  • @rockinbillyboy Agreed, that number is etched into my head. Excellent.

  • Thanks so much for putting this up, brings back some lovely childhood memories :-)

  • I bet the boy who got the giraffe picture , Ian still has that, it would be an antique now Tony Hart has died. RIP Tony Hart!

  • Kurt Cobain so nicked that opening theme....

  • did anyone ever notice that more often than not,if there was a phone in to swap shop, the kids all had southern accents!.think how our telephone systems used to operate and it was easy to work out that because thy didnt have to dial 01 before the other digits and remember few of the exchanges at this time were digital so if you lived outside the london area, the call took longer to get through.cheers

  • @escillon that's because all the northern kids watched Tiswas to see Tarrent shove custard pies in people's faces. Swap Shop was far too sophisticated for northern children to understand.

  • I used to have an identical clip of this, on a video from around 1993 lol. Good clip!

  • still rockin the beard today!!

  • The 8-year old that called in wanting a giraffe picture is probably about 37 now.

    God I'm old.

  • Wow you´re cool..! Shut up you muppet!

  • What year is this from?

  • This theme was by BA Robertson and was from the final series from 1981/1982. For the last series it was called Swap Shop rather than The Multi-Coloured Swap Shop. BA Robertson then did the theme for Saturday Superstore.

  • Ha! Ha! Maggie and Keith before the divorce!

  • @fraserkatie Maggie and Keith before they were married and they were clearly shagging each other...

  • Interesting. I have the single with that title theme - "Hello - Hello" from Brown Sauce...

  • Great stuff! I would have loved it if TOny Hart had drawn a giraffe for me!

  • I second that - great stuff, cheers

  • Brilliant! Thanks for the post. Any more Swap Shop would be much appreciated!
