  • LOVE IT!!! first discovered this as an extra on the B side of 12" of blasphemous rumours , think its was live in berlin exactly the same cept Dave say 'oh oh' a bit differently , Thats DM nerdiness . . . . .

  • Discovered Depeche Mode when they released Construction and have loved them since. Thanks guys for the awesome music.

  • Love this. DM-forever

  • Must have been so much fun for Dave Gahan to sing/dance in front of Martin's FUNKY-ass basslines. awesome

  • They all had such great voices...I love them all

  • written by Alan Wilder.

  • Alan's voice...very nice..!

  • AWANTE DOS MINUTOS!

  • uhoh one bieber fan ....

  • saw the mode lots of times in the early days the roadies told me that fletches gear was never plugged in, he never played a note live or wrote a song he's their accountant, still love the man though he dedicated photographic to me and my mates when we went to see them at newcastle city hall.

  • Ya need a two minute warning to avoid this crap.

  • @suburbansoftrocker go listen to lady gaga

  • No radio, no sound, no sin, no sanctuary. So welcome to your last. DM for Life

  • i appreciate the effort they try to make original music. no two songs sound/are alike. they are all unique.

  • @youyouyouwhy "Sometimes" and "Judas" kind of sound alike, apart from that superb!

  • Bloody Soviet bastards, making me and the rest of my generation spend our impressionable childhood years under the threat of nuclear annihilation with just 2 minutes warning before it all ends. With films like the day after on ITN, enough to make any one a paranoid mess.

Though I do take consolation for some excellent emotionally charged music, seems more authentic and sincere somehow than what passes today as mainstream.

  • go Alan! you're the best :)

  • I didn't know Dave has two vocal chords.

  • Best Depeche Mode Time ever

  • Dave Gahan in his Devil's cut hair style. Classic. Saw them live in '93 concert, Manila.

  • Avanti anni luce....grandiiii

  • Alan sounds alittle like Martin, when he sings, I sure wis there was a demo of him singing this song since he wrote it.

  • God!!!! I love this song!!!!! is one of all of my favorites, DEPECHE MODE is the best band ever!!! their lyrics are so different than the other "new fashion groups" have a beautiful sense and meaning of the life, Im love them with all my life!!!! and soul!!!! :D

  • @gemmatzn111 great bands like these play for the music.. those guys just play for the fame nd money thats y there not even good nd stupid ass ppl like the music because they think its good

  • yeah

  • sono straordinari!!!

  • That shit is fresh as hell!!

  • Anybody have this exact version in mp3? I'm dying to get it on my ipod!! :'(

  • @tomzsexy77 Yep....I have it.

  • @TiamatVarga Do you give it out?

  • @tomzsexy77 sure. Give me an email address or tell me what messenger program you use and we can do a file transfer.

  • the guy whos going out with john cusacks ex wife in the film. the one with the glasses who pilots the small airplane. looks EXACTLY like andrew flether. its him... lol

  • actually andy looks more like the actor in 2012. If anyones seen that movie they,ll know which guy i,m talking about. looks exactly like him. lol

  • @sparkycorry - you mean John Cusack... yeh there's definitely something there lol

  • Love this song. So bouncy and energetic!

Dave looks so damn good!! ;D

  • might i add...dave looks really good!

  • i like dave singing it but Alan is good at it and its cute when he sings it!!! DM IS AMAZING!!!

  • die vhs hab ich auch.iss geil.

  • You silly kids ... Alan Wilder wrote this song. An awesome piece, so grand to see it live!

  • I am quite sure David didn't "let" Alan sing. Alan is the musical backbone of the band. So if the music warranted Alan's voice...he would sing. Simple.

  • Well, thinking about it, the way the verse leads into the chorus, it'd be kind of hard for Dave to sing that by himself. I guess Alan kind of... "Filled in" for him, so to speak.

But you're right, if the music warrants it, he'd do the backing vocals. It seems though that he's holding back big time if he thinks he can't sing, I mean, even Fletch tried! He's even not so bad (You can hear him sing in the end of Sun & The Rainfall). Alan should at least try, he sounds great from what we've heard.

  • I am quite sure that Fletch's mic was never actually turned on....lol. I have seen them so many times and I am a musician as well and I often wondered if any of his gear was ever on. I know this is terrible to say because I love them so much but even as incredible as I think Alan is their music is so structured and DM has always had the technology...i often wondered if they actually played. I mean they could conceivably create parts and never actually play them live....

