  • Whats the music at 2:16 ?

  • What have you guys NOT DONE?

  • I've only just found out about this software and its really great. When I was in college you had to use different apps like director to do jobs, where this has it all built into one, I especially like the lip sync. I was looking up buying it and there are people selling it cheaper but only for students and teachers. I Have aggraphobia and can not leave my house to go college or university, can you not learn direct from them, do they have a community forum. I

  • @rhythm2007mc We certainly have a vibrant community forum and you can purchase Animate from Toon Boom's online academic store. Please write to academic at toonboom dot com to get instructions on how to proceed.

  • i have toon boom XD and i use it to animate my stuff...and i had no ideah the program i use can do all this stuff XD

  • Its harder than it looks .... ! I know make really good animations in Adobe Flash and trying it in this its much harder :)

  • They use Toon Boom to make Family guy?Holy crap,I gotta use this. O.O

  • @MegaAdam1000 From all the selection of things being done in Toon boom, things like the Lion King and Mulan, the one that makes you want to use the program is Family Guy? Seriously?

  • What is the fullest form of the software? ToonBoom Animate? I'd like to buy it for my animations.

  • @CheezChad If you are an independent professional animator, it would be Animate Pro.

  • @ToonBoomAnimation on this demo-reel what version of toon boom were these made on - and also could i start off to toon boom harmony straight away even though i am only somewhat experienced with anime studio, but not with toon boom at all? I would like to make something the quality of a disney movie, not long obviously and I have the artistic skills, what is your opinion thankyou

  • @kesh2212 We have a stand alone version of Harmony which is used to create this quality of animation. You can contact sales at toonboom.com to find out more.

  • @ToonBoomAnimation as a beginner animator such as myself, is it possible to start off straight away on harmony, or is it inevitable to start on beginner less professional one's to pick it up?

  • IDK if ts been asked and answered but what is the cartoon at 2:53? I can't see the company name.

  • @BlackLightX The studio is Sunwoo in South Korea

  • AWESOME!

  • Oh my. Toon Boom is serious shit. And I'm not being sarcastic. Wow.

  • @hado123 Thanks for the great feedback!

  • @hado123 toon boom isn`t shit, its just the some of the shows that are shit

  • @WaspeProductions "serious shit" as is "serious awesome".

"Shit" is a slang for "awesome" nowadays

And 'cause I'm young, I use it!

  • @hado123 oops, sorry about that

  • Mind = Blown

  • you really should delete comments about getting it for free (pirated).

Everything that mentions 'downloading' and 'torrents'.

  • holy shit so all those cartoon i just saw in these video are made from the software toon boom????

  • @sddfs777 All clips were provided by Toon Boom customers

  • @ToonBoomAnimation but what program did they use to make family guy?????

  • @sddfs777 They used Toon Boom Storyboard Pro for storyboarding and Harmony for animation production.

  • LUCKY CHARMS DUDE IS TOON BOOM!?!?!

    CURIOUS GEORGE!?

    FAMILY GUY!?!

    .

    OMGEEEEEEZ DISNEY!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    .

    I must buy.

  • When the camera rotates around the characters, are the artists actually re-drawing each perspective or is this like a 3d model effect with the program?

  • RUBY GLOOM ! ~

  • Is it possible to combine both Morphing and cutout animation to create a shot where an action is played with camera rotation, showing a turn-around of that action, and the background also shifts in focus?

And where can I find walkthroughs to making complex animations and simple animations? Like breakdown of how that shot or sequence is made.

  • If Toon Boom is capable of this, why is it so hard to find good cartoons on TV? Geez.

  • The Simpsons uses TB as well.

  • holy shitcakes batman!!! Family Guy is TOON BOOM?! No fuckin' way! AWESOME!!!

  • wich is better?

Toon Boom v4 or Flash cs4

  • Toon Boom v4 you have very much things in toon boom in flash cs 4 you cant do lots a things

  • Is it true that spongebob is done using animate?

  • Spongebob was done traditionally using Toon Boom Harmony.

  • I didn't know family guy was toon boom!!!

  • whats the movie with the three old ladies dancing

  • "Les Triplettes de Belville". A French movie done by studio "Les Armateurs". It was one of the first production using line texture to preserve the sketchy aspect of the strokes.

  • sooo, were all of these created in toon-boom?

  • Yes sir !

  • not at all, the triplets dont use a lot this program for the timing or movement (well actualy in the introducing for the secodn time of the city belleville they do) :)

  • well, they used Toon Boom then ! in traditional pipeline timing and drawing is done mostly on paper. Toon Boom arrives for scan, ink and Paint and often (but not always) compositing.

