  • BBC Radio 2 played this at the time....never did the recognotion it deserved! Brilliant driving track.

  • Ya never feel the need....

  • A true American icon!!!

  • Best damn song in the land

  • the song was written about the cocaine trade back in the 80s and the people it fucked up along the way

  • @Jtanderson64 True.

  • @Jtanderson64 Too true, I remember when song came out I was @ 20 y/o...that line "someone's out there on the street tonight, when things go wrong he'll guarentee to make them right, if the price is right." Sticks with me for life; I was one of the lucky ones who got out from under that mountain of cold by my late 20s. Years of hell I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy & a lot of friends who didn't make it. To them I say RIP...to the dealers may they rot in Hell...

  • Well I agree it is underplayed but obviously Bob doesn't think that much of it or he would have put it on one of his two greatest albums. The song actually quite resembles "The Fire Inside" that made it on his first greatest hits album.

  • American Fuckin Storm!! 2nd Infantry Division, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, Charlie Company 1-9, Manchu Warriors. Ar Ramadi Iraq. Al Qaeda learned a lesson 'bout messin with a well trained battle hardened US Army battalion!! We kicked their asses...they learned what it's like to go up against AN AMERICAN STORM!! Hell yeah...and Hooooaaaahhh!!!

  • His best and great road song- put the top down, stars in sky and push that accelerator to the floor.

  • If you want to see the ORIGIONAL video (the one that looked like it was part of a movie), go to Bob Seger's Official website. They got it there. It's classic 80's video. Reminds me of "Miami Vice" when it was cool back in the dat.

  • @vxy357 hey do you know what the name of the movie. I am interested on watching it

  • @Javbuff2008 the video didn't come from a movie. The video was just shot that way. This was during the time when the tv show "Miami Vice" was popular.

  • The most underrated rock star in the history of music

  • I love seeing pre-music video era musicians struggle with the format in the '80s.

Great song, great artist ... and if you don't like the video, just listen to the music!

  • @RamblerGambler This was a miscalculation on several levels. It was sort of a comeback album for him, and this first single sounded too much like a lot of other things he'd done before. And "American Storm" was perceived as being in E Street territory because of Born in the USA. And the video made it look like this song was from a movie soundtrack.

  • I saw this show back in 1986 also at Market Square Areana in Indianapolis and I agree it was one of the best shows I have ever seen. Keep on rocking Bob.

  • Craig Frost!!!!! Love his Piano!

  • Fez parte de minha adolescência e ouvindo esta canção estou lá...

  • would love to hear this one more time live

  • the cheesiness of the band members in this video ruined the song for me

  • There are two version of this video. One was like a movie about drug dealers. Why dont they put that one out?

  • @Soldaten308

That's the one I was expecting to see! I always thought it must be a clip from a movie and this was the theme music. James Fox and Randy Quaid were in it, if memory serves me right.

  • @wickedwitch65 You're right. There was a scene where Quaid grabs a guy and loudly says "LOOK AT YOURSELF!"

  • @wickedwitch65 If you want to see that video, go to Bob Seger's official website. They got it there.

  • The piano by Craig Frost is amazing.

  • Love this song as a 28 year old on the road.

  • Loved this song as a 11-year old!

  • These song is truly genial. I like that one very much

  • This man was the voice of my youth. And I guess he is still my voice.

  • This is one of Bob Seger's best songs that was way underrated & underplayed.

  • @longhairedpig it's hard to say that this is one of his best as he has so many great tunes, like him putting out a greatest hits, yeah they all kick ass but, your always hungry for more. i can't get enough of his music either.

  • @longhairedpig you got that right this song kicks ass

  • @longhairedpig - This is his Greatest Song! One of my all time favorites! I was never a Big Fan until I "accidently" found myself in one of his performances, One of the All Time Greatest Showmen!.....My first concert was Led Zepplin 77, seen everyone, Stones, Dylan, The Who, U2, Prince, Michael Jackson, Guns and Roses, Elvis Costello, Tom Petty,Talking Heads, Clash, Bruce.......on and on and on....and yes, Bobby Seeger can hold his own with any of them! God Bless him!

  • Great song that for some reason never gets no radio airplay.

  • @WVUEERS Soooo many of the great ones never get played!! Not just Seger, but greats by B.Joel, Springsteen, Stones, etc. It goes on and on...A crying shame.

  • @WVUEERS agreed, I'm glad this was posted as it had so little airplay when new I've not had opportunity to hear it in a very long time. Great song!

  • this song proves that seger is a MILLION times better than springsteen

  • @jferkfjkj your nuts, bob couldnt hold a candle to bruces butt

  • @nutsaboutjoyce what is that supposed to mean

  • @jferkfjkj You posted that seeger is a million times better than bruce springsteen, and i will say this, bob puts on a low energy show, quite enjoyable, and he does a freakin fantastic job on his music, but his deciscion to not tour where bruce has been relentless in pleasing his fans with HIGH energy shows with duration exceeding 3 hours is what I mean.

