Dress too long, stage too small, the horse cant be in such a small place. Its well known when u want to have a horse u need alot of space, cause its a big animal and I think they should have done it outside then this horse would survive and have a normal live after the show. BUT NOOOOOOOOOOO 'smart' ppl know what they r doing, thats why the horse ended up dead. Cause 'they know' -.-' fcking idiots -.-'
STUPID OWNERS IF IT GOT AND INJURY LIKE THAT ONE AND DIDN'T WANT TO PAY FOR IT THEN Y BUY THE HORSE BECAUSE U KNOW ITS GONNA HAVE AN INJURY SOMETIME!!!!!
@eventergal679 i agree that they were stupid but really most horses can't live a happy life after they break a hind leg its rare for them to live a sound life after breaking any leg but since their hind legs support most of their weight when they are both moving or standing still. so it was actually nicer of them to put the horse down after she broke her leg. its sad yes but it was still nicer than making her stand in a sling for up to 13months only to go through alot of painful therapy (C)
@LittleMustangMare and still maybe have to be put down because of a bad mend. its sad that, that is the option put it down or wait over a year and a half of expensive treatment and little to no exersize for the horse only to have to put it down. but those are the options and it is safer for horse and owner to go with the first if that situation comes up.
Um if they wanted a fashion show with a horse outside is a great place for it because then there wouldn't be any problems!! Hello common sense people GROW SOME BRAINS!!!!!!!!! It annoys the hell out of me and others too!!
In fact, the problem isn't the horse, but the too long dress of the girl which has provoked the fall. If you see attentively the video, you can see the back of the girl's dress is very long. So when the horse has to move back, he steps on the girl's dress and so the horse and the girl fall down.
hoses and slippery stages arent a good idea but all the ppl sayng they shouldve paid 4 the broken leg arent realizing that a broken leg is practically imparable and ALL of u wouldn't have wanted the horse to suffer. its kinder to put him down. beautiful horse though.
it is not the perons fault for the accident it happens and next time it will be avoided it is not said tht the people prolly didnt feel sad about it either although i do agree it was a bad idea there is no since in getting angry wen it happens

