  • Very useful, thanks a lot for the demo...

  • now i'm made up my mind. i will get one of this. tnx for the demo.

  • whats the song at 2:18

  • Great demo. I appreciate that you repeated the same riffs with different settings, and also as someone said 2 years ago, didn't spend the whole time noodling blues licks (but we did get to hear the lead sound).

  • This riff reminds me of something ;-)

    watch?v=Fy_SgnWxlig&NR=1

Great video btw, and yeah really cool to hear that type of riffs, enough with those old school riffs !!

  • Put the volume halfway tone at 10 o'clock and sustain all the way or tone off and wicker on at about 9 or 10 for sleep sound.

  • Would this be good for stuff like White Stripes/Nirvana/QoTSA/Smashing Pumpkins?

  • @Eldererr Im not and expert but definitely!

  • @Eldererr Billy Corgan used a Big Muff throughout his career, Kurt Cobain didn't often use a Big Muff, but it was essential for such songs as Lithium and Territorial Pissings, and many other grunge bands used it as well (Mudhoney named an EP after it). I know Jack White used a Big Muff too. I don't know much about the Queens of the Stone Age, however I know that this guitar should work for that sound (it would definitely work for Kyuss).

  • @Eldererr This is probably the best pedal for that.

  • A+ demo. Thank you!

  • Hey I was wondering, is there really a differnce between this and the Big Muff Pi w/ Tone Wicker? Like is with tone wicker worth the extra money?

  • Excellent Demo...Especially for a "Room a Thousand years wide". ;)

  • Thanks for showcasing this finally... Proguitarshop has a good demo, but not exactly what I was looking for in terms of demo sounds. Thanks. didn't know if this thing could chug, but it doesn't sound too bad for that sludgey doom.

  • Great demo, I like how you real time change the controls instead of pausing the video and then doing it because that way you can notice the difference alot more.

    Great Vid

  • good job dude!.....really nice demo

  • Can I play thrash metal with it?

  • @mikakit If you use it as a boost yes. I use it for simulating a cross between Black Sabbath and Dismember

  • The wicker switch seems to work better on single notes than on chords.

  • Room A Thousand Years Wide!!!

  • what's that song started 2:22

  • fantastic demo! i would like to know if you can get a fat palm muting sound out of it? some really "chunk"??? because that was the reason why i sold my nyc big muff!

  • @seande Wicker on, tone off. Sounds amazing.

  • soundgarden !!!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAHHH !!

  • Nice

  • Room a thousand years wide by Soundgarden. I love this song. Can't believe they're back.

  • So what;s he verdict to everyone? which one is better, the original or the one w/ tone wicker? does the one with tone wicker pretty much sound like the original but does more? i'm up in the air and want to know what other people think.

  • They have such a distinct sound. Didn't Gilmour use a Big Muff?

  • weird thing is, the bass muff sounds as awesome on guitar as this bad boy

    just sounds alot darker

  • bad ass just got mine today LOVE IT! sounds great through my twin reverb.

  • can you use guitar effect pedals with bass guitars??! I was looking at a Digitech Metal Master for my Washburn bass and saw a video where someone had a DMM hooked up to his bass and it sounded great. I'm just looking for some sick metal distortion. any ideas?!?

  • there is a huge amount of pedals for basses on the market, with any sound you want, why use guitar ones?

    but still: yes,you can.

  • Actually there is not a huge amount of pedals for basses on the market if you compare them to guitars. As someone who has been looking for a good pedal set i've resorted to looking mostly as guitar pedals. Bass pedals are usually the same as guitar pedals just priced more to account for a lower market and wanting to rip the customer off. Take the dunlop crybaby for example; the basic bass one is $40 more on average than the basic guitar one-they both function the same.

  • not always. my crybaby sounds terrible on bass.

  • I might have to disagree with you.

  • You can use whatever the heck you want. A problem you may run into though is that when using gain pedals that are designed for guitar, they can suck up some of your bottom end. Bass pedals are designed to work with the lower tone. The bass player for Muse uses/has used a Boss DS-1 for his bass but I would have to imagine that it's either MIJ or modded because the post 94 ones are complete garbage.

  • I would recommend the Big Bass Muff on my life btw. The only distortion pedal I would ever lay down in front of my bass amp.

  • That's pretty hard core, you should have shown different levels of sustain. Still, that was a great review, thank you very much for posting it!

  • every review i see makes me want it more

  • YES! Love that Soundgarden...and those add 9 chords...and the pedal.

  • For the Big Muff w/ tone wicker to be a normal muff. You should toggle the left switch up and the right down.

  • Thanks for this great demo! I'm buying one!

  • Are you serious? Just grab a powerchord and slide 'till it sounds right then! :P

  • best demo ive seen.... for anything, you really show everything the pedal can do. new subscriber!

  • just got this pedal today! sounds awsome!

  • hey tonefactor can you please tab the beginning of that out for me. its a cool riff .

  • so does the wicker like add some mid to the sound

  • it adds treble

  • Nice demo.

  • Thanks!

  • how much...im in greece...thnks

  • Thank you, this is by far the most helpful video demo I've seen/heard of this pedal online yet. I wish more people would demo a pedal like this with the kind of music that people would use it for instead of noodling all blues licks.

  • Glad somebody gets it. : ) Thanks for watching the video.

  • Agreed, I don't wanna hear rehashed Eagle's lick anymore, it makes my soul hurt :(

  • Though I don't play this way, I do agree it's great to hear someone demo the pedal this way. Most guys don't really take care in WHAT it is they play on these demos, just crappy noodling and turning the dials. Nice job. Since i can't afford a vintage Rams Head Big Muff, this one is the one.. nice and flexible too, unlike most Muffs. Thanks.

  • Exactly!

Some reviews are just so lame cause it's obvious they're just showing off licks. They don't even bother with the chords n shit.

This review rocks!!! Why didn't I find ToneFactor earlier? Damn

  • damn just what i've been waiting for a brighter muff...

  • Soundgarden! YES!

  • OMG !! im cumming !!

  • I want it. So bad

  • Dude i listened to your demo and bought one. I LOVE IT!

  • do i need an amp with channels in it to go from a distortion sound to a clean sound?

  • No, the pedal will take you from your bypass signal, which is the amps clean signal, to the pedals distortion/fuzz/overdrive/what-have-you.

  • I love Muffs!

  • WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS THING?

  • New Big Muff pedal.

  • sounds like hum!

  • hm really? I dont hear it

  • Great Demo!

  • Thanks! Glad you like it. :)

  • Soundgarden! Nice.

  • micro metal muff and a green sovtek muff just had a baby, and it's this thing

  • Thank yo thank you thank you, I've been so damn curious about this new Muff. I want to know what you honestly think about the tone of this thing, having tried it up close. Is it anything special? Why did you guys have some dude play heavy metal riffs? It would've been nice to hear some classy rock stuff, oh well, thanks for the demo you guys rock!

  • I like Metal. :)

    Brad

  • Its really... smooth?
