  • Listen to that joyous organ 32' Reed moment at 1:18 - 1:25

  • Charity? Tradition?

    BULLSHIT

  • Comment removed

  • Hubert was bang on with this one!

  • this guy gets saluted just for being born. What a crock.

  • @jjbb81 yeah, he should be saluted for inheriting money and being a nobody like the Hilton sisters

  • What did prince harry say?

  • I wonder what was Prince Andrew thinking actually?

  • And I will say this: Hwu Edwards from Cymru Wales is a grand sucessor to Tom Fleming. He shares what the Scotsman had: a grand ability to tell a story with few words, yet make it meaningful. Nobody can ever replace Tom, but Hwu makes him and his predecessor, that great commentator Richard Dimbleby(the father of David Dimbleby), proud indeed. That's why I watched BBC America's broadcast of the service itself.

  • Everything else is perfect but the royals... (If not including Queen and her husband) They really can´t be have like royals... All look so common

  • I'm American and I listen to the Royal Wedding soundtrack all the time, and it's been almost 9 months since it happened! I got up at 5AM that day and enjoyed everything so much. I definitely cried when William saw Catherine...such a special moment. I totally understand the amount of pride you guys from the UK have about all of this. What a special thing for the whole world to come together to celebrate and enjoy this occasion.

  • William and Harry - gentle stroll in, sharing a bit of banter. Love it.

  • So lucky that the 29th of April is a holiday there!

  • What an extraordinary wedding.

  • @TheAnglopride Thats the whole point. Everyone including the Monarch gives way & respects to somebody "known only unto God" who layed down their live during the carnage of 1914- 1918.

  • @TheAnglopride I can only assume you made this comment in a pathetic attempt at humour or just to court controversy. If this was a genuine question you are ignorant beyond belief.

  • really love that transition from 3:22 to 3:51; the singing and orchestra are evocative and it's beautifully performed.

  • I replayed this video 40 times just for the music alone.... so awesome

  • After the Royal Wedding comes the Royal Screwing.

  • I was truly staggered by how much interest there was in this ceremony across the whole wide world. Me being a Brit I just love all this pageantry as it sort of reflects my patriotic feelings. All the more thrilling to find that it is one of our top exports. Patriotism is positive. Nationalism is negative. We are told that the royals cost us 60p a year. I doubt that, but I would be happy to pay £60 a year for all our traditional spectacular royal ceremonials.

  • SOMPTUEUX, MAGNIFIQUE , quelle belle musique ......!

  • btw: "I was glad" is also used for the souvereign's arrival at the coronation.

  • Being a former subject of a former British Colony.... I just can't help liking all this... damn...why should Hong Kong be returned to China ?

  • You can tell we had an empire when those dress uniforms were designed.

  • Wonderful! It may be a bit harsh but someone (anyone know who?) said 'The Church of England in full ceremonial fig makes the Vaticans best efforts look like a football riot'

  • @maxboii1 i agree. if theres anything the Church of England does best (aside from putting it's worshippers to sleep at regular services) it is taking it's aristocratic roots and rubbing it in everyones faces heh

  • The one and only false note in an otherwise perfect ceremony and liturgy was the entrance of the princes. Looked like two young jambrone capos from the New Jersey mob sauntering in saying "Yo,weese here". Couldn't they have followed the priest with a little more military precision? They are supposed to be active duty soldiers.

  • @brassspitoon Er it's a wedding not a military tatoo.Besides one doesn't goosestep in the house of god!!

  • @brassspitoon I here what you say but it is a British military tradition that the rules change for very senior officers in all three services. No more standing to attention at parades. No more precise service drills and salutes, and as for your service dress - leave that to your servant to sort out. For an example check out Monty from WW2 news clips.

  • The hornbeams and London plane trees, so quintessentially British. I just wanted to hear this piece of music again, the soaring notes at 2.40 and then a 4.40 and the beautiful voices. It really was a truly magnificent piece of Britain. We have our problems and they are myriad, but this just make the heart swell with overwhelming pride !

  • No other country could do something this classy. No other country comes close.

  • @jhtbailey1 There is simply no argument to that statement.

  • for ages i was sayinf cant wait for this wedding to be over i was fed up of hearing about it! then the day came i could not take my eyes off the tele she looked so beautiful and you could tell it was true love 100% a true fairytale that day made me so proud to be british!!

  • To the few (and i know its only a few) Americans who love to insult the British and our glorious monarchy, i ask this, when have 2 BILLION people watched a President be inorrgurated, the awnser NEVER!

  • Msonic checkered floor.

    Illuminati

  • @G0FlyAKite1

I have a checkered floor in my kitchen, last time I looked I wasn't a member of the Illuminati.

  • @IDontLiveTodayJH

You are, you just don't know it. lol..

