hello, i'm from belgium and if you follow a methadon program you dont get tested, you have to take one test , the first time you start up the program ! you have to test positive to heroine and that's it ! I get my methadone for a week, so i have to go once a week to a metadone centrum, 2 times in a month i have to see my doctor and once a week i have to talk with my conselor .... i can even chose if a go to a pharmacy or if i go to the metadone centre ...
I believe a junky is when you're still out lying, stealing, and all of those things you stopped doing when you're on maintenance. It's noe replacing one drug for another- It's replacing a drug with a medication that helps. People mess up- and that doesn't mean you give up on them. This lady shouldn't have been talked to like this.Methadone is just what she says and less for most. It is a godsend for those actually WILLING to quit opiate addiction and usually use alltogether, but as far getting high on methadone,all you need to take to completely stop any effect of it is oneof any opiate. that's bullshit, what that dude says, I slowly decreased to 10 mgs, and 1 week later quit cold turkey, and I been off for 8 days, so yeh his lil comment about , try not taking it for 1 day or whatever is bullshit, u just gotta decrease to a low level, slowly I might add, I did it 5 mgs about every 2 weeks, sometimes a week.,,,,and before u know last sunday was my last dose at that hell hole, and I'll never go back, I have to much to live for all that money at the clinic for those 4 1/2 years

I'm going thru thr exact same thing, I have nausea and vomiting ALL the time! There are days that I'm ok but usually I get sick about a half hour after drinking my juice. It really sux. Every doctor I see tells me it's the methadone (except the doctors at the methadone clinic of course) I know it does come in pill form here in Canada, they prescribe it for pain. But I know exactly how you feel!
@hailstorm1375 Hey. Since I started methadone I get so constipated (which is something I'm use to from being on heroin) I have to use laxatives. Well I went 4 days and used a laxative. I sweat so bad and my stomache hurt from my bowels being backed up. I had to push even with the laxative, only a little came out. Everytime I felt to puke and finally did everywhere A LOT! It was all chunk no liquid. It's terrible and now I'm freaked out I don't wanna eat, and I'm a daily comfort eater! lol

Methadone is the hardest to kick! The guy sounds like a typical 12 step asshat. I take suboxone and it has been a godsend. Don't let these total abstinence idiots ruin your treatment. You are fortunate you live in Canada where EVERYONE has access to treatment unlike the US.

I tried to kick cold turkey MANY times, I tried taking benzos, and anything else i could get my hands on, Nothing worked, I always went back. Methadone is the ONLY thing that has kept the cravings away.
Have you gotten strung out again yet? ( I hope not!) It sounds to me like you don't believe you are an addict. If you can CONTROL YOURSELF by remembering the pain of kicking cold turkey, maybe you aren't an addict. If that quits working for you, methadone might help.

you're right when I made this video I was still using other drugs. Sure it got me off the opiates, but I was still using coke and anything else I could get my hands on. Now I am compleatly clean, have been for a year. Sure methadone helped me but the last straw was getting charged and losing my job (my rock bottom I guess) Now I can control myself, it's still hard....but I'm doing it!

For those who can't maintain control, methadone is great. However, when you abuse other drugs while on it, methadone becomes just one more drug in the mix. It must be taken correctly.

Good video; taking methadone or suboxone is a good thing and so is getting treatment. I take 8mgs of suboxone daily, my doctor told me that it is like treating a heart condition or any other diesease drug addiction is a diesease and people taking medication to make themselves better and becoming a good member of society is a good thing. to the ignorant - methadone makes most people gain weight. it is not an excuse, it is a fact. would you laugh at a cancer patient as their hair falls out? amazingly, as you wean down the weight falls off every time you blink your eyes. over weight is nothing compared to the pathetic existance of a 4 hour cycle of drug need. something that "real" addicts understand. suboxone isn't a wonder drug either. complaints now = mdones, it does fuck all for most heavy users and its just as "hard" to quit.
I agree, suboxone is not a wonder drug... but it did help me, and im sure it has helped alot of people. The only thing i noticed was the withdrawls were more intense then coming off oxy's, but the time period for the withdrawls was much shorter..
it needs to be a treatment for a year or 2 until the addict is confident enough that they wont go back to the original drug.i wish you the best in your recovery hailstorm-God can help-i know from experience.also,i talked to someone who was on over 100 units a day of methadone.he took over the counter zinc znd magnesium tablets(he doubled the dose on the bottle).he had tried all other detox methods except for ibogaine and he said this alongh with weaning off his dose was successful.

