if i get the base model i can get the kit but if i get the z06 i cannot due to price reasons can i still see 500whp on a stock motor with the base model c5 not the z06?
Turbos will soon become a basic component of every engine. There is no downside to them except weight, which is made up for in the boost created. They will continuosly be improved by being made smaller, more efficient, and cheaper...just like they're doing with jet engines. I have a boner.
@BULLITTx357 Yeah, you can still beef up any other parts that you want too. Adding much more power than the base turbo system though and you'll want to start beefing up the motor and other parts to hold the power.
Why is it that every supercharged \ turbo c5 corvette I look at is always a Z06? I'm looking into a twin turbo kit for my C5, is it such a bad thing to put a turbo \ supercharger on a regular C5 and not a Z06?
i see what the guy is talking about between keeping it naturally aspirated or forced intro. i personally would like doing both. but if you are going pick it would be a tough one to pick.
@TheSmoonge Heads refer to cylinder heads which are what hold the intake and exhaust valves. Headers refer to exhaust manifolds which take the exhaust from each cylinder and put them into the exhaust pipe.
@BlindedSn1per If you had payed attention to the video the man said it had a mild tune and runs 7 pounds of boost. This particular 'vette was meant to go fast, but not too fast.
@flawns I'm pretty positive that they are legal in cali. It's super charged vehicles that typically are really bad on emissions. The best way to be positive would be to give STS turbo a call.
Do they have anything for Jeeps? I'm currently rebuilding a 94 Jeep YJ, In order to get more power, most people replace the inline-6 for chevy 350's.. I wanted to keep the stock motor, but rebuild it with a supercharger or twin turbo system..
i went with the TT Kit on my c6.. amazing set up.. but i maybe woulda went with heads cam an intake and also some spray for when i wanted to go real fast..reason being.. ive had way too many problems with miss fires and car being down with the TT kit
I never understood the concern about turbo lag when it comes to running on a v8. The corvette stock has so much torque that any turbo lag of the line will actually help you get off the line a lot better when you're able to have better traction before the boost builds up.
i did a custom homade rear mount on my 96 cobra, and i used a t70,AR.70COMP AR.84 TURBINE, and there is no lagg at all!,and instead of using the oil from the engine and having to worry about loosing a line, or something like that, i made its own oil system, with 2 elctric scavenge pumps, a resivor, and a filter, all in the trunk.i Had a problem at idle low rpm burnin oil, so With a homade boosta pump it increases flow when amps increase in the alternator, so theres more PSI at hi rpm,
ok i have a 2001 gsr integra that ive always wanted to turbo, but here the problem i refuse to sacrifice my a/c but it seems with the sts turbo i will be able to produce highhorsepower without removing my a/c correct? I kno i can get a manifold to keep my a/c in the integra but ive heard i wouldnt put down any really good numbers?..
to be honest, we haven't really dealt with the integras, so I'm not sure. It would probably be best for you to contacts sts turbo to be sure. But I believe you are correct.
keep ur integra as is, great cars but not performance cars, and get a junk camaro and fix it up, the do its suspention, freshen up the engine, and add a turbo system. just my 2 cents
@joelz1221 if ur biggest concerns is the a/c when turbo charging ur car, i dont think you should do it because u will run into many problems.(as every car does when u turbo it)
There wasn't any lag, as soon as the engine starts running, the pipes are filled. It's just like using a waster hose, fill up the hose, it takes a second, then try turning it on again, and the pressure is there immediately. Same thing.
@skylinrcr2 you do know the whole reason for twin turbos are to eliminate turbo lag right? the first turbo spools in the lower RPMs and the other turbo spools in the high RPMs to minimize turbo lag. the owner mentioned that he runs 7 psi. if both turbos spooled at the same time, why would you need 2 turbos to generate 7 psi. a single turbo can easily generate 15 to 20 psi.
I don't understand how an engine with 10.25-1 compression (or something like that) can safely take 7-9psi boost when people say a carbureted 350 with 8.5-1 shouldn't take more then 6psi.
I bet you're gonna tell me that the computer on these newer engines adjusts the air/fuel ratio and timing so it can happen.
okk i know this sounds dumb but i want to put the universal kit on my honda but, i dont want it to be loud( as i see almost all hondas with the fart cannons). is it possible to mount the turbo and everything in the rear but still have a muffler?
Not that I know of. Keep in mind though that a turbo is going to muffle quite a bit of sound, and the sound of a honda and the sound of a corvette are going to be very different, in terms of loudness.
Yes, it is. Call 'em up, it can be done. (If you go without a muffler, it sounds like a really, really big electric drill, not like your car is taking a post-Taco Bell shit.)
turbos also like high gear ratios I`m seriously considering this for my tahoe shit I`ve already ordered the headers to start the 2.5 dual to single exhaust
now is this kit available for say an 85 corvette?

@TheSmoonge Heads are part of the engine, and headers are part of the exhaust.

@usmusclemods Oh yeah, now I remember. But why do you have to upgrade the piston heads when you do a twin turbo mod?

Most of the stock engines that run the sts turbo kits run at 5 psi, and then after the motor is built they run at a higher boost.