  • @gravhammer71 I think the actual lyrics are "a mountain of cold", but based on the rest of the lyrics he may as well be.

  • @emmeta1012 it is coal as the lyric that follows is you never get warm.Did lots of coke and always increased my temp, lol

  • the band is rockin great in this one

  • Nobody can sing rock and roll like Bob Seger. Simply the best.

  • Hit#2 rock, #13 pop in Billboard. God bless!

  • Awesome song and one of the tightest bands in music history

  • I want to buy this song but still none of Bob Seger stuff on iTunes. Wake up Bob and appease us fans

  • Great song!

  • redrocker1055, it hit #13 in Billboard.

  • plz, want a piano cover!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and not that bullshit where people just play the bass line and vocals, i mean a cover.

  • I had this song running through my head for a while recently. (sure beats them angry voices...lol) Thanx for the vid!!! Very powerful song.

  • @Ministryoflove45 Thats the way he wants it. I personally respect that! Besides he doesn't need them. Billboard and Nielsen SoundScan just announced a few weeks ago that Segers 1st greatest hits from '94 was the decades-(2000-2010) best selling catalog album. Not The Beatles,Elvis, Pink Floyd,Led Zeppelin, or Springsteen. Nope it was little 'ol Bobby Seger from Ann Arbor, Michigan...

  • I was 5 when this album came out, so I clearly don't remember it. But man does this song sound like home!!!

Can anyone tell me if this song got any airplay? I'm sure it did here in Michigan but I wonder if it got any in the rest of the country... Anyone?

  • im in indiana and it was played when i was a kid, although not heavily

  • Thanks. I was wondering 'cos I've never heard on the radio and Wikipedia said that this was a single off "Like A Rock" so I asked 'cos I find it odd that I never hear it on the radio.

  • @redrocker1055 Thats probably cause your like 12. Radio is not what what it once was. Glad you have way better taste then your age group though.

  • @youtootube99 I'm 29 bro!

Of course I dig Seger.... I'm from Michigan! We're handed a Bob Seger and a Steve Yzerman jersey before the doctor even slaps us on the ass at birth!

  • @redrocker1055 I wonder if you're a white guy from Michigan? kidding my friend, so am I. I like Seger and Hockey is my game so I definitely know who Stevie Y is. I was in high school when this came out, I used to go nuts surfing the dial on my radio in search of this song, as it got some airplay in Ontario but was not on heavy rotation. Today we have the internet and I can find this song with the tip of my fingers whenever I please, boy have times changed.

  • bob after 1982 sure went a LONG TIME between lp's, he must of had a lot of cash i am guessing....they really need to put those early lp's of his in print again.

  • He's been raising his family. Thats why he takes so long. Besides Seger is worth the wait!!!

He just released a CD tilted Early Seger Vol: 1 at Meijer's but I think I herd his website is selling them. Also I think I herd something about a wider release

    sometime in February or March!

But as far as out of print albums, the last I heard he was in the studio re-mixing some old songs. Now if that means he only did it for this record or intents to re-release all the older stuff, I don't know!

  • Underrated song.Never ends up on his GH albums either.Saw this tour in Largo.

    Fantastic.

  • Tell me about it, thaliea4 and Davidnaja ! In 86, i was full bloom into my " Don Johnson " phase .... LOL... and one of the actors in the movie, played of course, the stylish Tough guy cop, ala " Sonny Crockett " and... to make a long story short, I made the song my personal anthem leaving Michigan to join the Navy. Please let me know one of you or anyone here finds it. Grazie, Gracias, Thanks....

  • @FMAStudent i think the actor you mean is Scot Glenn

  • thanks, mate

  • Thank You unaltrejuny!

  • Yeah, I remember that mini-movie. It involved drug dealers and undercover agents I believe. That thing is damned near impossible to track down. I know that James Woods was one of the actors. Can someone PLEASE tell me who the other actor was in the video? Fairly big name- I keep thinking Dennis Hopper or Gary Oldman but it's neither of them. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • i remember Leslie Ann Warren was.

but she is an actress, not actor.sorry.

  • Yes, thanks marisilence! I had totally forgotten about her. So it was James Woods, Scott Glenn and Leslie Ann Warren in the video. Why the heck is it so hard to find I wonder?

  • what makes this song great apart from the vocal is the piano

  • just such a kick ass number

  • Anyone know where the other video for this might be found? It was like a mini-movie with some Hollywood stars at that time...

  • Great song and video. I wished he had sang it in his last tour.

  • This has to be Bobs BEST video. JMO but I LOVE it. Makes me want to DANCE every time I hear it. The message is a fantastic one too.

  • This is a great song, thanks for posting. Haven't heard it in a long time since I sold my vinyl album. Random thought: this would be awesome spliced with some great NFL footage ROFL.

  • ¿alguien me puede decir la serie de television a la que pertenece esta cancion?
