@3martijns I am assuming of course that you oppose the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as the death penalty. If not, then you are not pro-life. See Evangelium Vitae.
@3martijns I did not mention World War II in my comment. World War II meets the criteria of a just war in Christian doctrine. Iraq and Afghanistan do not.
@3martijns It's actually kind of funny that you bring this up since the man (Alan Turing) who broke the German Enigma Code, thus giving huge tactical advantages to the Allies leading directly to victory, was gay. Based on all your comments, I imagine you'd be condemning him today. Incidentally Turing also invented the computer. So that machine you're using to comment on Youtube videos is basically a tool of the devil.
@3martijns Let's also not forget that the Internet that you are communicating on was started as a US Government project in the 1960s and was not commercialized until much much later. @3martijns I showed your comments to my father. He said that neither he, nor his father, nor his grandfather, nor his American friends many of whom died in battle, fought to defend a society like the one you seem to aspire to. He also said that your version of history is pure fantasy.
@3martijns Why are you lecturing me? There is a bomb crater behind my house from the war. My father, grandfather and great grandfather were all in the Royal Air Force. I suspect I should be lecturing you.
@3martijns You do know that Islamist do not have a holy war against us at all... They are in fact very peaceful people. It is just the Christian goal to make every other religion seem evil and unjust. I have studied their religion, along with many others, and I have friends who believe in Islam.
@3martijns #1 - I'm not liberal. #2 - I did not say anything inherently liberal. Do you even understand the Conservative tradition? @3martijns Almost no one outside of the US, including conservatives, believed that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. Killing roughly 30,000 civilians who had nothing to do with 9/11 is not pro-life. It would be like the UK invading the US because some Americans give material support to the Irish Republican Army. Also, America did not invent freedom or capitalism. Britain outlawed slavery long before the US, and the joint stock corporation was invented in Europe/Britain. Have a nice day! :)
@3martijns One last point. If you're curious about who in the United States gave material support to the terrorist IRA, one example (of many) is Republican congressman Peter King. To us, these supporters might as well be enemy combatants. Many people in your country supported Irish terrorism in the UK. Despite our repeated requests for help your country did absolutely nothing.
@3martijns So if the United States asks for help and if other countries resist, they're suddenly anti-American. The UK asks for help, then you have procedural objections? Also, why do you need congress and the president to arrest a man raising money for an organization designated as terrorist by the State Department? Also it seems to us over here Americans were trying to get more religion in your government. Finally, according to the Economist Magazine there is more economic mobility in the UK.
@ThoseUnoriginalKids Please learn the difference between "Freedom of Religion"(First Amendment), and 'Freedom From Religion' (what Atheists want - Banning all religious expression).
The Economist is Anti-Capitalist. Crony 'capitalism' is what is hurting our economy.
For a Perfect Example of the American Dream Fulfilled, read Herman Cain's bio on his website.
@3martijns If your ancestors fled Britain because they were seeking freedom from an Established Church (like we have), why is it that you keep trying to legislate your religious beliefs. How can you not see that it is the height of hypocrisy? You are building an Established Church in everything but name! The Economist is Anti-Capitalism? Next thing you'll be telling me Reagan was a Communist.
@3martijns Your very misguided American 'education' has taught you lies about the world. There is no truth left in your brain. The conservative tradition was invented by the British. What you practice is a perversion that we would classify as a modern variant on liberalism (Austrian economics combined with the political theory of the militant Russian atheist Ayn Rand.) lern2read.
@3martijns Why is that even relevant? Millions of immigrants are also lining up to enter Britain, France, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Norway, Sweden and other countries as well!
Why is it that people like Bachmann, Perry, Palin and Cain get more popular the less they are perceived to know? Why do Americans put such a premium on ignorance? Mediocrity is not a Conservative value! You could never get away with that over here!
@3martijns Racism is neither a Conservative value nor a Christian virtue. Thank you for confirming every negative stereotype about Americans. I honestly thought people were exaggerating, but I now see that they were right all along. Land of the free... what bollocks.
@3martijns If you lived over here, it sounds like you would be a good match for the British National Party or the English Defense League. I know your "Tea" Party has ties to the EDL.
