  • man mchale was a freakin beast down low.

    totally unstoppable.

  • nice!

  • You don't see these kinds of moves nowadays. Today's big boys would just want to dunk all the time.

  • his son was on my bball team

  • yeah mchale and his robot-like shoulders lol. so square that it looks like you can put something on his shoulder and it wouldn't slide off at the sides:)

  • i hope i could also have a apair of long arms

  • why doesn't he dunk when he has the chance?

  • He didn't jump that high.

  • I love McHale and all the Celtics of the 80's mainly Bird and Ainge.

    And nowaday I love Gasol

  • i wish he would teach me post moves

  • omg this is not nlt

  • McHale is an idiot, worst GM ever!

  • dum ass vp ever

  • oh no trust me i thought it was kevin from nlt also so dont feel bad!!

  • i thought it was kevin from nlt!!!

  • 1-Charles Barkley

    2-Kevn McHale/Karl Malone

    3-Tim Duncan/Kevin Garnett

  • Agreed, especially when you consider that Barkley is only 6-4 and does not have very long arms. I would switch where you have place Malone and Duncan though. Duncan > Malone in the post.

  • Barkley would school anyone on the post or away from the post. Especially in todays no handchecking pussy foul league. Charles Barkley is the Greatest Powerforward Ever!

  • Pau GASOL has to see these moves, drop step and under.........................

    GASOL IS MY SUPERSTAR

MCHALE is the best power forward ever. to me.

    Thanks

  • true!!!! mchale got da best post moves! better bring out the broom cuz da celts gonna sweep som laker ass!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My heart is almost divided BUT I have no problem, I prefer the present Lakers to the present Celtics. I love Gasol and Sasha and Radmanovic and Luke and Odom, Fisher, Farmar, Turiadf And Bryant is a great player,He is making me a converse (I didn't like Kobe) A dream team!! So enjoyable!!!

I'm a 80's Celtics fan and I like happy basketball and good white players. I don't like the current Celtics, Sorry. But I'm still a Celtic fan.

I can't wait for these finals!!!

    GO LAKERS GO PAU!!!!!!!

  • And Gasol could be perfect with better inside moves,,The Mchale moves, but nobody is perfect,.. Gasol is Gasol,... Like one lakers fan said to me "He plays like a Laker now so shut up!" Maybe he's right,,,I hope so........GO LAKERS!! GO PAU!!!

  • He reminds me of Tim duncan they have similar styles, both of them are not the most exciting guys to watch, but you want them on your team because they have the best fundmentals in basketball history. It maybe ugly but it works

  • McHale is a more efficient scorer and better post scorer. He was not as good rebounder, assiter or shot blocker as Tim but he his moves and his scoring efficiency is just insane. But then again Tim Duncan is a center whom is cowarding playing in a 2 Center System. He aint a Powerforward

  • Dude had more moves than X-lax.

  • Pau Gasol has to improve himself with these moves. It could be great...please

  • is that really him????????????

  • "There were different styles. The Lakers had their Showtime style, getting out and running. We had our physical style as the Pistons. The Celtics had their style, as did the Bulls. There wasn't anyone pushing for one style of play!. When we played the Lakers, it was a battle of styles, their running against our physical game."I think the game is best played when everyone is allowed to play to their strengths," he said. "I don't think any one style should be elevated over another style."!

  • what's the acoustic song?

  • It's McHale singing like shit.

  • i know himm!

    im friends with his son.

    THE ARE SO RICH.

  • This came from Home of The Brave...wow, I have this on VHS lol. McHale was the man until he fractured his foot, was never the same again.

  • How many did Jordan win between 1984 and 1990 when Bird was in his prime? I got a number for you = "O"

  • fucking rofl @ 2:12

  • its cool knowing mchale is in the list of top 50 basketballers to ever play the game, but it sucks knowing that he might be in the top 10 worst GMs of all time, maybe he was trying not to put a good surrounding cast around KG cause he wanted to be the best PF of all time, but when KG's career is over he more than likely will be one of the best PF/ players to ever play the game. with all this said mchale is still a friggin beast

  • They really need to bring the "high ten" back.