The most common side effects of methadone are: WEIGHT GAIN, constipation, increased intake of fluids, increased frequency of urination, tingling in the hands and feet, increased sweating, skin rash, nausea and delayed ejaculation~ I can see you must suffer from the delayed ejaculation, that must be why ur such an angry fucker.

there is a very bad stigma to being on methadone, thats why a lot of people will never admit to it, so u r very brave to put urself out there. n canada does have real strict regs huh, i'm in mmt in NY n they only take a urine every other week, 1 a month if u r clean. but if u get under 40mgs u can go on bup when canada gets it. meth is just hell to get off, but lots of people do get off of it so good luck to u, n hopefully u can switch to bup if ur having trouble.

hey bro, i been on the done for 3 years. i was on 55mls and reduced to 1ml and then realasped. and now im bak on 15mls. its a long road but we Methdoniens will get there keep ur head up and take ur dose everyday. In Australia, we pay $5 a day. i dont have to do urines unless i want take aways. im getting 5 take aways a week. so its all super.

The truth is, methadone is more addicting than heroine and/or pills.Doctors do lie and say its ok but its really not.Just because a doctor gives this to you doesnt mean its ok.You should have just tapered off the OCs.Now you are in a worse place than you were before wheather you realize it or not.

Have you tried Suboxone? im addicted to opiates, and quit 1 month ago. I have been taking 2 8mg suboxone's every day, and i have no cravings and no withdrawl symptoms.. i plan on weining off them soon, as the doc says the withdrawl symptoms from suboxone are far less then from oxys or percs.. i couldnt take being dope sick so this is the only way i could quit..

Like I said in my other comment to SydLennon I was on Methadone as well and consider it to be an absolutely invaluable tool which helped me to get out of the hell of heroin addiction, but no way should it be used to treat an addiction to Oxycontin.

You're right, I am sorry...the main thing is that Methadone is helping you and improving your quality of life. I was just more than a little surprised that Methadone was prescribed for an Oxycodone addiction.
I am a former Heroin addict who was also on Methadone (clean nearly 5 years now) and I also have some experience with taking Oxycodone. I was speaking from both personal experience and information given to me by Doctors who specialise in Addiction treatment in Australia.

honey those two drugs ...oxys and heroin is pretty much the same and don't say they arent because I have been on both. One is legal script and the other isnt.
I have been on both as well, or at least I have done Oxycodone a number of times and was a Heroin addict for a number of years. Like I said I am talking about my experience in Australia where Oxycodone is only available in a low strength tablet and Heroin, at least when I was using, is generally good quality and strong.
I really don't think this is case of either one of us being right or wrong. I think we are comparing two completely different, but no less valid, individual experiences.