  • One day that the BBC really did give us good value for money with the license fee! The first Royal Wedding I've seen, and I loved it!

  • I actually prefer the performance at the Golden Jubilee

  • 1:18 That 32' Reed needs to be used more

  • @morphthing1 the whole thing needs to be used more! more recordings need to come out of here! btw, love your uploadings, really helping me as a chorister :)

  • She's very very clever. AH, william bought it. I think Harry will choose someone he actually loves; some girl that doesn't feign her smile.

  • @TheCoastguard01. Associated with it. God Bless the British Isles, its monarchy, & its people!!!

  • @TheCoastguard01. You are so right! I, too was born in Scotland & lived there until immigrating to Canada (a wonderful country, btw) when I was almost 14. Standard of living in Canada is extremely high, but for actual history & education, you can't beat the UK. Canada barely has any history, while Scotland & the rest of GB is immersed in it! Although I'm now in my 40's & consider myself a Canadian now (& proud of that fact), I'll always be proud to be British, & everything that is associat

  • we may be a crummy little set of islands in the north sea but to me, being British ( born in Scotland, parents from Northern Ireland) is such a consumate priveledge and honour. We are undoubtedly ( despite our myriad flaws and faults) quite simply the greatest country on earth, literature, music, science, education, charity, tradition, tolerance. No other country has all that and more. This piece of music makes my heart swell.

  • @TheCoastguard01 i could not agree more well said

  • @TheCoastguard01

    No truer words were written.

  • i love how the saudi king was there, just makes me lol

  • The best part was were they consummated their relationship in Westminster Abbey.

  • 32"!!

  • A good rendition, but way too much orchestra music. you could hardly hear the organ. If it had been just the organ, it would have been absolutely perfect. Still, a wonderful way for our nation. God save the Queen!

  • Great! Does anybody know, if the arrangement for orchestra is printed and/or available? Thanks!

  • Great! Does anybody know, if the arrangement for orchestra is printed and/or available? Thanks!

  • Kate looked stunning

  • :D wow

studying this for A-level music, but now all I can think about is weddings...

  • @palus666 Parry did not actually write the introduction to this piece. It was originally quite different. It was rewritten several years later.

  • @Buggaton It was originally written by Parry for Edward VII Coronation, Parry re-wrote the introduction for George V as it was too quiet.

  • Absolutely love this anthem! Singing it soon:)

  • They should had have the Star wars theme song played for the whole wedding and had the groom walk down the aisle with the Imperial March

  • @nathan33445

If this wedding had taken place in Los Angeles instead of London then that's probably what would have happened.

  • @nathan33445 Er... knave. The aisles are the bits either side of the seats. The bit people walk down the middle is called the knave...

  • @Buggaton go to google and type "bride walking down the" and it will have like 3 suggestions one saying aisle, one for the song and something else

  • I still get butterflies watching this!

  • The worst part of this video is 6:08 !! ;)

  • oh and lmfao @ the Beckhams, all the way back in the cheap seats

  • @rheaprinzmetal where did you see them??

  • @CarolineLovesHugs18 aw i am sorry youtube sux won't let me play the video "in my country" i can't remember what bit...

  • EEEK 5:56 i'm gonna fuckin' puke lol

  • That camera shot from above was amazing!

  • this is epic...obviously, my wedding will be exactly the same

  • So proud to be British. Everything was perfection. We always expect the BBC camera work to be outstanding, on these sort of occassions. This was indeed a triumph for them. The choir well what can you say ? Except "out of this world".

  • This song and "Blest Pair of Sirens" have made fall in love with English choral music!!! I wonder how much it would cost to have an English choir at my wedding?

  • One person wasn't glad

  • This music suit the occasion greatly.

  • Can only imagine the elation the Royal couple and family must have felt hearing and processing to what is to my knowledge the finest music in the entire world!!

  • Bring tear to a glass eye

  • Fantastic camera work from the ceiling at the end. Has anyone noticed that this deliberately gives the illusion of the Union Flag just before it pans to Will at Kate at 6:00. Look at the lines of the pillars (in line with the St Andrews saltire) and transept axis and nave axis (in line with St George's cross)! Very subtle ... massive attention to detail.

  • This anthem has been sung at every coronation since 1902, and for good reason! Parry was a master at crafting perfectly beautiful, majestic and royal music.

  • It is not obligatory to bow or curtsy to the Monarch or to any member of the Royal Family even for a British citizen, although it is considered etiquette to do so.

  • did prince William say "you're beautiful" at 5:12? :)

  • @minhtrangnguyen94 Apparently he did say that she looked beautiful and Prince Harry said at, 4:17, 'wait till to you see what's coming'......I got the info from a newspaper (and as we know they are always right lol) they had used a lip reader to get this info. Sorry to all if it is wrong, as they say 'don't shoot the messenger'

  • @alfiesgirluk thank you for answering

  • Comment removed

  • @alfiesgirluk haha that's nice. congratulations to your cousin!

