no, at this point floyd needs manny to be still considered great. manny has more titles and beat everyone and more than floyd has. if floyd retires now he will simply be out shinned by manny's achievements and remembered as the fighter who never fought the best.
Floyd would say to him: You dont know boxing, you never laced gloves. Stick with commentating, you dont know boxing. repeating over and over more etc...... lol
Whether fear of losing or fear with Manny's boxing attributes. Floyd the steroid Mayweather should watch cartoon network's - Courage the cowardly dog. Because courage is not the absence of fear.
It was kind of Bert Sugar to give this much time to answer a question he's probably been asked 100 times. Stand up guy. If he says it's Floyd that's good enough of me. The man's forgot more about boxing then I know.
Bert Sugar mention fighters who don't fight are either friends or brothers, but Pacquiao and Mayweather are not. This fight should happen and its leaning on Mayweather now why the fight is not happening. Mayweather "0" is the only ball he has. If he lose it then no more ball wil be left of him.
@JackGarcia1000 yep i think your right hes fuckin withem.i also think why should he fight him without the tests no one cares after if pac tests positive
that bullshi argument. floy as 106 when he was about 15 years old as an amateur but pacquiao on the otherside, he was 106 when he was 18-19 years old ( im juste a boxing fan both are great)
@redikhriz Big difference is Manny was 15 when he turned pro. In the states you must be 18 to box professionally. Please tell me you're not jumping on the "Manny does steroids because Floyd says so" bandwagon. NOBODY, yourself included EVER suspected Manny of steroids until Floyd started that shit. Gaining weight is no big deal. Maintaining one's speed and reflexes with the weight is a feat within itself, but not unheard of. Henry Armstrong ring a bell?
That Negro "Floyd" better not come back from his 2 year vacation. Punk-ass Cherry Picker, woman beater, steroid user, ducker, fake money giver and BEBE kid. He's a lying sack of ball sucking democrat entrails.Stay home Floyd and suck you own balls.
great interview! bert sugar hit the nail on the the head. mayweather ain't scared, why should he be. but he's tryin to get an edge in the fight. he needs to get pacman to accept this drug test because mayweather knows pacquiao thinks the blood test makes him weaker and if pacquiao takes that into the fight and mayweather starts getting on top pacman could give up mentally...another thing, mayweather could well retire rather than take a chance of giving up that 0...
man please---floyd is going to destroy manny and bert knows this---he knows floyd is too too much for manny--this is an easy fight and easy win for floyd--it won't go past 8---mark my words--floyd will dominate the living shit out of manny--
Floyd's actions speaks louder than words! He's making his moves befriending Bob Arum during the Superbowl 45. He swallowed his pride! Why?
Floyd's extravagant lifestyle needs money to sustain, money to pay his lawyers who handle his criminal cases, money to pay IRS, money to pay child support, floyd needs Money. So out of "FINANCIAL NECESSITY" floyd will fight Manny EVEN WITHOUT ANY DEMANDS! He will beg with Bob for the fight! floyd has nowhere to go but to fight, he will swallow his pride!
@JOHN2585 - yeah, floyd's continued verbal attack on Manny, his insistence of blood testing (hiding in it), and his pretense of not watching the fight of Manny, manifest he wants that fight.!!! floyd is too terrified to fight Manny at this point, he's waiting to the time when Manny gets older, that's what he did against Shane.
Records don't define your legacy, who you fight and the fashion in which you win or sometimes even lose does. Floyd doesn't understand that. He's thinks his perfect records makes him the greatest....smh. He's not a student of the game...
@Kingjd87 that's why pacquiao will be remembered as a greater fighter he fought the best and beat them. Even fought feared men and battered them. Margarito being an example.
@Kingjd87 you might wanna do some homework Floyd fought good fighters when he was young and at the time they were the best opponents like manfredy back then was a great up n comer beating everyone, chico corrales33-0 28ko's,hernandez had never lost at feather or lightweight an floyd was 19-20yrs. old when they fought, prime castillo twice and gave up 12lbs both fights, undefeated hatton, chavez, ndou was 28-1,chop chop corley great fighters in the 90's
I don't need a Floyd history lesson I know exactly the caliber of fighters he fought. I've been following his career since the mid - late 90s. His biggest opponent of them all by far is Manny, but he's yet to fight him. He holds onto to his 41-0 record like that makes him the best ever (he even said he was THE BEST EVER) LMAOOO. Floyd Mayweather barley cracks my top 20 let alone my top 10, so how the fuck is he the best ever???
@Kingjd87 He's the best ever to the low IQ boxing fan bc they bought into his sales pitch. I am a huge Floyd fan &I do think he is a GREAT boxer. What those fans fail to realize is he wants to sell tickets by winning them over. But the REAL &true boxing historian fan understands he doesn't even come close. I agree with u, but he doesn't even break into my top 20 of all time. When he can clean a division out &fight 30 times in 1yr like Ray Robinson did then he will be 1 tenth the boxer Ray was.
@upcominboxa330 Oh and the "hater" card is getting really, really old as with racism and sexism card it is an unintelligent response to criticism. Nobody is questioning Floyds boxing pedigree or the quality of the opponents he has faced but I agree with the critics 100% he is scared to lose. In his late teens and early 20s Floyd was hungry and had less to lose but he wants to retire unbeaten and knows that might not happen if he fights Manny. He is destroying the legacy he worked so hard for.
I see all the jevs stick tight together