  • Well, I ment Fletch's attempted solo career (In which he'd sing). He tried, but, was turned down. It was too much of a light hearted try, he could have done it.

Though, I wouldn't think they'd record everything, though. They've had their number of accidents. During a performance of Sun & The Rainfall Alan hit an extra key (Believe it or not), and I wouldn't think they'd put an accident into a recording. But, I understand what you're coming from. =D

  • Alan wrote this? no wonder it sounds f'n awesome..

  • I love how Dave lets Alan sing the first line in the chorus. =D

  • alan got a nice voice

  • Is this from The world we live and live in Hamburg? Seems so, though my US copy doesn't have it :(

  • I love this band, listening to their whole discography (minus Exciter) and I cant really fault it. Their songs/lyrics stand up today and surpass so many of today's tunes. I am just sad I didn't get into them until my early 20's. Every album they evolve. My favourite band - if you don't like DM... you just have not listened to them enough. Peace.

  • This sound is really my flavor.. it's not only "new wave" style, but also has a "break beat/dance" style feeling.

PS .. that`s rare, but this live version sounds much better for me than the studio version. Here, daves voice are more powerfull and the Synthesizer sound in the background when dave sings, is a bit different to the album version..

  • Written by the great Allan Wilder!!!

  • Man that Fletch really works up a sweat, huh?

  • my fav song from construction time again

  • Dave's jumping is funny!

  • quien dijo que Alan no escribía? esta canción es de Alan W.!! excelente por cierto

  • Alan Wilder es un GENIO. Y sin el depeche mode nunca han vuelto ( ni volverán) a ser lo que fueron.

  • 1:46 great Dave's voice

  • That's my favorite part too, fisichella!

  • An Alan Wilder Original... Proberly The Best Song He Ever Wrote?

  • And what about If You Want... ?

  • also the landscape is changing another Wilder orig

  • Is this the version that's on the B-side of the Blasphemous Rumours 12"? Def. some good songs then, but they seemed to be even better live (see also "Ice Machine", etc.).?

  • Fantastic song from earlys -and best- Depeches

  • why dose every one talk about andrew like he dosent belong?

andrew i part of dat band, and he plays music too, you can really hear but on the song behind the wheel, he playing, along wit alan:)

why should people tak abou other people like dat?

  • storm, I feel the same way.

I hope this doesn't sound dumb, but the best comparison to Andy that I can make is Ron Weasly from the Harry Potter novels. Most poeple would assume that he doesn't contribute much, but Harry and Hermione absolutely need him or they'll fall apart. (Book 7, anyone?)

Dave and Martin need Andy. They've even said that Andy held them together when they wanted to break DM up. For that I will always be grateful. GO ANDY!

  • @starmonkey17 meh, shame alan went but andy didn't

  • I love the atmosphere in this concert. Must have been a great time. Unfortunately I was way too young to visit a concert in the 80s, or even to get to know depeche...

  • Words and music by Alan Wilder.... Wonderful song

  • Go Dave Gahan , Go Darcy Edwards

  • Sorry i spelt "their" the wrong way. I,m a horrible person. Depeche Mode forever yeahhh.

  • Actually it's "they're".

    Nevermind!

  • Before even knowing Alan wrote the songs this and the landscape is changing were two fav songs from CTA. Still think there going strong without him though.

  • alan wilder dosent write there songs, martin lee gore, after vince clark left, martin was left to the song writeing lol

but if alan writes songs, it never says anything on there website:)

  • 2 min warning was written by Alan wilder...read the album notes....

  • one of my most favourite DM songs ever! respect!

  • Oh what memories! I'm the same age as the lads and I saw them way back in 1981!!!....and I'm seeing them again in December....woohooooooooooooo!!!!

  • This makes we wish that I was born 25 years earlier...

  • makes me proud to be English.

  • YES ^^

  • what if ,,,,,,, alan was still with depeche mode?

  • then DM would still be putting out groundbreaking music.......though I loved there knew album....it wasn't groundbreaking.

  • Alan Wilder didn't write many songs for them and he unfortunately stopped after the first couple years. But this is the best song he wrote for him IMO. This should have been a single.

  • Well I like "If You want" better than this one.

  • I was 2 in 1984 and discovered DM.

    LOL I wish.

  • love this track

  • This is seriously one of the best live performances by DM I have seen. Dave's voice is solid!

Oh, and I just love when Fletch swings his arms as if he didn't know what else to do :)

  • Seems like we are quite a bounch of "oldies" here, and I thought I was the only one! We can start a club for "We who where 14 years old in 1984 and discovered DM then".