  • Amazing shot at 5:39

  • i cant believe Kate's dad didn't break down and cry in the middle of that

  • Everyone is smiling when William walks past except for Prince Andrew. Perhaps revenge because William was bored at his wedding?

  • @wl03bu Yes I noticed that Prince Andrew looked less than comfortable at the occasion...............perhaps he was missing Sarah

  • I agree there were nods to Diana in the service, but that was not one of them. Blame the Evening Standard for that bit of dodgy information.

  • @jetster2009 Yes, and I am sure William and Harry would have remembered her. This event made me feel so proud to be British - all that we do well was on display here, majesty, pop and splendour. Romance linked the whole occasion was perfect from beginning to end. The Queen can move forward to her Diamond Jubliee next year after 60 hard years of dedication and duty, knowing the future of the monarchy will be in safe hands, when eventually William is crowned. UK Manchester

  • @LUJANESE, the seat was left there for Prince Harry after finishing his duties at the altar. Although I agree that there are things in the ceremony that were there to honour Diana, the seat is for Harry. The Royal Family are all seated according to their rank: starting with the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh as her consort, and then Prince Charles and his consort, then Harry, being next in line after them without William there, and then Prince Andrew and his daughters and so on.

  • I am shivering. The music is so powerful at the end, and that ceiling shot is spectacular! 1 person must have accidentally hit the dislike button!

  • what exquisite music and so appropriate for the occasion

  • "The stuff of which fairy-tales are made." <3 <3 <3

  • I did of course notice that she curtsied coming back. As you say, must be protocol. Certainly she never seemed to put a foot wrong at any other time,, so it must not have been required.

  • Notice the symbolic empty seat on the 1st row by the Royal Family? It's reserved for his mom, Princess Diana. The ceremony was full of little hidden insider things apparently down to the music they chose. This was just one of those. Really touching!

  • @LUJANENSE no I don't think so!! Harry sits there after finishing his best man duties. Not really something the royal family would do. My guess is that you are one of our American cousins! :)

  • @jetster2009

well i read that in the evening standard... cousin, twice removed.

  • Wonderful, made me even more proud to be British than I normally am!

  • I was Glad- glad that this amazing day was delivered to our nation :-)

  • Amazing coverage from the BBC. Final shot is just stunning.

  • Only British Royalty can pull this off. My small Anglican Church in a town in Elora has a choir that sings so beautifully. They were up for an Emmy last year. They sing in the same tradition as the high church in England.

  • @timothyj1966. Or the Scottish, Welsh, or N. Irish. They are ALL British!!!

  • When William first catches sight of Catherine in that wedding dress he looks like the cat that's got the cream!

  • This piece - the organ, the orchestra the choir - trumpets... the Abbey, the trees, Kathryn - only the British could ever pull this off - MAGNIFICENT! GLORIOUS!

  • SEMOGA TUHAN MEMBERKTI PERNIKAHAN KALIAN BERDUA KATE DAN WILIAM SETIA SELAMANYA, SATU DAN TAK TERCERAIKAN!

  • I think every choirboy in the United States wished they could sing this in a place like Westminster. As an old choirboy who has sung this in numerous Episcopal cathedrals in the United States, I would have killed to be able to sing it for a joyous occasion such as this. Bravo!

  • I wasn't born in the UK but you've got to hand it to the Brits. They sure know how to put on a show!

  • @76juno

"i was glad" is also the intro for the new souvereign at his/her coronation. Dont miss THAT show.

    Splendor awaits !! :)

  • @76juno

That's all they know how to do & that's all they are doing here. A show.

  • @G0FlyAKite1

Putting on a show is a major part of their function. I'm sure they would regard your comment as a compliment.

  • @76juno

It's a show. And that is all. Nothing more.

  • @G0FlyAKite1 Well if it is a show it makes every other show on earth look pathetic by comparison!

  • @TheVaughan5

So what! hahaha. All shows are already pathetic. Big accomplishment. NOT. Wow, rich people getting married, big deal. This William guy is gonna be the leader of the NWO in 3 years. And you will love it because it's "Prince William". Your freedoms will be gone, but at least "Prince William" is the leader. Right? Fucking SHEEP!

  • @G0FlyAKite1 Sad character. You must be an underachiever lol.

  • @G0FlyAKite1 says the sheep that is following stupid theories because he has nothing better to do. I have more freedom than any anarchist or communist will ever have. Under the Windsors (or Saxe-Coburg Gotha' if you want) we are free.

  • Amazing!

  • OMG, this was so beautiful! And so perfectly timed--look closely @5:02: William turns and sees her for the first time right as the chorus crescendos! God, I wish that had been a closeup shot! I was so moved by this.