that idiot rider turned her where there wasn't any room! that stage was far TOO NARROW. they should have learned more about what they were trying to do! the people were ugly anyway! what is the POINT?! they completely threw that horses life away, it makes me SICK!
yes the horse should definatly not have been on that stage but you need to give the owners a break...just to operate on that horse would have been 5000 AUS easily and if his leg was broken thats 6 months suspended in a stall, he never would have been able to go above a trot agian (and even then it would hurt). the owners where stupid for letting it get up there but many owners dont think about the consequences of a seemingly simple action until its to late
Live, large animals on a stage are never a good idea. This poor horse was beautiful, but it is an animal not a freakin' stage prop! I hope these people fall off a cliff some day! IDIOTS!
I blame the owners for making their horse a part of this but i dont blame them for having it put down. If the horse is in pain, it shouldnt be left to suffer. I agree that the stage is not a place for a horse to be, but as far as putting him down, I would do the same. The chances of that horse recovering fully is very very low. Does that name Barbaro ring a bell? They tried to save him, but horses are very hard to keep still and they will probably never fully recover. The movie Dreamer is just a fairy tale. I have a question for you all: Is it worth keeping your horse alive for a few more years while he suffers or would you put him out of his misery?
wow those owners must have been total retarded morons that were drunk and on drugs! I would never, EVER put down any animals no matter how expensive! I would rather die or not hav a house or appartment than put down my animal!
I understand what you're saying however sometimes if the animal is in pain then it is better to euthanize them so that they may go peacefully than have to suffer in a stall standing on a stool for the rest of its life.
OMG! That's horrible, she got put down! It's mean to bring a horse on stage. Not enough room. Too many ppl and loud noises, probably got scared and lost balance. And ur not supposed to scream when u start to fall, it only frightens them more.
thats actually abusive and greedy.. like taking it on a stage JUST for entertainment?! i mean come on people! thats sickening! and also.. who in the right mind wouldnt wanna spend money on fixing their horse that they own?? they are REAL! =[
As a horse owner, I can say if MY horse broke her leg anything more than a tiny crack, I would put her down. There is no way she would stay still enough long enough for it to heal without drugging her up to her eye balls... which causes all sorts of nasty problems. Even if it healed, with most fractures, the horse would NEVER be able to run around and play and act like a horse, they would have to stay cooped up forever, and that is no life for a horse
How cruel to say such a thing about the owners. You did not see the fracture, so you have no idea if it could be repaired at all or not. There are a great many fractures that could never be repaired. Too if they are accompanied by soft tissue injury such as tendons and ligaments it can make it impossible as well. Don't be so judgemental about something you know nothing about.
normally if a horse breaks its leg & has surgery after surgery it is damaging to their quality of life there are lots of ways that surgery wont even help. If my horse broke her leg, I know that I wouldn't have enough money to fix her leg, and there would be so many chances that it wouldn't even help so I would rather have her put to sleep to stop the suffering. Did you get mad at the O'Connors for putting Teddy down?
true, but if ur really gonna have a horse opn a stage they shud have had a really big one how did they expect the horse to get back? run back wards?? i totally agree with u
Horses are also not meant to jump numerous high obsticals and yet they are trained to do that anyways. Compared to a cat, or animal that has to be able to jump to survive, they suck at it. By your logic we shouldn't even be riding them because is it their 'place' to be riden?
It also depends on the stage, if it is sturdy enough to support the weight and large enough to give the horse space, then it's fine. This one didn't meet those requirements but I have no problem with a horse on a stage.
But since when was a stage natural? Sure we train them to jump - but they don't HAVE to do it if they don't want too - even though that isn't the point. The work on grass or in an arena. They don't preform in front of people on a stage! People have been using horses to ride for centuries (in wars etc). They enjoy that. Sure horses can be used for entertainment - but not on a stage =\
I totally agree with all of you tho that horse should have never been put up on that stage. They are lucky they didn't lose the horse. It was a very pretty horse too. I would never in my life force a horse to walk on a stage that's maybe a 3 feet wide and 3 feet tall it's just plain animal cruelty. They should be ashamed of what damage that could have done to that beautiful horse.
no it wasnt, the horse is healthy and clearly well looked after, it was an accident. If this is animal cruelty then people should never ride as thats obviously animal cruelty too! Horses fall over out hacking for hells sake- ITS AN ACCIDENT! Grow up and look for real animal cruelty like live transportation.
wow freak out!!!! i didnt know go yell at some1 else!! all i thought is it was rude b/c they didnt want 2 pay 4 to save its life! thats not the best owner 2 me!
I saw the full length version of that and dont worry the horse fine the only thing that could have been wrong was that he had a sore leg maybe not even that. The horse got up and walked away. No Worries.
uhh....that's kinda wrong. "the owner's did not want to spend the money to try to save it's life"
who the hell can save a horse with a broken leg?? usually they are all put down and has nothing to do with money. look at Barbarossa...his owners were millionaires and that horse still died. it's more humane to euthanize a horse with a broken leg, especially a rear one.
though the owners were retarded to let the horse be used on a runway.
question when you say Barbarossa do you mean Barbaro? and it also depends of the brake some can be fixed. and it would be worse if the front because the horse puts most of its weight on the front feet not its hing....but I agree with you the owners are retarded
How is it humiliating? If that is your logic, then aren't costume classes humiliating as well?