Oxycontin is not even close to being virtually the same thing as Heroin in synthetic form. Just because it is known as "Hillybilly Heroin" does not mean it is even remotely close to Heroin. Heroin is Diacetyl Morphine and it is far far stronger than Oxycontin.
I'm really sorry to say, but whoever told you that Oxycontin was more or less a synthetic version of Heroin either doesn't know what they are talking about or is seriously negligent in their professional care of you. The two aren't even in the same ball park, it's like comparing Pseudoephedrine and Crystal Meth or wine to vodka.
I guess you are already on the Methadone so it can't be helped now, but there is no way in hell you should have been put on Methadone to treat an Oxycontin addiction. Im glad I got on to methadone only because I dont have the chase everyday but methadone is still being hooked on something or should I say addicted because if I dont have it I feel like shit! Yes I have done Oxy's and I've also done Heroin (I was an addict and have been on the Methadone program). I am in Australia and I am actually beginning to wonder if the formulation is different here because Oxy's here are really not that strong compared to something like Morphine or Heroin.
Having said that I do know people who don't use any Narcotic opiods on a regular basis who say that Oxy's blew their head off, but for the average Heroin addict (at least when I was using 5 or so years ago) Oxycodone/contin was considered one of the milder drugs out there.
are you maybe mistaking the spelling? oxycodone is percocet,oxycontin is pure oxycodone with no tylenol. an 80mg oxycontin is equal to 16 percocets. a percocet has 5mg of oxycodone.i could be wrong but i would guess oxycontin is the same the world over.a 40mg oxy is equal to 8 percocets.

Ok well NOW I can see how someone in America could have a habit on Oxycodone bad enough to be put on Methadone. I was thinking of the Oxy's we have here which are 5 mg strength, you'd have to be chomping your way through a couple of packs a day to get a heavy addiction and
because Heroin is available and fairly good quality you just wouldn't bother. Obviously it's a completely different story with 40 mgs strength tablets being available, I could definitely see how someone could get a nasty arse habit being prescribed those.

As I explained elsewhere, Oxycodone in South Australia at least is only available in 5 mg strengths and comparing that to the Heroin that is available here (strong China White rock type shit) a few 5 mgs tabs of Oxycodone is nothing.
Oxycodone is also derived from Codeine so technically it is not as strong as Morphine or Heroin. Oxycodone, compared with Morphine however, does cross the blood brain barrier easier and is therefore considered to be a more effective pain reliever in many cases and does give a person the subjective experience that they are getting more high than with other narcotics.
Heroin is far stronger a narcotic than Oxycodone and also crosses the blood brain barrier very easily and, in my direct experience with both drugs, does produce a far stronger high as well.
And just to clarify my information comes not only from direct experience with both drugs but also from what I have been told by several Doctors, some of whom specialise in Addiction medicine. So if I am misinformed then they must be as well.

The reason I ask is because I have done Heroin, Morphine (continuous release and injectable vials), Pethidine, Fentanyl and Oxycodone and out of all of those my personal experience was the mildest in terms of effect at least. But like I have said several times already, the formulation may be different in Australia.

No its not an opiate its an opioid which is a synthetic. The clinic tried to compare methadone to Insulin which is awfull. Methadone is ok till you come off of it. The worst of it comes when you get down to 10mg. No agony is worse than methadone withdrawal. Bullshit, I was on the Methadone program for 2 years and tapered off it just fine. Sure it was a bit uncomfortable but nothing i couldn't handle and I've been off it now for almost 5 years.
Sorry that was directed to SydLennon 79. I was on Methadone to treat Heroin addiction. I started on a baseline of 20 mgs then increased up to 60 mgs and gradually tapered off over 2 years. This stuff saved my life and got me clean off the gear :)

This seems to be a very honest diary of a persons struggle with opiate addiction; it would perhaps be helpful if those without constructive comments refrain from posting.
I'm down to 50 mls a day, but I was as high as 90 mls a day. When you first start expect to sleep alot! They will most likeley start you at a low dose and slowly raise it, but it will still make you tired as hell for the first little bit. And after a yr I started gaining weight, some ppl experience dry mouth from it too.
If you come down no faster than 2.5mls every three weeks you'll be fine. Your body adapts and the only probs you'll have are laying in bed awake at night once under about 10ml. After that ask to slow down about 2.5ml per month.

hello, i'm from belgium and if you follow a methadon program you dont get tested, you have to take one test , the first time you start up the program ! you have to test positive to heroine and that's it ! I get my methadone for a week, so i have to go once a week to a metadone centrum, 2 times in a month i have to see my doctor and once a week i have to talk with my conselor .... i can even chose if a go to a pharmacy or if i go to the metadone centre ...

