We've been pumping oil out of prudhoe bay for 25 years, actually I have to correct myself. We don't even have to pump it out, it's under such pressure that it natually rises to the surface, we just seperater it and send it don't the pipeline. And worse yet they have to burn off most of the natural gas because there isn't a way to transport to the lower 48 yet?? And if there was we really don't use as we should be anyway. Frustrating!!

Electricity is one of them. The most likely move is to electric cars since hybrids all ready run on electricity, and the starting production of plug-in Hybrids is on the move. Because with plug-in Hybrids you can use both gas and Electricity to power the car fully.

That or fuel blends much like they do usually during winter time. Which you could use right now. That or full blend by just a conversion of things like the changing the type of fuel lines, adjusting the engine timing

We do not yet have the resources to utilize those other energy sources on a national scale, despite huge government subsidies! Use actual reasons in your argument, to make an intellectual case! First, we do have the resources to utilize some of the alternatives on a national scale. For example plug-in hybrids which run fully on electricity or gas. Electricity has been viable alternative for years.

Even if you drill now first by time you start to see any results it takes years to get things set up and oil from the refuge would hardly make a dent the oil dependence of the US.

The electricity could come from a wide variety of power options. Currently coal, natural gas, and nuclear power plants maintain very high efficiency standards in comparison to an automobile due to the scale of operations. If placed strategically they would have a low impact on the environment. Also, they could eventually be phased out for cleaner energy alternatives over the long term.
