the money and the corporations have stolen the game.. theres no more purity no more lyrics.. and these rappers are keeping our black youth down cause they are our role models.. how could someone live with that on their conscious
very good video. i get upset when i hear people talking nonsense about how lil wayne is the best rapper alive. turn off the radio and bump some real knowledgeable hip-hop. Binary starr, Talib Kweli, Atmosphere, the list goes on!! Respect to all the hip hop heads
ALL of them KNOW what they're doin, they're just cowards, because as an MC, to be able to deliver phonics as we do, it is a verbal discipline in linguistics. We hold a RESPONSIBILITY to the listeners GIVEN attention, no less responsibility of a teacher, or preacher. Or a chef, for that matter who're taught to feed you. If you had a world renown restaurant, would you poison the beef stew? They've taken the mind thought of europeans, and have change violence into entertainment. House niggaz.
THANKYOU!!!! You had me rolling with your expression when you said "Wayne's not saying anything" My thoughts exactly. There is a time where he did rap about something, at that point it was more about the wordplay, and less about content. But what does world play matter if your not saying anything.
If you listen to Jeezy it shouldn't be for lyrics lol.
Anyways I agree with your whole argument diversity is needed.
imho, just because lil wayne rhymes his words and uses metaphors in his songs doesn't justify him being a great emcee. i agree with you - at the end, his songs don't mean anything. i think that if we're to truly appreciate an emcee for his skill, we should look at emcees like black thought, cannibus, immortal technique (...and etc.) which they use rhyme, rhythm AND metaphors which make sense to describe the bigger picture.
I totally understand what you mean. You know growing up i mainly listened to rock music...i did listen to Hip Hop but i never liked it. It didn't appeal to me just because every rapper was talking about the same lifestyle, cars, rims, hoes, etc. it was wrong, it wasn't right, but when i heard "Food and Liquor" a majority of those songs made me think about those kinda sitiuations, and thats when i got all into the whole underground scenario, its meaningful and like you said it makes you think
i really dont see what any one sees in ANY of today's mainstream garbage. ever since i was 15 i started listening to underground and "oldschool"(trueskool) they spit garbage about a lifestyle its listeners will never have. and then we have this fuckin club shit. the funniest thing is when you tell them that oldschool is alot more diverse and intelligent and they say "i know it was alot better back then" but yet they dont listen to it and their excuse is "because its old"i say who fuckin cares
Not only is the lifestyle not real, it's also not gangsta at all. Who snitches on their self in a song? I understand what you are saying, just understand this. Music is made to inspire, what inspires you or others? It is proof that most people are easily controlled. I feel like I lose brain cells watching music videos & listening to the radio.

This is one of the best youtube videos out there that discusses Lil Wayne and contemporary "hip hop" and why it sucks! It's no longer Hip Hop. It's
Hip POP. Or better yet, just dance music.