A horse on a stage isn't cruel as long as it is sturdy enough to hold the weight and wide enough for the horse to menuver.Horses have been riden on stage many times b4 (academy awards 1991-beechnut)and nothing happened.Accidents happen in any situation with these animals and some are more tragic than others.
I do think this particular stage was not safe, therefore you are right to say that was cruel.
oh god, I saw nearly the same thing on a horse show last year. The horse leg got stuck and fell over thi rider. And that stage was some meters obove the ground. But the horse was not hurt (the rider was)
yeah but putting a horse down when its broken its leg is probebly the most humane thing to do so dont have a go at the owners for 'not spending money to save its life' putting a horse on boxrest for 6 months would prob have driven it crazy anyway
Most of the time when a leg is broken, it can't be fixed. Also, if the horse has been traumatized in some way (falling off a stage), it will most likely injure itself more during the treatments. It would most likely not handle a cast or sling under the belly as well as it would otherwise.
Treatment also is very expensive and many times people can't afford to have it done when it is likely the horse wont survive or will be in pain until it dies. It's sad, but true.
Oh My God! I saw this video on AFV once, it was a "Collage of people falling off of the stage" I cant belive they would show that on TV if the horse was hurt! >:(
okay it was a stupid idea to use a horse like this but it was noway selfish of the owners to put this horse down. i know many horses who have had broken legs and it is infact the kindist thing to do as horses are not like humans and cannot cope with the trauma of a broken leg.
Bad Owners, who let a horse walk on a three foot wide catwalk? and the horse was so very beautiful and did what him was told I'm so sorry beauty horse!
I think that maybe they shouyld put the owners and the people who arranged the stupid show on a catwalk miles to small for them even to turn on and make them break there legs and just soio oww it doesnt mtter we will just kill you instead not to waiste mnmoneyy !!!
Scrumpyjackpony: It wouldn't matter. This animal was expendable in the eyes of his/her owner and the people who arranged the fashion show. I'm sure the only thing these people were worried about was whether or not they were gonna get sued by an audience member who was injured by the flailing animal.
Very disturbing video. Beautiful horse with an incredibly stupid owner and stupid people involved in this "show." What a bunch of crap. Such people don't deserve to have, or be around, these beautiful animals. What a once-beautiful horse.
OOPS i didnt watch all of the vid ..... he had to get put down WHY THE HELL WAS HE UP THE ANYWAYS !!!! the POOR thing ...... he was just doind what he was ttold to do then he dies !! POOR HORSE !!
This is so sad. :[ I cannot believe they're using a horse just to catwalk down a stage - which is not even big, mind you. What were they expecting?! I hope that rider got hurt. Agreeing to even DO that is just so wrong.
go girl!!! these are stupid people another little girl would do anything in her power to save the horse and if your too lazy to save a life then why bother even to life?
Considering all we have is the author of the video's word about the fate of this horse, I am not going to jump to conclusions about his owner's motives. Often times, depending on the break, it IS more humane to euthanize the horse.
However, that stage was not designed for a horse to perform on it. That accident could have easily been avoided.
In a "real" riding ring, there is just as much danger and abuse as there is elsewhere. It's not the location that poses a threat to the horse (or rider), it's the rider/handler.
Many dangerous things can happen to a horse in a "real riding ring". If we banned every activity where the horse and/or rider could be harmed, there would be no sports left! Horses have been put on stage many times before with no problem, but accidents do happen.I do agree that the stage should have been wider.
You idiots... horses with broken legs have to be put down because they never heal. Horses can't lie down, they always have to be standing up, so the break never heals. Putting it down is the most humane thing to do!
Its disgusting that they put the horses and peoples lives at risk just to look flashy, and as a result, ruined the horse and had it killed. Disgraceful.
it was a stupid idea to put a horse on stage! what if the horse got spooked and freaked out more people could have been hurt and even the quietest horses can get a spook sometimes.
putting a horse on a stage isnt stupid if the stage is built to withstand the weight (they do it in the film Moulin Rouge is you look) and as said most horses what break legs are put down as it is kinder for the horse. I may be wrong but dont think the worst automaticaly.
Hattie2525: I disagree with you. This horse was a draft horse...extremely heavy and like all horses, all it takes is one slip for the entire horse to go down.
It wasn't so much about the weight (as the horse slipped off the edge of the stage)...it's about the fact that people will always think of themselves before an animal.
Hattie2525: Also, horses are usually put down due to the medical costs of rehabilitation/surgery and high chances of the horse becoming septic. Take a look at Barbaro, a race horse who was given a second chance (a story almost unheard of in the horse racing world).
The above video is proof of what can happen when people don't think about -- or take into consideration -- the worst case scenario. A horse had to die to teach his/her owners a lesson.
I agree with hattie2525. If a horse is in major pain and it is extremely unlikely they will pull through then sometimes it's best to end their suffering.
Also, most people don't have the money to pay for a long rehabilitation that most likely wont work and will mean extreme pain for the horse. There was a horse at my barn with that issue. The owner chose euthinization over prolonging the pain.
I do agree that the stage should have been wider though.
Why are people so stupid? You don't put a 1000-1500 pound animal on an itty bitty stage like that...and expect him not to either fall through the floor or slip off the edge.
While broken legs in horses usually end in the euthanization of the animal (due to a high chance of a fatal infection), the owners owed it to this horse to try to save his life.
scrumpyjackpony: I'm speaking of horses in general. Most horses (with the exception of draft horses) weigh in between 1000 and 1500 pounds depending on their breed and whether or not they are used as show horses.
It was funny until the captions came up at the end. Then my laugh kinda died.

