Yeah, Seikaly was dope! A 7-foot post-up demon who would have made GS a title contender had Webber stayed. All C-Webb had to do was come back and that team (Mully, Timbug, Latrell Sprewell, Seikaly) would've given Houston, the champ that year, realistically, a nightmare in defending their crown. My heart still aches.
I do. Riley was looking for a shooting guard who could eventually defend effectively against Michael Jordan and Danilovic, especially during his NBA tenure, was decidedly not that. The plan for the Heat in '96 was to build contender in the swiftest amount of time so nurturing a potential pure shooter but spotty defender was not on the list, sad to say.
@pistolpat11569 Personally, I like the pre-Riley heat (with Seikaly, G-Money, Bimbo, Minor, Salley, Willis, and Geiger) better than Riley's teams. I think at the pre- Riley teams stayed together (albeit with good coaching) and one or two more players, they would've been a title contender!!!
Hope u Sasha Danilovic fans enjoy this. He was terribly under-used in Miami. Had Riley had patience with him, he would have been the deadly spot up shooter who would've complimented dan majerle and Alonzo Mourning (if he'd learned to pass by then) and led to deeper play-off runs (even championships?!) before 2006 ... the Peja Stojakovic before Peja Stojakovic... Ah, what might have been... Get glimpses of what the Heat eventually missed... and it's a shame he retired too early.

That '84-'85 GS team started the year 7-0 without Webber to prove my point.

@pistolpat11569 Amen. I couldn't understand why Riley traded him.
