Privileged, to see Jennifer sing this in the 1980's on British TV. I was a teen, into usual music of that time. I couldn't speak after hearing this. This is the 2nd time I have seen this, and it has had a similar if not a more profound impact on me. 44 year old man, tears filling my eyes. Amazing, and thank you for posting this.

Not only did Holiday set the bar as the original but she sung and acted this scene out, LIVE, 8x a week and left the audience stunned, emotional and standing and begging for more every single time. Hudson's version of the song was pre-recorded (with multiple retakes) and she probably had several retakes during the movie film recording.