In fact, the problem isn't the horse, but the too long dress of the girl which has provoked the fall. If you see attentively the video, you can see the back of the girl's dress is very long. So when the horse has to move back, he steps on the girl's dress and so the horse and the girl fall down.

If they have a horse on a stage they at LEAST need to make it more than like a foot wide! =/ horrible..
megalelala 3 years ago
wow those owners must have been total retarded morons that were drunk and on drugs! I would never, EVER put down any animals no matter how expensive! I would rather die or not hav a house or appartment than put down my animal!
poniezrock301 3 years ago
I understand what you're saying however sometimes if the animal is in pain then it is better to euthanize them so that they may go peacefully than have to suffer in a stall standing on a stool for the rest of its life.
SundaySilenceFilms 3 years ago
OMG! That's horrible, she got put down! It's mean to bring a horse on stage. Not enough room. Too many ppl and loud noises, probably got scared and lost balance. And ur not supposed to scream when u start to fall, it only frightens them more.
canukkkll 3 years ago
thats actually abusive and greedy.. like taking it on a stage JUST for entertainment?! i mean come on people! thats sickening! and also.. who in the right mind wouldnt wanna spend money on fixing their horse that they own?? they are REAL! =[

I totally agree with you!!

As a horse owner, I can say if MY horse broke her leg anything more than a tiny crack, I would put her down. There is no way she would stay still enough long enough for it to heal without drugging her up to her eye balls... which causes all sorts of nasty problems. Even if it healed, with most fractures, the horse would NEVER be able to run around and play and act like a horse, they would have to stay cooped up forever, and that is no life for a horse
johnsdurand 3 years ago
How cruel to say such a thing about the owners. You did not see the fracture, so you have no idea if it could be repaired at all or not. There are a great many fractures that could never be repaired. Too if they are accompanied by soft tissue injury such as tendons and ligaments it can make it impossible as well. Don't be so judgemental about something you know nothing about.
pirouette987 3 years ago
normally if a horse breaks its leg & has surgery after surgery it is damaging to their quality of life there are lots of ways that surgery wont even help. If my horse broke her leg, I know that I wouldn't have enough money to fix her leg, and there would be so many chances that it wouldn't even help so I would rather have her put to sleep to stop the suffering. Did you get mad at the O'Connors for putting Teddy down?