  • maybe the best low post player of all time....

  • I like the irony of using the song "Give it away" when showing highlights of a man who'd never pass the ball once he got it.

  • He RAMJMMMMMMMMMMMMed Rambutt

  • the best power forward of all time

  • McHale has like a bajillion moves in the post its crazy! Definitely one of the best ever! Appreciated!

  • If KM played today, he would frustrate the hell out of opposing players.

  • haha that was priceless..

not sure if his body type would allow to be as successful nowadays, but every power forward should study mchale, his post up moves can be described as abusive

  • I'm sure with today's training techniques he would be much stronger. And these days, there aren't a lot big guys that play like bug guys anyway.

  • "the Black Hole". Ha! Ha! Friggin Hilarious!

  • i thougth Kevin McHale is in NLT. the band...

  • me too! i thought i was the only one who thought it was NLT

  • This MerkinMuffly guy needs to get a life.

  • McHale sings like shit.

  • In 86, Jordan has a 20 plus scorer on his team (Woolridge), a top 50 all-time nba player (George Gervin) and the 2nd leading rebounder in the league (Oakley) and doesn't do shit in the playoffs, if bird has these players on his team, they win the championship. If McHale and Parrish our on the Bulls, they fade in to obsurity behind the greatest ball-hog ever.

  • 1) Woolridge was a notoriously bad defender. So much so that he was never seriously considered for an all-star appearance despite scoring in buckets.

    2) Gervin only played 11 minutes the entire series against Boston due to injury

    3) Oakley was not the NBA's 2nd leading rebounder. In fact he was a rookie and barely cracked the top 20

    4) Jordan was 22 and coming off a very serious injury

    5) The 86 Bulls point guard wouldn't be in the NBA two years later (due to bad play, not retirement or injury)

  • Jordan played 18 games the season that George Gervin was on his team. And did nothing in the playoffs? His team lost to the eventual champions in the first round AND JORDAN AVERAGED 43 POINTS PER GAME IN THE SERIES.

  • Funny, the original black hole. Imagine how good he would have been if he tried half as hard as Bird.

  • I'm sure people have tried to master his moves, but you have to understand that, that isn't easy. The guy had some of the greatest post moves ever. It's not easy to duplicate that.

  • The post moves moves ever, after Hakeem "the dream" Olajuwon.

  • as goofy as Kevin looked he is a hall of famer and voted 1 of the best 50 ever. what i don't understand is why anyone else has tried to try an master some of his low post balance moves . these moves were unstoppable ,i guess i could also say why hasn't anyone else mastered the hook shot like Kareem. Anyways Kevin was a key ingredient in Bostons success and i think we all know that.

  • The late 80's and early 90's was the apex of basketball. The skill and athleticism of the players was at the absolute highest. The early 80's couldn't hold a candle to that era. That was another stupid thing you said

  • The early 80s shouwed the best of Bird, Magic and others phyisically and these two still dominated there conference up until 1991

  • Next time you reply to me, make sure you know what you're talking about because you come off as a complete moron. By the way the Celtics improved by 32 games, but if you want to embellish it, that's your problem. In Jordan's first year they improved by 11 games with terrible talent.

  • You know absolutely nothing about basketball. The rosters Jordan had in his first few seasons were abysmal. He didn't have Scottie Pippen until his 4th season and even then he was a role player. The best players Jordan had in his first few years was Orlando Woolridge and Charles Oakley.

  • Damn, are you like the village idiot of basketball knowledge? Celtics without Bird 1979 = 29 wins, 2nd worse record in league, Celtics with Bird rookie season 1980 (No Parrish, No McHale, No Ainge, No DJ) = 61 Wins best record in NBA.....