@Kingjd87: Which fight were you watching? JMM robbed 3 times? Get out of here! First fight, was declared a split draw because one judge erred in scoring the three KD round 10-7 instead of 10-6. MP should have won an MD on that one. Second fight was right on the one KD made the difference. Third fight, PunchStats have MP throwing and landing more shots. MP dictated the fight as the aggressor. It was a legit win for MP. MP will kill FMJ and he knows it. So no fight, FMJ=COWARD WEAKLING!
CanisVulpes12 3 months ago
As great as Pacquiao is, Mayweather is just too fast.
Watch the Mayweather vs Marquez fight.
Amazing speed and ring-smarts.
Pacquiao has more punching power, but Mayweather has everything else.
dinolovessassy 3 months ago

We could all bet that RunninFloyd will wait till Manny becomes President of the Philippines then he will call out Pacquiao to quit politics to meet him in the square ring!
fmgsampaloc1 5 months ago

Bert Sugar=Pacquiao fan
username7212345 5 months ago 14
@username7212345 The weight penalty is for the WEIGH IN. The reason is because Mayweather didn't honor the agreed upon weight for his fight against Marquez. Floyd came in 2 lbs over the weight limit for the weigh in for that fight.
vamoalla9 5 months ago
@username7212345 no he is not wrong. Floyd did not face fraitas nor casamayor back in 2000 and 2001 at 130 lbs( when they were in good shape).Didn't make the weight with marques ( paid 6oo ooo to marquez ) ran more than he fought with De la Hoya, questionable win over Ortis, waited for mosley to be 39 years old. And Pacquiao.....Bert got it wright: a super start , think of Ali, Robinson, Leanard...never avoids anyone!!!
mazmonte77 3 months ago
@username7212345 mayweather camp wanted biger ring so pacman camp came back they want smaller....mayweather wanted 100mil for fight so they brought in the weight pen......mayweathers the one whos come in with all the demands, pacman lets bob arum sort all those out.....i think mayweather is 60/40 fav to win but its close enough that he has tried to get out the fight coz he dodnt wana lose on his record

he wont lose and its bob arum
1.bob building stadiums
2.bob wants the fight on June 9th when may is suppose to be locked up Manny agreed to may 5th, bob didnt. manny can say 1thing, koncz can say one thing but bob arum has the final say, its ironic the conflict with arum and floyd stopped fights fromhappening cause floyd use tobe a top rank fighter and he said all the things about FMW he now says about manny its on video. now he slandered him for leaving

LiLJohn0001 5 months ago
In my opinion, it is both their faults. Manny could just say "Ok, I will accept the olympic style drug testing" and see if Mayweather will still accept the fight. OR Mayweather could accept the 2nd round of negotiations where Pac agreed to take the blood test up up until two weeks of the fight (originally the compromise Mayweather's camp wanted Manny to take in the 1st round of talks that Manny eventually agreed to in the 2nd round of talks)
Both sides are at fault.

So what if Mayweather does lose. All the all time greats have lost before, Ali, Tyson, Fraizer, Leonard, Hearns, etc. Floyd would get more respect if him and Pacquiao just fought.
CenationTroop 6 months ago

@Kingjd87 you might wanna do some homework Floyd fought good fighters when he was young and at the time they were the best opponents like manfredy back then was a great up n comer beating everyone, chico corrales33-0 28ko's,hernandez had never lost at feather or lightweight an floyd was 19-20yrs. old when they fought, prime castillo twice and gave up 12lbs both fights, undefeated hatton, chavez, ndou was 28-1,chop chop corley great fighters in the 90's
upcominboxa330 8 months ago
@upcominboxa330
Kingjd87 8 months ago
@Kingjd87 He's the best ever to the low IQ boxing fan bc they bought into his sales pitch. I am a huge Floyd fan &I do think he is a GREAT boxer. What those fans fail to realize is he wants to sell tickets by winning them over. But the REAL &true boxing historian fan understands he doesn't even come close. I agree with u, but he doesn't even break into my top 20 of all time. When he can clean a division out &fight 30 times in 1yr like Ray Robinson did then he will be 1 tenth the boxer Ray was.
BreuckelensFinest 7 months ago
@upcominboxa330 Oh and the "hater" card is getting really, really old as with racism and sexism card it is an unintelligent response to criticism. Nobody is questioning Floyds boxing pedigree or the quality of the opponents he has faced but I agree with the critics 100% he is scared to lose. In his late teens and early 20s Floyd was hungry and had less to lose but he wants to retire unbeaten and knows that might not happen if he fights Manny. He is destroying the legacy he worked so hard for.
