The black folk had lived a tough pass, Not many want to remember there mama's and daddy's, grandma and grandpappy's being beat and killed just for liven. That's blues.
Why don't todays black folks do this anymore? its all ignorant rap that many only want to do. its a sad saad damn shame that many black folks forget their roots with the Blues!
yeah got that wrong i meant turn it ON i just mean on your stereo or pc media player but especially if you on the train or bus! if you used to listening to modern stuff and you playing this on your ipod or something and you got the volume jacked right the f*k up cos his speaking voice so soft so quiet when he telling this story.. honestly whenhe say: well if you cant cay it just S i N G I T sounds beautiful plus loud as f*K!! i think they call it dynamic range jump out your seat for sure!
atbieb not much after you said that have you heard other recordings of this? sometimes when he sing 'wooah!! mr charLIE' you have to turn the auto volume levelling off or at least-ways set it to "classical" cos the electronics can't cope with how he sound when he sings when the feelingscome out like an ashmatic flutist or an arthritic drummer maybe start off then the whole orchestra come in this how he sound to me telling this story = 3+1/2 minutes on my LP b4 u hear ur rolling mill's bur....
Lightnin Hopkins is sooo right about stuttering and singing. I know he is right from experience, thats goes on with preaching/speakin as well. Did u hear Billy say, "I dont know bout that", but Lightnin said, " you dont know but i do"... and Lightnin was/is right!
I saw this when I purchased The Blues According to Lightnin' Hopkins by Les Blank. It's one of the special features in the dvd. It's one of those great moments in Blues music history that is captured on film. Billy Bizor is so unknown and underrated on the Harp and puts so much emotion into it. Lightnin' is such a great storyteller that he can put it into music. Outstanding.
This is amazing stuff! Where does it come from? I have never seen this footage of Lightnin' before. Very interesting how he talks about John Lee Hooker at the end, seems they had a great deal of respect for each other.
Wow i was listening to this song in the morning. I havent seen this clean video before. This is great. Thank you for sharing this video. Where did you find it?