  • Bulls without Michael Jordan 1984 = 27-55 Losers. Bulls with Michael Jordan 1985 = 38-44, Still Losers....and what were the name of those great players Bird took to the NCAA Finals undefeated (the last basketball team in NCAA Division I division history to go undefeated in regular season) ..bet you can name a lot of those ;)

  • Here's how Michaels legendary last two years in colleg at NC ended:

1983: North Carolina vs Georgia NCAA East Regional Finals (MJ 26 points, NC loses)

1984: North Carolina vs Indiana NCAA East Regional Semifinals (MJ 13 pts in his last college game, MJ loses. "Help me Worthy, I've fallen and I can't get up!"

  • Yet somehow everytime the greatest NCAA players come up, the dumb ass Jordan Jockers throw MJ in the top 5, even thought MJs highest point game total in NCAA was 39 points. Gotta love the revisionist MJ butt lickers

  • forget his work after his playing career, though I am eternally graterful to him for sending us KG, Kevin McHale was one of the best low post scorers of all time.

"Kevin Mchale is the best player I ever played against, I literally thought he was ungaurdable" -Charles Barkley

  • McHale is the man and he did good sending Garnett over to the CELTICS... now its Larrys turn to send someone over... with all do respect, we " CELTIC FANS " have waited too long and now is our time to take over...

    " GO CELTICS!! "

  • For the asshole who said the Celtics were 6 and 0 vs Jordan. Of course they were. Look at the players that were around Jordan and tell me they shouldn't have swept those series.

  • Force283: What are you, a kid? Jordan had great players around him from the get go, including a top 10 rebounder and a member of the 50th greatest of all time. However, he couldn't lead them past the 1st round. The Celtics had only 20 something wins the year before Larry joined the team. He improved their total by around 40 games in his rookie season. And this was before McHale and against way better competition than MJ ever faced!

  • Check out Magic Johnson getting punked by Bird in the 84 Finals look up on Youtube; "NBA on CBS 1984 Finals Lakers/Celtics Game 4 Finish" and see Isiah getting punked by Larry Bird in the 87 East Finals, look up on Youtube :" Larry Bird Steal NBA Conference Finals Against Detroit" Yeah, it happens to the best of them, better players than you MJ, have been punked by Bird, don't take it so hard, you gotta love larry, give me the ball and get the fuck out of my way, "Swish" game over ;)

  • Best footwork for a big man ever.

  • this guy loved the celtics so much he even gave them kg aswell as a crazily amount of years as a low post dominance. The drop step up n under move is a classic

  • OMG! I've never seen a so skilled player! Long life to low post players!

  • ChocolateThunder, Have you ever blocked a last second shot by Jordan to seal a victory? Well, Kevin McHale has! Have you ever hit the game winning shot (of a playoff game) in Jordan's face? Well, Larry Bird has! Do you have a 6-0 record vs. MJ in the playoffs? Well, McHale and Bird do! You're an idiot who can't play as good as an average high school player. Shut Up!

  • Kevin McHale had the best post moves and foot-work ever!

  • McHale,Worthy,Pippen, Drexler, Wilkins, Regie Miller, Bernard King. all those clutch players of the 80s that where not the stars of their teams but great players better than any of the 90s era time later stars. 1980s the most competitive time of the NBA. Even the worst teams had true stars and clutch players!

  • AceroySangre: Amen! Even Atlanta, with Wilkins, could probably beat any 90's team, but since they were before their time and had to face the Big 3, it just didn't happen for them. And any permier 80's team (Celtics, Lakers, Pistons, Rockets or Sixers) would kill any of Jordan's Bulls teams. Young guys will never be convinced, but they just don't know any better. But the facts don't lie, Jordan is 0-6 in the playoffs vs. the Big 3!

  • Jordan finally got his wins after all the big 3´s players where weathered by 10-11 years of constant domination. And lets never forget that in 1990 the NBA changed its rules to make it easier for Jordan to win: no Triple-teaming, Hand-Check Rule, closing 3-point line to help bad shooters etc. All desiged to make his self-style of game easier haha XD

  • Wrong, the hand check rule was adopted in 2002. Sorry for trying but you failed miserably

  • the shorter 3 point line was for one season. and it wasn't just for the bulls on offense, they had to defend against it aswell, meaning that it really wasn't much of an advantage at all.