Oh and on that, you do know that the Boston Tea Party was protesting against the British government lowering taxes on tea, right? Colonial tea merchants were afraid that the lower taxes would make it more difficult for them to compete and they wanted the protectionist taxes reimposed. So much irony.
@3martijns You have a 4th grader's understanding of Europe, that is if you can even find it on a map. You Americans seem to think that socialism is going back to Reagan era tax rates. And quite frankly, your country failed quite spectacularly in 2008, so you are in no position to gloat. Many European economies outrank America on numerous scales. You approach politics as though it were a sports match, something to be won at all costs, rather than love of country. That is not patriotism.
@ThoseUnoriginalKids Since you Deny almost Everything I write, it would be Great if you could find out Why Millions are Eager to Wait for Years to get Into the USA, even though we Admit 1,000,000 Legals Every Year.
And Hundreds of Thousands Sneak In Every Year Illegally!
@3martijns As I told you earlier, there are millions of people trying to get in over here as well. So that hardly makes you special. People attach themselves to train cars going through the channel tunnel to cross the boarder. It's extremely dangerous. Yet countless people still do it.
@3martijns You can't just dismiss them because many of them are African or Middle Eastern. That's just an accident of geography. Many of the immigrants in your country come from Mexico, since it's on your southern boarder. And while you boast about this, you simultaneously want to expel them.
@3martijns Since much of the Middle East used to be a British colony and we continue to maintain extensive ties in the region, I would say that we are very familiar Islamic customs and beliefs.
@3martijns You keep talking about this socialist economic fail. I hate to break it to you, but we're actually doing quite well over here. It's not perfect, but there's no where that's perfect. People are generally happy. So what exactly is so appealing about the American Randian anarcho-capitalist model? I'd really like to know. Given that we're pefectly happy on our current course and our economies are doing well, what exactly would the benefit of upending out economies to emulate America be?
@3martijns I don't care about your internal politics. It doesn't really concern me. You still haven't even attempted to tell me why we should emulate the way you do things. To us it looks very dysfunctional. True conservatism is about sound governance, which you seem to lack. Your candidates seem to compete for who can be the most outrageous. And finally, your country's foreign policy is generally the same regardless of which party is in power.
@3martijns I think you need to live outside of America for a while to get a proper understanding. Your ideas about the world bear only a passing resemblance to reality.
@3martijns You keep telling me that America is so great. And yet when I point out problems, you just evade and say that was someone else's fault. You should probably learn to take some responsibility. Anyway, we don't care which of your parties do what. I seriously doubt Americans look at other countries and differentiate between which parties do what. For example, you don't look at the Italians and say, the conservatives are in power so we won't blame the Italian socialists for their problems.
@3martijns You are arrogant and condescending. You also seem to have a difficulty comprehending facts. Details seem to scare you. You've done nothing but throw trite slogans at me to see if anything sticks. The fact that you think that I am sheltered from reality because I study, read and stay well informed, in addition to coming from a distinguished military family is laughable. Your grasp of politics is very shallow. Why is it that so many Americans aspire to ignorance and mediocrity?
@3martijns I still find it amazing that you claim to be a Christian and yet you follow the militant anti-Christian atheist anarcho-capitalist Ayn Rand. I know the "Tea" Party and many of your most important Republican leaders claim her as their patron saint. Of course these are the same people who chant slogans like "Keep your goddamn government hands off my Medicare!" So much irony.
@3martijns Ayn Rand is the right-wing equivalent to Karl Marx. Atlas Shrugged is the right's hammer and sickle. Both are evil. To be conservative you need to go back to Adam Smith, Edmund Burke and Russell Kirk. Your country needs to abandon Rand and go back to its conservative heritage in order to reclaim its former greatness.
@3martijns No, you just say the Italians are having problems and they need to straighten themselves out. We look at America similarly to how Americans look at other countries. We don't care if it's democrats or republicans. The impact on the rest of the world is the same. America failed and American needs to straighten itself out.
@3martijns Ok this is all completely wrong. FNMA and FMCC had very little to do with the financial crisis. Their market share in subprime was small compared to the investment banks. They primarily entered the market in order to compete. The economy should have been able to handle the bankruptcies caused by the declining real estate market.
