They could have at least told us what happened to Dante in the original canon before doing a re-boot. My guess from this new game is that in DMC 2, Dante rode his motorbike into hell and was brutally dismembered by new DmC's Director Tameem Antoniades who then assumed Dante's identity.
I love the originals, but the story and characters weren't exactly memorable. What was memorable was the amazing gameplay, action and locales. Looks like this game is on the right track, to me.

There are all kinds of alternate stories within the Legend of Zelda timeline, but that doesn't fully mean they're just trying to make money off the title. It's still Legend of Zelda, man.

My point is, fans spend a lot of time being pissed off. Ninja Theory looks like they're working very hard on this DMC. And people fairly new to the series (like me, who's also going to check out the Devil May Cry HD Collection) are far more accepting of a change of hair length and color.

They are saying that the reason that Inafune signed on DmC was so he could get Megaman Legends 3 and Universe, two projects he really wanted made, to get the green lightd. Notice when he left both Legends and Universe got canceled and DmC still exist. I think Inafune just signed on to it because he doesn't care about DMC and just wanted his games to be made.

Hm...I guess what bothers me most about this game suddenly appearing is that Capcom left so many unanswered questions from the previous games. I wish they had answered some of the questions like what really happened to Vergil, who the heck is Nero, how did The Order of the Sword get Yamato, etc, etc. Oh well, perhaps one day these questions will be answered but until then I'm going to hope that this game is up to par with the other Devil May Cry games. @hybridcannon Yea it was Inafune's decision, but I saw someone post an interesting theory. They are saying that the reason that Inafune signed on DmC was so he could get Megaman Legends 3 and Universe, two projects he really wanted made, to get the green lightd. Notice when he left both Legends and Universe got canceled and DmC still exist. I think Inafune just signed on to it because he doesn't care about DMC and just wanted his games to be made.

1) It has been confirmed that the Dew DMC game, takes place in an alternate universe. This game has no serious impact on the other DMC games before it.
2) Everyone needs to calm down. Wait until the game to judge it. I had the chance to play the demo, and to be honest I am extremely satisfied with it. Also watch the new game play. Just because Dante has alterations to him, does no mean he sucks. We are playing the game, not dating him. :/

Hm...I guess what bothers me most about this game suddenly appearing is that Capcom left so many unanswered questions from the previous games. I wish they had answered some of the questions like what really happened to Vergil, who the heck is Nero, how did The Order of the Sword get Yamato, etc, etc. Oh well, perhaps one day these questions will be answered but until then I'm going to hope that this game is up to par with the other Devil May Cry games. (Personally...I think it will be. :D )

To everyone bitching about Ninja Theory- you probably don't realise that it was actually Capcom's idea in the first place to change everything and start afresh. NT are only following Capcom's orders. In fact, most of the initial designs for the game were more in par with the normal DMC, but Capcom said no, go the opposite way.

As far as I'm concerned, four things make a DMC game.
1. badass gameplay
2. good plot
3. Dante getting impaled by his own sword
And 4. Someone says "Jackpot!".