I believe a junky is when you're still out lying, stealing, and all of those things you stopped doing when you're on maintenance. It's noe replacing one drug for another- It's replacing a drug with a medication that helps. People mess up- and that doesn't mean you give up on them. This lady shouldn't have been talked to like this.Methadone is just what she says and less for most. It is a godsend for those actually WILLING to quit opiate addiction and usually use alltogether, but as far getting high on methadone,all you need to take to completely stop any effect of it is oneof any opiate. that's bullshit, what that dude says, I slowly decreased to 10 mgs, and 1 week later quit cold turkey, and I been off for 8 days, so yeh his lil comment about , try not taking it for 1 day or whatever is bullshit, u just gotta decrease to a low level, slowly I might add, I did it 5 mgs about every 2 weeks, sometimes a week.,,,,and before u know last sunday was my last dose at that hell hole, and I'll never go back, I have to much to live for all that money at the clinic for those 4 1/2 years

I'm going thru thr exact same thing, I have nausea and vomiting ALL the time! There are days that I'm ok but usually I get sick about a half hour after drinking my juice. It really sux. Every doctor I see tells me it's the methadone (except the doctors at the methadone clinic of course) I know it does come in pill form here in Canada, they prescribe it for pain. But I know exactly how you feel!

@hailstorm1375 Hey. Since I started methadone I get so constipated (which is something I'm use to from being on heroin) I have to use laxatives. Well I went 4 days and used a laxative. I sweat so bad and my stomache hurt from my bowels being backed up. I had to push even with the laxative, only a little came out. Everytime I felt to puke and finally did everywhere A LOT! It was all chunk no liquid. It's terrible and now I'm freaked out I don't wanna eat, and I'm a daily comfort eater! lol

Kicking cold turkey was the worst experience in my entire life, but ya know, I never forgot what the pain was like and did not want to relive that shit again. you're right when I made this video I was still using other drugs. Sure it got me off the opiates, but I was still using coke and anything else I could get my hands on. Now I am compleatly clean, have been for a year. Sure methadone helped me but the last straw was getting charged and losing my job (my rock bottom I guess) Now I can control myself, it's still hard....but I'm doing it!

it needs to be a treatment for a year or 2 until the addict is confident enough that they wont go back to the original drug.i wish you the best in your recovery hailstorm-God can help-i know from experience.also,i talked to someone who was on over 100 units a day of methadone.he took over the counter zinc znd magnesium tablets(he doubled the dose on the bottle).he had tried all other detox methods except for ibogaine and he said this alongh with weaning off his dose was successful.

there is a very bad stigma to being on methadone, thats why a lot of people will never admit to it, so u r very brave to put urself out there. n canada does have real strict regs huh, i'm in mmt in NY n they only take a urine every other week, 1 a month if u r clean. but if u get under 40mgs u can go on bup when canada gets it. meth is just hell to get off, but lots of people do get off of it so good luck to u, n hopefully u can switch to bup if ur having trouble.

I have been taking 2 8mg suboxone's every day, and i have no cravings and no withdrawl symptoms.. i plan on weining off them soon, as the doc says the withdrawl symptoms from suboxone are far less then from oxys or percs.. i couldnt take being dope sick so this is the only way i could quit..

Like I said in my other comment to SydLennon I was on Methadone as well and consider it to be an absolutely invaluable tool which helped me to get out of the hell of heroin addiction, but no way should it be used to treat an addiction to Oxycontin.

Thanx for the diagnosis, but oxys were just the tip of iceberg for me, after becoming addicted ANY opiate was good, b/c it kept me from getting sick. I have been on both as well, or at least I have done Oxycodone a number of times and was a Heroin addict for a number of years. Like I said I am talking about my experience in Australia where Oxycodone is only available in a low strength tablet and Heroin, at least when I was using, is generally good quality and strong.

