@cfol11 I think the song was more about his struggle with cough syrup and the first verse was just a fictions story of someone who became addicted to syrup. I don't know this to be true, but its what i think. Also, in the song he says "I've seen Oxycontin take 3 lives" so I think he would have stressed the beginning part to be true if it were. When I heard him perform live last spring, when the oxy line came around he said 4 instead of 3, and everyone kinda was shocked. Amazing song.