@3martijns I think you might have missed the part where I said I was there. I was in the Swaps market at the time. Our CDS portfolio skyrocketed and made over a billion dollars even while Lehman and Bear Stearns were falling. My boss could pick up the phone, call the White House and expect to be connected to POTUS immediately. So I know what caused the financial collapse. Not because I read it in a book or on some partisan website. I watched it all unfold with my own eyes.
@3martijns CDS and TRS are over the counter financial products. When we underwrite one we know exactly what's contained in it. If I still had access to a Bloomberg terminal, I could get you some historical market data.
@3martijns I am blaming institutions like the one I worked for causing much of the crisis. I am taking responsibility. While the housing markets were collapsing, some of my colleagues were engineering ways to push even more mortgages on people who couldn't afford them. I know because I personally formed the Cayman Islands and Delaware holding corps. Again, the investment banks had subprime positions many time greater than F&F. They entered the market late. These are facts, not opinions.
@3martijns However, those bankruptcies were magnified out several thousand times through the Swaps and other derivatives markets. At the time the derivatives market was valued at over $1.14 Quadrillion. Yes that's right, the entire US economy was just a rounding error. The banks achieved this by piling extraordinary leverage on top of extraordinary leverage. I know because I was there. I used to work in the Swaps market. The main culprit for the financial collapse was repeal of Glass-Steagall.
@3martijns I totally agree with you on Obama. He cut taxes by $425 Billion and then cut them by another $700 Billion. When will politicians learn that cutting taxes does not stimulate growth? Even Arthur Laffer no longer believes in the Laffer Curve (the foundation of supply side economics.)
Also enacting a health care reform package that was designed by the conservative Heritage Foundation was a horrible idea.
@3martijns You are entitled to your own opinion. You are not entitled to your own facts. Most spending under Obama has been a continuation of Bush era programs. Bush added several times more spending than Obama, even if you include projections through 2017. This is not an opinion. It is a fact. You can get the budgetary figures from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office and look up the relevant legislation on thomas.gov.
@3martijns Again, you're using fuzzy math. Most of the increase in the debt is attributable to continuation of Bush era programs and massive new tax breaks. Yes Obama has increased spending somewhat. But it pales in comparison to the budgetary increases signed into law by President Bush. And before you go calling me a muslim communazi, I voted for Bush both times.
@3martijns Seriously, if I covered up Obama's name and just showed you his policy achievements, you would probably love him. I personally find that Obama is very Reaganesque.
@StMattofDurham Your knowlege of One topic does Not cover the Fact of what a 'progressive' education and Liberal media produce in a Brainwashed human.
Reagan carried 49 of 50 states to be re-elected.
Since you do Not like Him, that Proves how Perverted your 'education' has been!
@3martijns If Reagan were alive today and tried to run for president, he would be driven out of today's GOP as a RINO and a socialist. Even though Reagan and Obama had different rhetorical style, there's very little difference between the economic policies that they've implemented. Probably the main difference is that Reagan actually raised taxes 11 times and Obama has not raised anyone's taxes at all. In fact Obama has cut taxes more than Reagan would have ever dreamed. LOL
@3martijns With respect to your claims about Marxism and his personal/family life, I think you need to check out Exodus 20:16. I don't even like Obama. But I find deception to be completely intolerable.
@3martijns One other thing I want to add, your precious wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have intellectual roots in Trotskyism (hardly a Conservative philosophy!) through people like Paul Wolfowitz and William Kristol who originally pushed for it!
CROW BARS is the best friend of those who love babies in the wombs of Mothers. Beat the living daylights out of all abortionists and their supporters.

@3martijns WOW! Your argument has been utterly destroyed. I don't think I've ever see anyone beaten that badly in Youtube comments before!

@3martijns What are you some kind of stalker?
JesseParkerFTW 2 months ago

@StMattofDurham F&F via Housing Act of 1977 Pushed Mortgages for Millions who could Not afford them!
That is what caused the Housing Collapse, which is Still being Propped Up!

StMattofDurham 2 months ago
@StMattofDurham The Swaps were the Mortgages from F&F!!

@3martijns Nope. False. Try again.

@3martijns CDS and TRS are over the counter financial products. When we underwrite one we know exactly what's contained in it. If I still had access to a Bloomberg terminal, I could get you some historical market data.
StMattofDurham 2 months ago

@StMattofDurham Your statements are Deceitful. NO saint you. LOL.

StMattofDurham 2 months ago
@StMattofDurham Fed Debt when Bush left = about 10 Trillion for all 43 prezs.
Up to 15 Trillion in just 3 years of obama. Increasing 4 Billion Every Day.
3martijns 2 months ago