  • shorter 3 point line was for three seasons...95-97..nice try tho

  • Couldn't play at all! He only got credit because he is a white boy!

  • What do you know about it? Why don't you go out there and try to cover him then! Oh and thank you so much for making this a racial thing. Meanwhile DJ and Parish are sitting there and giving him the respect he deserves.

  • ChoccolateThunder28, you're a stupid racist that has no game! McHale couldn't play at all? Did you even watch this vid? If you did, you must be retarded too. Anyone who watches this vid and comes to that conclusion is either retarded or doesn't know shit about basketball! I noticed that you wrote the same thing about Bird on one of his youtube sites as well.

  • he and larry bird= best hick duo ever.... period

  • A very intelligent HOF basketball player, but not as a great GM from business viewpoint. I still remember him playing superbly against Pistons in the 1988 NBA East Finales (Game 3 or 4 in Detroit), when 3 defenders simply could do nothing as he faked back-forth-back along the foul line and netted a 2 pointer with a right-hand hook. Never saw a 2nd move like that again!

  • yep i agree, i believe his gm skills has won Boston a few more nba championships!!! HAAAAAAAA..thanks McHALE!!! dammm he was good!! they keep talking about the ball never coming back out when mchale got it inside..why should it???

  • Kevin's my favorite player...such an unstoppable force in the low-post...I try to imitate his moves but I always come up short, however, when I get it, I can really score...no wonder he led the NBA in FG% twice, with a career total of .554! Amazing...

  • Kevin is one of my favorite players. No one could stop him!!

  • finally a kevin mchale vid on youtube

    just awesome

this guy has been my hero since i was a little kid... greatest low post scorer ever, kareem included

  • this is from the video Sweet Sixteen/Home of the Brave....I've owned it since I was a kid

  • I still would take Bernard King when he was healthy.

  • rasheed wallace in some ways (specifically: way they play. on the court) reminds me of mchale. mchale was one of my favorites, him and parish and OF COURSE BIRD when i was watchin them all the time. best days of my celtics, i loved that team man.

  • He had the arm length of a guy about 5 to 6 inches taller. That was his weapon. One day in a TV interview with Tom Heinsohn they reached over their heads to compare arm lengths. It was amazing the difference!

  • Kevin McHale had the most unstoppable low post moves for a power forward.

  • Not only that but he played with Larry Bird a guy you CANNOT LAY OFF!!! You had to play McHale honest... No one who ever played forward in the NBA could have handled him...

  • good player, shitty GM.

  • no he's not.....least not to us Celtic fans :-D

  • Kevin McHale's moves as a player are money. His moves as a GM are bankruptcy moves. However, he's still my favorite. =)

  • al jeffersons stats are gonna be close to kgs this year watch 17+ points 10+ rebounds 3 assists hes about as good as chris bosh or jermaine o'neal and he got green so in about 2 years this will be either an even trade or better on minnys end

  • Kevin McHale sure has a great posture!!

  • el artista de espalda como diria ernesto kranwinkle

  • If I had arms that freakin long I'd be a dominant player too.

  • McHale would school a lot of the players today. The guy was just difficult to read when you were the defensive player. He'd outsmart you and make you look like you were in elementary school.

  • I'll never forgive him for racking Rambo...That was just a cowardly move by McHale.

  • Not really. It fired the Celtics up and changed the tempo of the series. That was the turning point. The Cektics were determined not to play like "sissies" as Bird had said prior to the game.

  • Na, is so under rated that is unbelievable. He had a couple years there he was unstopable. Him and SCottie Pippen get overshadowed by legends and were awsome in their own right.

  • Fit James Worthy into that category :) Indeed 80s players where much more talented, competitive and actually had brains. All the 90s was = 80s players still dominating until 1998 XD

  • and inept singer too.

  • Great player, extremely inept general manager.

  • McHale sings like shit

  • Never knew much of this guy, but that reverse layup at the end is something people only can dream about going in..

  • finally something about kevin mchale on youtube,i love you man!!

  • gotta love 32

  • great video, thanks a lot.