I guess it's too much to hope for that any of you other is Swedish, also...?

  • it seems that the age 14 is the time when people get to know dm... i was 14 too^^ now i am 18 and waiting for the show on 23th june in hungary <3 they were fascinating in 2006... i adore them (L)

  • I'm a really old fan of DM. My first boyfriend introduced me to DM when I was 14. Which was in 1984...:-)

I just loved it from the start, and hasn't stop. The boyfriend is history, though! :-)

I think it's hard to meantion any favourite songs, most of the songs are so good. I like them all. But if I have to meantion some, it would be Stripped, See You, Photographic, I Sometimes Wish I Was Dead. Love In Itself is good, too!

    I often like the "B-sides"...

  • What happened to this poor boyfriend?

  • I gave him a two minute warning of course...;-)

  • i was also 14 in 1984

  • Nice to know I'm not the only "oldie" here! :-)

  • No way,... I was 14 in 1984 too. discovering DM,... People Are ... got me hooked and then I got all their cassettes and was hooked on the whole library. now counting the days till the new CD

  • Live in Hamburg aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa(L)(L)(L)(L)(L)

  • I'm a recent DM convert. Bought up most of their back-catalogue in late 06, and have been hooked. Construction Time Again is a heavily under-rated album. Consistent from start to finish. Album stands up well now, and is a pivotal Mode release. Not only with Wilder's entry, but also the introduction of industrial beats. Could have put the icing on the cake by including Get The Balance Right. Excellent nonetheless. Two Minute Warning included.

  • Also 06 here. For me the most underrated is broken frame.

  • Construction time again (L)

  • I am only 26 years old and i have to say i love Depeche Mode.

If i was old enough i would've attended their earlier concerts back in the 80s but i was to young back then.

  • i agree with you potatoes. but i dont think they can sell with that style anymore. they have to survive. but yes i agree totaly. today's DM is more like neo DM.

  • But Playing The Angel was a return to form. 'Pain That I'm Used To', 'John The Revelator', 'Precious', 'Suffer Well' - these wouldn't have looked out of place on Violator, Masses or Devotion.

  • Depeche mode forever...

  • i'm 35 years old i've been listening to depeche mode since 1984 i think now that depeche mode has lost the best of the band, their music is not like before, i'm sad because it's too much rock!i prefer new wave and the alan wilder's sound!

  • What do you know about my musical taste, dummy? Don't talk about what you don't know.I know DM more than you seem to think and that's not because a bunch of people like you think the same, that you're right! We just have 2 opposite opinions that,i think, would never change.Respect that,DAMN!!

  • Depeche Mode lost their soul after Alan´s departure from the band. The essence, the magic, the dark and blue songs from the old days are gone in the past. They don´t make songs like these anymore. Too bad for us..

    A Depeche fan since 1989

  • You know,i hate people who say things like you does such as "Since Alan left Depeche, they're not good anymore,blablabla...".They did some very honestly good songs after Alan's departure, what about Barrel of a gun,It'sno good(the hole Ultra album).Exciter is not their best liked one,but it's still good to me.Playing the Angel was fantastic too.And i like as well their older stuff."Depeche Mode lost their soul...".What a load of crap here!!

  • In principle i agree with you but since Alan left, i do think somethings missing. Alan was a great composer of sound and rhythms (check out his Recoil stuff). He is classically trained and could play alot of DM stuff with one hand. Unfortuantly i don't think he got enough credit.

If Fletch had left instead of Alan then that wouldn't have been such a loss. No disrespect to Fletch intended.

  • Dude, what a pretty negative chap you are. Sad to see that in a Depeche fan. DM are THE best band for me, but even I must admit that they lost some musical talent when Alan left. The songs are still there...in fact "Corrupt" is reminiscient of classic DM. But I can't help but wonder what Alan would do with it. How he would've fleshed it out a bit more...make it memorable like "Personal Jesus".

  • BTW, what the heck do you mean 'This is a load of shit!', your comment on MY comment of Fletch and DM on Fly on the Windscreen? Be specific on your criticisms so we know what you mean and we could answer your very 'intelligent' remark.

  • i'm completely agree with you kubit76!

  • yes,but the lives must go on. demo 4 ever

a depeche mode fan since 1982

dave was ...groving...sry for my bad english^^

  • The sun, the solitude, the cemetery

So welcome to your last...My days are numbered

  • Alan was a handsome man. I adore blue eyes and dark brown hair.:D

  • Oui.

  • They are so cool. And next year they go on tour. How cool is it?! I am so exciting.