Oxycontin is not even close to being virtually the same thing as Heroin in synthetic form. Just because it is known as "Hillybilly Heroin" does not mean it is even remotely close to Heroin. Heroin is Diacetyl Morphine and it is far far stronger than Oxycontin.

I was doing pain pills for about 8yrs and then started doing Oxy's and heroin for about 1 year thank god! Im glad I got on to methadone only because I dont have the chase everyday but methadone is still being hooked on something or should I say addicted because if I dont have it I feel like shit! Yes I have done Oxy's and I've also done Heroin (I was an addict and have been on the Methadone program). I am in Australia and I am actually beginning to wonder if the formulation is different here because Oxy's here are really not that strong compared to something like Morphine or Heroin.

Having said that I do know people who don't use any Narcotic opiods on a regular basis who say that Oxy's blew their head off, but for the average Heroin addict (at least when I was using 5 or so years ago) Oxycodone/contin was considered one of the milder drugs out there.

are you maybe mistaking the spelling? oxycodone is percocet,oxycontin is pure oxycodone with no tylenol. an 80mg oxycontin is equal to 16 percocets. a percocet has 5mg of oxycodone.i could be wrong but i would guess oxycontin is the same the world over.a 40mg oxy is equal to 8 percocets.

As I explained elsewhere, Oxycodone in South Australia at least is only available in 5 mg strengths and comparing that to the Heroin that is available here (strong China White rock type shit) a few 5 mgs tabs of Oxycodone is nothing.

Oxycodone is also derived from Codeine so technically it is not as strong as Morphine or Heroin. Oxycodone, compared with Morphine however, does cross the blood brain barrier easier and is therefore considered to be a more effective pain reliever in many cases and does give a person the subjective experience that they are getting more high than with other narcotics.

The reason I ask is because I have done Heroin, Morphine (continuous release and injectable vials), Pethidine, Fentanyl and Oxycodone and out of all of those my personal experience was the mildest in terms of effect at least. No its not an opiate its an opioid which is a synthetic. The clinic tried to compare methadone to Insulin which is awfull. Methadone is ok till you come off of it. The worst of it comes when you get down to 10mg. No agony is worse than methadone withdrawal. Bullshit, I was on the Methadone program for 2 years and tapered off it just fine. Sure it was a bit uncomfortable but nothing i couldn't handle and I've been off it now for almost 5 years.

Sorry that was directed to SydLennon 79. I was on Methadone to treat Heroin addiction. I started on a baseline of 20 mgs then increased up to 60 mgs and gradually tapered off over 2 years. This stuff saved my life and got me clean off the gear :)

I just recently gave up trying to get involved with a recovering opiate user. The emotional ups and down were too much to handle. The fact she treated me like shit was part of it too. I have alot respect for her, she's getting her life in order. Focusing on raising her 3 year old daughter. She just doesn't treat people that she claims to care about very well. I am currently 32 weeks pregnant I had back surgery 3 months prior to me getting pregnant.I have been taking 5mg,lorotab & 10 mg,oxycontin twice daily. The doctors are concerned about my baby having withdrwl symptoms at delivery so they want to place me on methadone. I was just wanting to know what you think .I am scheduled to see a specialist but it wont be for a few more weeks and they want to start the new drug asap.

Here's the thing if you keep taking the pills thu your pregnancy when the baby is born he/She will go thru withdrawl. with the methadone when the baby is born they can wean the baby off, like they do patients like me.

I'm down to 50 mls a day, but I was as high as 90 mls a day. When you first start expect to sleep alot! They will most likeley start you at a low dose and slowly raise it, but it will still make you tired as hell for the first little bit. And after a yr I started gaining weight, some ppl experience dry mouth from it too.

If you come down no faster than 2.5mls every three weeks you'll be fine. Your body adapts and the only probs you'll have are laying in bed awake at night once under about 10ml. After that ask to slow down about 2.5ml per month.
