  • hes the BEST!!!!

  • carlos alomar at his best

  • @ XUKMUSIC: your idea makes sense, does sound like he's struggling in places on the dallas clip.

i initially wondered if they suddenly had to change the setlist in a mad panic when Earl Slick rejoined at the last minute after they'd spent ages rehearsing with SRV

but your explanation sounds convincing, wild is the wind would be pretty demanding to sing too.

Joe the lion is a mystery though

  • It sounds like he's saving his voice in this rehearsal but I think there's more to it than that. If you check out his later live performances he drops songs down at least a couple of steps - often more - to avoid straining his reduced range. Overall it doesn't get noticed because his voice is so rich and varied that they are still very satisfying performances. I suspect that in 1983 he wasn't ready to start compromising his live sound so he dropped the song from the set.

  • Why did Bowie drop this so soon into the tour? It seems like an ideal selection for the upbeat tone of the show he was doing, and he had the horns! It sounds great.

  • @HobbyWizard I have never heard about any reason why he dropped this song, same happened to Joe The Lion. Both sound great in the 83 arrangement.