  • yeah , this program is greatm but is much better in the traditional way, but tthats not cheap :( , the most important thing of the animation is the time.

  • Can I import 3d objects into Toon Boom Animate Pro?

  • Not yet sir !

  • Thanks for reply :)

  • so ur saying that all these cartoons were used with toon boom?

  • @Khfangirl90 Yes, and more particularly with Toon Boom Harmony.

  • Family Guy uses ToonBoom only in their storyboard process. The layout are sent over-seas, but no idea whether they use TB for animation.

  • Animation is done is Korea by eMation (as far as I remember, but I could be wrong...) using Toon Boom Opus for the Scan, Ink and Paint, and Compositing process.

  • Edgar and Ellen is made on Toon Boom also

  • Wow, i downlaoded this program the other day, and that's all I can say. i never knew they used it for Family Guy!!

  • I do not believe Family Guy is made with Toon Boom.

  • Yes it is, look at the webpage of ToonBoom !

  • Can you show me a handwritten signature by the guys of Family Guy that they actually did?

I mean, ANYONE can make a site and say: This product is used for Family Guy.

  • Why me show you a signature, I don't work for ToonBoom, you can send an e-mail to them with the Support page :)

  • I know - I'm just saying I don't believe Toon Boom when they say Toon Boom is used by disney and stuff, simply because my dad is an animator and he uses way more advanced programs.

  • And who saying Toon Boom programs is not advanced, have you trie Toon Boom Harmony, this software is designed for animation companys take a look at toonboom page

  • I never said that Toon Boom isn't an advanced program, I just think and know there are much much better programs to animate with lately.

  • stop being a troll dick

  • How am I trolling you fool, I just don't believe Family guy got made with Toon Boom, I know so many more programs that would fit Family guy's style of animating

  • moron

  • 3'rd moron -.-

  • Lmfao, I have used it, and I also have used my dad's animation programs. And my dad's are 10000000000 times better than toonboom.

  • No one gives a damn on ur opinion, in Professional Animation TOON BOOM is the most used software , so whatever you say won't change that , of course they'r better for you cause they are your dad's -.- they dont even have a name? looks like no one even ever heard of them -.-

  • If I tell others about em he'll get fired. What's it to you anyways? Also I started with a question, then you come in cursing and now your whining about my opinion. You are one sick motherfucker.

  • ILixu,

While I can enjoy constructive debates here, I won't accept insults and lack respects here.

If you doubt about Toon Boom usage in studio its your choice. But Toon Boom did not received an Emmy Awards from the American Academy of Arts, Television and Sciences based on lies.

  • yeah, sorry bout that xD(insults)

  • that's funny because I began just normal, and then some other guy started cursing.

  • yaya sorry bout that '

  • just as a matter afact, didn't saw any flash demoreels about SUCCES shows from TV animated with Flash,

  • hmmmm... perhaps because Flash is mainly about scripting and making interactive stuff?

  • aha, but toon boom is only for animation ;) so as for animations , toon boom rules , and ur dads arent 10000000 times better, you even said so , so stop saying that please :D

  • Your point is? This just show what animation are made with Toonboom

  • dude this is ur 2nd comment on the same page saying the same stupid thing, why would toon boom give a damn if you belive or not that family guy was created with toon boom? use it yourself to see how good the software acually is THEN talk

  • Huh they make it look like a pice of cake :) And it's hard :)

  • yeah I know

I'm just starting to use it

it makes me respect those animators

  • @RistesTube I almost see it impossible :)

  • Well, when you say demoreel, you must be referring to paint and compositing, because many of these animations were done traditionally on paper and from scan onwards digitally.

  • Great demo reel! hats off to Toonboom for giving artists a great animation software.

  • i use flash but it's a bit difficult to animate with in some cases (no camera moving, no 3d space, no bones for caracters, etc.), this is why i'm thinking of changing to another software. which one do you advise? the good connection with flash would be preferable. i hope flash skills help to get familiar to any tb software.

  • Give a try to Toon Boom Animate. There is a free version to learn it at your own pace and it comes with hours of training video. Everything is on Toon Boom web site.

  • my bad it does have sound[s].... hehhehe.. my computer is on mute.... heehhe...

  • wow is a very great software... i going to buy me one of the software... well just wonder how much is the software anyways...

and about your vdo is great... but just need sound[s] then it more better...

again great job and thanks for sharing...