i like ur user name :) and i totally agree with u xx
TheBestDamnThing94 3 years ago
I'm sorry, but that sickened me. Why was a horse even on a stage in the first place?
That WAS cruel, no matter if it was well looked after before the accident or not.
In my eyes as a horse owner, rider and lover, that was completely preventable, just be not taking it there in the first place.
Accident or not, it shouldn't have happened
piratesmith 3 years ago
true, but if ur really gonna have a horse opn a stage they shud have had a really big one how did they expect the horse to get back? run back wards?? i totally agree with u
TheBestDamnThing94 3 years ago
Exactly. A stage is NOT the place for a horse. Especially not such a small one
piratesmith 3 years ago
Horses are also not meant to jump numerous high obsticals and yet they are trained to do that anyways. Compared to a cat, or animal that has to be able to jump to survive, they suck at it. By your logic we shouldn't even be riding them because is it their 'place' to be riden?
It also depends on the stage, if it is sturdy enough to support the weight and large enough to give the horse space, then it's fine. This one didn't meet those requirements but I have no problem with a horse on a stage.
stallmucker 3 years ago
But since when was a stage natural? Sure we train them to jump - but they don't HAVE to do it if they don't want too - even though that isn't the point. The work on grass or in an arena. They don't preform in front of people on a stage! People have been using horses to ride for centuries (in wars etc). They enjoy that. Sure horses can be used for entertainment - but not on a stage =\
piratesmith 3 years ago
I agree , lots of horses can refuse the jump if they want to =P lol
Helenheart 3 years ago
That stage needed to be wider for the horse to turn. Then it could have been avoided
kat3000005 3 years ago
I totally agree with all of you tho that horse should have never been put up on that stage. They are lucky they didn't lose the horse. It was a very pretty horse too. I would never in my life force a horse to walk on a stage that's maybe a 3 feet wide and 3 feet tall it's just plain animal cruelty. They should be ashamed of what damage that could have done to that beautiful horse.
pamaxley 3 years ago
Animal cruelty! It was an accident! get a life! Go look for real animal cruelty!
happyhunter1 3 years ago
it was 2 animal cruelty!
horsecrazzy94 3 years ago
no it wasnt, the horse is healthy and clearly well looked after, it was an accident. If this is animal cruelty then people should never ride as thats obviously animal cruelty too! Horses fall over out hacking for hells sake- ITS AN ACCIDENT! Grow up and look for real animal cruelty like live transportation.
happyhunter1 3 years ago
wow freak out!!!! i didnt know go yell at some1 else!! all i thought is it was rude b/c they didnt want 2 pay 4 to save its life! thats not the best owner 2 me!
horsecrazzy94 3 years ago
I saw the full length version of that and dont worry the horse fine the only thing that could have been wrong was that he had a sore leg maybe not even that. The horse got up and walked away. No Worries.

horselover0x 4 years ago
uhh....that's kinda wrong. "the owner's did not want to spend the money to try to save it's life"
who the hell can save a horse with a broken leg?? usually they are all put down and has nothing to do with money. look at Barbarossa...his owners were millionaires and that horse still died. it's more humane to euthanize a horse with a broken leg, especially a rear one.
though the owners were retarded to let the horse be used on a runway.
moonbaby83 4 years ago 3
question when you say Barbarossa do you mean Barbaro? and it also depends of the brake some can be fixed. and it would be worse if the front because the horse puts most of its weight on the front feet not its hing....but I agree with you the owners are retarded

A horse fasion show? That's just humiliating and crule to do to horses!!!
horses4ever15 4 years ago
How is it humiliating? If that is your logic, then aren't costume classes humiliating as well?
A horse on a stage isn't cruel as long as it is sturdy enough to hold the weight and wide enough for the horse to menuver.Horses have been riden on stage many times b4 (academy awards 1991-beechnut)and nothing happened.Accidents happen in any situation with these animals and some are more tragic than others.
I do think this particular stage was not safe, therefore you are right to say that was cruel.

people who wont spend the money to save their pets lives should burn in hell
they could have fixed its leg
depending on how it was broke
pennytrigger 4 years ago
Most of the time when a leg is broken, it can't be fixed. Also, if the horse has been traumatized in some way (falling off a stage), it will most likely injure itself more during the treatments. It would most likely not handle a cast or sling under the belly as well as it would otherwise.
Treatment also is very expensive and many times people can't afford to have it done when it is likely the horse wont survive or will be in pain until it dies. It's sad, but true.
stallmucker 3 years ago 2
Oh My God! I saw this video on AFV once, it was a "Collage of people falling off of the stage" I cant belive they would show that on TV if the horse was hurt! >:(

