This is not the original. With the box set I got it doesnt have the theme song just the fiddle or whatever but I must say the beverly hillbillies are hilarious enjoy them! :D
The relationship between the characters are unclear...as a child it didn't make any difference to me and was unnoticed...but can anyone understand the relationship between Jathro and Jed? Jed calls him his nephew, but Jethro’s mother is called cousin ...so and so by Jed. If that's the case, that would make Jathro.... Jed's first cousin and not nephew. Plus, one can't tell the relationship between Jed and granny. Is it his mother, or grandmother on father or mother side? IT'S his Mother in law.
@trwent Is that a shotgun Granny is cradling in her lap? I wonder that the LAPD didn't get a call like "To all units, Converge on Beverly Hills, See the car with elderly lady carrying a firearm, approach with caution, over"
@cha5 that's funny, i never thought of that. but back then it was legal in california to carry a loaded firearm in public, as long as it was unconcealed. for example, members of the Black Panther Party originally carried unconcealed loaded shotguns while protecting their community against police brutality. republican assemblyman don mulford didn't like that, so around 1967 he authored a bill to change the gun law. and the bill passed.
@Elasticphoebe That's interesting, because he had an uncle who played a Barbarian gladiator who had converted to Christianity, and was a guardian to the Deborah Kerr character, on the old 50s version of "Quo Vadis"! His name was Buddy Baer, and he was an uncle to Max Baer! I don't know if you've ever seen that movie, but if you have, it's really good! If you haven't, then look it up on here and see it; Buddy Baer plays the character of "Ursus".
@patriotpizzaman This intro is using a rerecording of "The Ballad of Jed Clampett". I have this episode with this theme on a DVD. The collection is from Diamond Entertainment. The same case is with "The Andy Griffith Show" released by them. They used a new, slower version of "The Fishin' Hole. But, at least they don't replace the themes with unfitting music.

I have never understood how Jethro managed to drive that old truck all the way from Tennessee to Beverly Hills without it breaking down.

Its the original intro theme from the 1st season, not the theme everyone remembers.
porshatom 3 years ago
This is not the original theme. It's just someone who re-did it. It's too slow. Even the guy who says "The Beverly Hillbillies" isn't the original.
travis7310 3 years ago 16
@travis7310 Actually, it is the original. The producers felt it needed "amped" up a bit so they had it redone at a peppier pace.