  • It's a very good program, I want it, but I've not enough money, I'm still using Flash.. :S

  • i can send u free if u want ..

  • was south park made in tb?

  • no, in maya 3d

  • South Park is made in Maya?

  • yep

  • I am not a south park fan so I might have missed something, is there a 3d version you are talking about, or the 2d series is made in Maya?

  • the 2d series, you can make 2d things in maya too

  • Wow, all the reading I have done, and tutorials I have done in Maya, and no one anywhere has ever mentioned this, now I have to rethink everything again. Do you have a site that discusses the technique used for 2d in Maya?

  • idk, but it was said on wiki. I'm not sure/.

  • Thanks, I am on it.

  • omfg family guy was made in tb!!!

  • was toon boom studio used to make this as well

    thats what i got

  • No, they are made with the Professional Product Line (Animate, Digital Pro, Harmony).

  • but can you make good cartoons with Toon Boom studio?

  • Of Course !, Animation is art, and therefor its all about your storytelling skiils, talents, effort, etc...

The advantage of the Professional software is the rendering quality, the flexibility, the integration with other software and with the production pipeline (as well as a couple of other things but it would be too long here...) But overall the ability to produce quality animation at lower cost.

  • TNX! :D I just want too make short animations. So i can use Toon Boom Studio! :)

  • Hello, I was wondering is it possible to do traditional animation?

  • wow,all of these are made by ToonBoom?

  • Yes with the Professional Product Line (Animate, Digital Pro, Harmony).

  • Can I upload my images I drew from a pieces of paper and animate them on ToonBoom?

  • Yes of course !

  • Oh!

  • There are also 3D movies in the film, but with ToonBoom can not make it?

  • No 3D movies, but animation that mix 2D characters with 3D background and props. Toon Boom offers tools which allows studio to mix elements from different sources easily.

  • Ok when I grow up I want to make my own cartoon show. People tell me this is the best program to start off with , You have several different products , which one to download for a beginner ?

  • Depends of your age and skiils !

For young and absolute beginners there is Flip Boom to learn the frame by frame principle.

Then there is Studio which add the notion of animatable puppets (cutout) and scene planning (camera, etc...)

Finally when you are ready for creating cartoon show, you can switch to Animate and the Professional product line.

  • Nice demo-reel, but this is useless to anyone wanting to know which version of your software created which type of animation. I'm sure I'd be sorely disappointed if I bought Toon Boom Studio Pro (for example) expecting to produce Fantastic Four caliber line-quality output.

  • There is no Studio Pro software at Toon Boom. As mention previously, These videos were made using the Toon Boom Professional products (Harmony and Digital Pro).

  • is this digital pro?

    I just have studio 4.0

  • Yes, most of these videos have been made using the Digital Pro/Harmony technology.

  • HAHAHA you noobs want to buy it. I'm downloading.

  • lol i recon

  • I MUST KNOW!?! what is the animation at 2:54 called!?!?

  • what song is that???

  • I'm a sophmore in the Animation Department at Memphis College of Art and we started our second semester of using your program. I just want to say thanks for making something so awesome for those of us that needed a means of creative output beyond flash and after effects. =D

  • Comment removed

  • I am Very interested in this program but I don't really see what the difference is between toon boom and flash CS4. I am an avid 2d animator and I can see being able to do this in flash with relative ease for the most part. is there anywhere that i could download a demo version?

  • You can try the demo version on Toon Boom web site.

Productions showcase in the demo reel has been made with the professional product line. Since you are familiar with Flash I would suggest you start with Toon Boom Animate.

It offers 3D camera space, palette, dedicated animation tool, etc...

  • Is your job basicly to monitor this channel and post a response to every comment possible? haha but seriously i'll check the demo out. thanks for the response

  • Exactly, I'm lock in a closet and Toon Boom feed me based on character count per reply everyday. So help me and post more questions !

    Thanks in advance.

  • Oh my goodness :O

haha alright here's a question for you.

when you say the program offers 3d camera space do you mean that it can model/map a 3D environment like After Effects?... not sure if you know how after effects works or not. but it's basicly a 3D space filled with 2D objects for the most part. and you trick the viewers eyes into thinking the 2D objects are actualy 3D with the camera tool and lights.

  • The creation world in Toon Boom is a 3D Space with x,y,z coordinates but currently the rotation are done on the z axis only to simulate multi-plane (Oxford type) camera.

We posted a video recently showing what's coming soon. This what AfterFx does and even more, do a search on "toon boom 2d 3d integration"

  • Triplettes of Belleville was done in Digital Pro?