I agree that the horse needed to be put down, but to have a horse walk on a stage anyways? STUPID!
mistycowboy 4 years ago
okay it was a stupid idea to use a horse like this but it was noway selfish of the owners to put this horse down. i know many horses who have had broken legs and it is infact the kindist thing to do as horses are not like humans and cannot cope with the trauma of a broken leg.

scrumpyjackpony 4 years ago
Scrumpyjackpony: It wouldn't matter. This animal was expendable in the eyes of his/her owner and the people who arranged the fashion show. I'm sure the only thing these people were worried about was whether or not they were gonna get sued by an audience member who was injured by the flailing animal.
MissSarita83 4 years ago

aww!! poor horse:(
DakotahSundancer 4 years ago
Considering all we have is the author of the video's word about the fate of this horse, I am not going to jump to conclusions about his owner's motives. Often times, depending on the break, it IS more humane to euthanize the horse.
However, that stage was not designed for a horse to perform on it. That accident could have easily been avoided.
itsjustlikewhoa 4 years ago
horses are not meant to be in fashion shows. their either in the wild or in a REAL riding ring.
PonyFlyer321 4 years ago
In a "real" riding ring, there is just as much danger and abuse as there is elsewhere. It's not the location that poses a threat to the horse (or rider), it's the rider/handler.
itsjustlikewhoa 4 years ago
Many dangerous things can happen to a horse in a "real riding ring". If we banned every activity where the horse and/or rider could be harmed, there would be no sports left! Horses have been put on stage many times before with no problem, but accidents do happen.I do agree that the stage should have been wider.
stallmucker 3 years ago
You idiots... horses with broken legs have to be put down because they never heal. Horses can't lie down, they always have to be standing up, so the break never heals. Putting it down is the most humane thing to do!

it was a stupid idea to put a horse on stage! what if the horse got spooked and freaked out more people could have been hurt and even the quietest horses can get a spook sometimes.
showjumpn4eva 4 years ago
putting a horse on a stage isnt stupid if the stage is built to withstand the weight (they do it in the film Moulin Rouge is you look) and as said most horses what break legs are put down as it is kinder for the horse. I may be wrong but dont think the worst automaticaly.
hattie2525 4 years ago
Hattie2525: I disagree with you. This horse was a draft horse...extremely heavy and like all horses, all it takes is one slip for the entire horse to go down.
It wasn't so much about the weight (as the horse slipped off the edge of the stage)...it's about the fact that people will always think of themselves before an animal.
MissSarita83 4 years ago
Hattie2525: Also, horses are usually put down due to the medical costs of rehabilitation/surgery and high chances of the horse becoming septic. Take a look at Barbaro, a race horse who was given a second chance (a story almost unheard of in the horse racing world).
The above video is proof of what can happen when people don't think about -- or take into consideration -- the worst case scenario. A horse had to die to teach his/her owners a lesson.
MissSarita83 4 years ago
I agree with hattie2525. If a horse is in major pain and it is extremely unlikely they will pull through then sometimes it's best to end their suffering.
Also, most people don't have the money to pay for a long rehabilitation that most likely wont work and will mean extreme pain for the horse. There was a horse at my barn with that issue. The owner chose euthinization over prolonging the pain.
I do agree that the stage should have been wider though.
stallmucker 3 years ago
i think its sick that you even put this on. people like that shouldt have horses
klozzle 4 years ago
That is sick. It shouldn't b put online. People like that don't deserve a horse!
actionandpower 4 years ago
Why are people so stupid? You don't put a 1000-1500 pound animal on an itty bitty stage like that...and expect him not to either fall through the floor or slip off the edge.
While broken legs in horses usually end in the euthanization of the animal (due to a high chance of a fatal infection), the owners owed it to this horse to try to save his life.
All in the name of fashion, huh? So sad...
MissSarita83 4 years ago
I thinkl that horse would of been qorth more than 100-1500 punds it WAS bueatifull stupid sick peoplee!
scrumpyjackpony 4 years ago
scrumpyjackpony: I'm speaking of horses in general. Most horses (with the exception of draft horses) weigh in between 1000 and 1500 pounds depending on their breed and whether or not they are used as show horses.