  • Simply stunning....and from 5:10 completely amazing!

I was glad when they said unto me: We will go into the house of the Lord.

Our feet shall stand at thy gates: O Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is builded as a city: that is at unity in itself.

O pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Peace be within thy walls: and plenteousness within thy palaces

  • I first sang this in the Abbey in 1999 and it made my hairs stand on end. Today, it still does! Perfect, with the climax as Kate reached William, utterly perfect.

  • Another hit from Parry and fabulous arrangement - Anglicans do church better than anyone

  • @SchismLou you are so right... elegance... sheer beauty ... only the British could pull this off perfectly!

  • I just want to see Harry Hewitt :)

  • wow what a stunning piece of music. i want it at my wedding, but probably wouldn't be quite the same without the fanfare and world class choir! Kate has to be the most gorgeous person ever <3 such an amazing couple

  • ...and goosebumps from 5.36 onwards. Wowser.

  • @mrsspanner14 absolute goosebumps...agreed ... only the English could pull this off!

  • @timothyj1966 ....or the Welsh! ;-)

  • Beautiful. This was my favourite piece and had me tearing up. I love Harry's cheeky smile at 4:18 as well !

  • Lovely music, can't help but wonder why Catherine Middleton did not curtsey to the queen as she passed on her way to the altar? Remembering other royal weddings, in Sweden last year, in Denmark 2004, where the brides did just that.

  • @Bruniebear She did it on the way out

  • @Bruniebear the English do it after they are officially married...signed...sealed ..than delivered into the Family - or the Firm as they call it ... but rather stunning piece of music as only they could pull off!

  • @Bruniebear It wasn't required by protocol evidently, but she does along with Will on their way out.

  • @LUJANENSE They are not required to bow or curtsy on arrival but once she was married they are both required to bow & courtsy to the monarch as a sign of respect and protocol. It is also the final endorsement by the monarch on their marriage.

  • @Bruniebear She is not required to curtsy on the arrival, they only bow & curtsy once they are married as it protocol to do so to the reigning monarch.

  • BBC did a great job

  • "The Anglican choral tradition is the finest in the world; its anthems perfectly capture the sentimental grandeur of great state occasions. Listen to the way the fanfare from Parry’s I Was Glad melted into Edwardian gracefulness as Kate Middleton walked down the nave."

    Quite!

  • This is a standard is many Episcopal churches in the United States, minus the orchestra and trumpets. The organ version is pretty thrilling, too.

  • I've lost count of the number of times I've heard this: but it never fails to thrill, and this must be one of the finest performances I've heard.

  • Absolutely outstanding. X

  • so grand, so epic, so BRITISH...... on the 29th of April 2011 the eyes of the world watched as Blighty put on the show of the decade! Wonderful. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN!!!!!!

  • WEDDING ? WHAT WEDDING ? IT WAS ALL MADE TINY AND TRIVIAL BY DISCOVERING PARRY AND THIS STAGGERING PIECE OF WORK - I CAN'T TELL YOU ALL HOW THIS SHORT PIECE UNDER 10 MINUTES HAS AFFECTED ME SO POWERFULLY - FROM THE TRUMPET FANFARE AT THE BEGINNING TO THE GREAT CYMBAL CRASH AT THE END IN UNISON WITH THE OVERHEAD CEILING SHOT - I AM STUNNED TO SAY THE LEAST - I HAVE LISTENED TO IT MORE THAN 100 TIMES IN THE LAST 24 HOURS IN THE HEADPHONES AND HD BIG SCREEN - BEST CHOIR I'VE EVER HEARD - GOD'SMUSIC

  • This is my favourite part of the whole wedding. Such an amazing piece of music which gives such a sense of occasion. Wonderful!

  • Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful.

  • Prince Will and Princess kate the most beautiful couple!

    Diana would be so proud!

  • I keep repeating it.

Perfect. Beautiful. Sublime. Pure elegace and grandure at the same time. Epic.

  • What a rare treat to hear this performed in perfect surroundings! Lifted my heart .

  • SO BEAUTIFUL!!!

  • What sopehelet - absolutely right. The whole thing was perfection. Final ceiling shot was a masterpiece. Like 35gbear, tears welled up in my eyes.

  • Thank you for uploading! :)

  • I was in tears as soon as the choir started singing.

  • Gorgeous, and just right for this occasion, naturally! Sung stunningly well, and this is just the kind of place for that piece, too. (What amazing camera work, by the way. The final view from the ceiling is thrilling.)

  • @sophelet BBC HD May 28th at 1:25am "A Film About Hubert Parry by Hrh the Prince of Wales"

  • beautiful piece made a grown man cry!

  • it was so epically beautiful that I cried tears. Well the organ, symphony, and choir that is.... :D