  • Triplettes de Belleville was done before the release of Digital Pro.

But the technology used in the movie (texture line) is part of Digital Pro.

Moreover, it was the networked version of Digital Pro used (Harmony) because of the production pipeline requiring several people working at the same time on the scenes.

  • will you be making a 2008 demo reel?

  • Yes, there is a new one coming.

  • Can i make games in toon boom studio? I have flash and i could make games with that but is it possible to make games in toon boom?

  • You can create your game artwork (character animation, background, props, effects...) but the interactive part will have to be done in another application such as Flash. Toon Boom products export to Flash SWF, look at tutorials on Adobe or Toon Boom web site.

  • Thanks!I just bought ToonBoom studio and its great!Im hoping to see another demoreel for 2008

  • Hi Does Toon boom require any coding like flash? Thanks

  • No coding require to animate. In the Professional product line (Digital Pro, Harmony) there is a scripting language to customize the application.

  • I'm downloading the trial.

So, all this shows were made with Toon Boom?!? Wow.

  • Which animation software does Seth Mcfarlane use for his programs? (Family Guy and American Dad)

    Thanks.

  • They are using Storyboard Pro for pre-production, then draw on paper and use Toon Boom Harmony for Ink/Paint, Compositing. As independent animator you could use Digital Pro.

  • which is better....studio or animate!!!!!..

cuz studio looks hard to me....

  • Animate provides a higher image quality more suitable for HD and movie resolutions. It offers also more advanced features such as IK, Morphing and Special FX.

  • Hi which version of toon boom is best for someone whose new to toon boom but has basic knowledge in flash?

  • Gee, I had no idea people could make great cel animation with this. I thought it was mainly for the tween-based stuff.

  • I am a big time beginner i cant download trial but i want to buy it is it easy? for someone like me?

  • Ever tried "Macromedia" (now Adobe) Flash? If you have, the FEELING is similar... However, Toon Boom has lots more tools for animation, as oposed to Flash which has more tools for web stuff. I won't sugar coat; it isn't as easy as it may seem, but with patience, lots of it, and time, you will get the hang of it. Just hope you at least know how to draw stick figures.

  • well i have tried adobe but i dnt know how to get more clips in toonboom

  • Which Toon Boom product are you referring to?

  • The cheapest one.

  • Hi,

You need to be more specific....

    Flip Boom

    Studio Express

    Studio?

    Thanks,

    Karina

  • Hi,

Download the trial version and go through the tutorials to see how you like it.

    Best,

    Karina

  • OMG Family Guy , I Realy Want This Software

  • Wow, simply amazing the things that were made using this program.

  • All of these were done using only Toon Boom? Impressive.

  • Yes, these clips were provided by the customers to showcase the various productions and animation styles created using Toon Boom technology.

  • Well in that case, I think I might be getting Toon Boom and learning to produce amateur cartoons. I can't take courses in any university due to time constrains, so I'll have to rely on tutorial books and videos to learn the ropes (not as good as having someone to point things out by hand and give individual advice, but it'll have to do).

  • I am useing toonboom ver.4 at school and it's very difficult. Anyone know like an online manual for it? I have to know this stuff VERY soon :[

  • Hi

Have you gone through the tutorials?

    Karina

  • Yes it was. Film Roman uses Toon Boom Harmony for Family Guy, the Simpsons, The Goode Family, and Cleveland.

  • i would like some of toon boom software, except digital pro becouse is so expensive, but witch one do you recomend if a want to make frame by frame animation with very thin lines, or with a quality like 2:54

  • you want like a anime stile?

  • yes, but i guees they draw on onion paper and use markers (copic) to colour, and then scan them to a cpu and make corrections bla bla, not sure if that is the proces they use to make anime cartoons. but i would like to create some anime, so, what program do you recomend?

  • well i dont know the only one i really know to use is flash but that program is kind of shit so i dont know, but it looks this one is the best lol

  • Most of the Fox Television production (including Family Guy, simpsons etc.) are made using Toon Boom Opus. Opus is the tradition frame by frame animation software for studios.

  • that program is great.i'm using it and i recommand all to use

  • wow i so wanna get it wow 3000 dollers for pro maybe ill stick or un pro lol

  • The 3D stuff can't of been made with studio 4.5

  • digital pro

  • may i ask the system requirements 4 this? : )

  • nice :) toonboom can u plz tell me the name of the 1st song u used over this..its infectious hehe

  • Will you be having a showreel 2008?i cant wait :)
