  • Have you guys seen warren mcdonalds story on national geo?

He's a double amputee above the knee with a crazy story

  • I am also a RBK amputee, I have never had lower back trouble or any knee or hip pain after a full day even after playing 36 holes of golf in 1 day the only thing I get is sour on my stump. But recently I have been doing RPM(cycling) at the gym and Body pump which includes Squats and Lunges and have been told by the gym instructor that my hips are not level when doing these things I asked my limb centre and they say it is fine and its one of those things being an amputee. Any1 got any thoughts?

  • Hey Konartis8108

Pay attention to the type of footware you have on. Heel hight can make a big difference ih hip height alignment.

There is room for adjustment in the legs...prior to them being finished off...your prosthesis..can make adjustments...also some adjustments can be made in certain types of feet...what model of foot do you use?

    I golf also...but am not very good..lol

    Frosty

  • I have 3 different Legs 1 for swimming, then one for skating at a different angle then the one I use every day which has a alpha lockin liner and some kind of sport foot not sure what it is called but when I put my heal down it loads the spring and when I roll onto the toe it drives forward I really like it. I find the alpha liner great but gets slippy when I do lots of running or exercise. I may be getting a new foot soon. Is urs truestride? you run well.how far can you run?

  • Hey Konartis8108

My foot is called" perfect Stride x3" it is made by " bioquest".

I have no idea how far I can run, but I do not run for distance , am not really into running. I run for sports like softball...or soccer...I would have to work at it for a

while to build up my wind if I wanted to run for distance. You said you had a leg for skating at a different angle. Do you ice skate? or inline skate? and the different angle is it to have you knee forward a bit?

    Talk to you later

  • Football cool! do you kick with your leg? I think I would have been right footed so I do kick with that leg but find the alpha liner slips so cant play football for long! I am getting a new foot soon like the perfect Stride but on the NHS so will have to wait and see what its like. I do both Ice and Roller and used to play hockey on both also, ya the angle is just so my knee is forward and on the inside edge for ice skating hopefully my new leg will mean I can just have 1 leg for everything!

  • Yes it is to get my knee further forward and backwards on some edges and on the ice so the foot can move well onto the edges, It works great. I inline skate and Ice skate, have always been good at inlining skating with any foot but this new foot has helped on the ice. going for my first 10k run this Sunday so fingers crossed,I also just run for football or sport generally, My foot is made by endolite .co .uk and is called echelon under the products section(wouldn't be good for running but walkin

  • Hi, I`m a (rbk) amputee myself, and I`d like to ask you a cuple of questions, does your knee, hips and back hurds at the end of the day wearing your prosthetic leg? and do you have any skin problems in your stump for wearing a prosthetic leg?

  • Hi dragonne

The foot I am using is called a "perfect stride x3"

I do not normaly have pain in my knee , hips or back

I do get sores some times on my stump, where the skin will hurt. This usually happens when my socket is not fitting properly , and its time for a new one

  • sorry buddy but you do have an amputated limb so if your a very active person and i mean very active then you will have pain in the knee and back and there is nothing you can do about it, your an amputee and thats what you have to deal with me im a lbk and i have one of the most sophisticated legs out there and i still have pain, but i can do some crazy shit that two legged ppl can't even do like work construction for 10 hrs a day lifting 150 lbs pipe and running for long distances.

  • @secretsquirrell13 So you still encounter pain with a below the knee amputation ? I lost half of my right foot & have pain pretty much everyday..About to have a rbk just afraid of what pain lies ahead..

  • hi, I`m a (rbk) myself, and I`d like to ask u what kind of foot are u wearing?
