Hey, there's more to add to your description. (1st phase) Have Ness use PK Paralize on Pokey. Have Paula use PK PSI Shield B. Have Jeff either use a regular attack on Pokey or if he has it, have him use the Heavy Bazooka. Have Poo use PK Freeze. Now, since no one can attack, now is a good time for Ness and Jeff to only use bash (or Jeff can use the Heavy Bazooka) and have Paula and Poo use PK Magnet until the end of the 1st phase.
(2nd Phase) Have Ness use his strongest PK Rockin'. Have Paula use her strongest PK Freeze. Have Jeff do the same thing (bash or Heavy Bazooka). Have Poo use PK Starstorm Omega. If ANYONE has a Bag of Dragonite, use it! After using your strongest attacks, have Ness use bash and heal when needed. Have Paula use her PSI abilities nonstop (Because they're useless in the 3rd phase). Jeff is the same story. Have Poo bash.
(3rd Phase) Have Ness defend or heal throughtout the Phase. Have Paula pray every turn, unless everyone but her is dead. Have Jeff defend. Unless Jeff has any healing items, he's officially become useless. Have Poo use brainshock. Then, have Ness do the same thing. Have Paula do the same thing. Have Jeff do the same thing. Have Poo defend and use brainshock if it wears off.
And before anything, have Ness and jeff equiped with the Night Pendent and Paula equiped with the Sea or Star Pendent (You can get the Night and Sea Pendent at the Mr.Saturn store). If you follow all of these tips, you can beat Giygas at level 73.

Wouldn't it be great if you could go through that secret cave at the beginning and then you'd be in Mother 1 (there is a cave at the place with the dinosaurs that leads to the underworld, but it doesn't connect with the place you have to be in 5ot go back 10 years in the past and since you go back 10 years, which is when Mother 1 takes place, you're in Mother 1, pretty much).

I think I just got it!!! You remember how your souls are placed in robots, right? Well, maybe it was the robots' vision getting all static'd and blanking out, because the machines were getting worn out! Maybe that was it...
There's more to your description in the battle. Make sure Ness and Jeff are equiped with the Night pendent and Paula is either equiped with the Sea or Star Pendent. These will protect against PSI Flash. Heavily Armed Pokey is weak against PSI Paralyze, which will make him a punching bag and Giygas your only problem. Once Pokey turns off the Devil's Machine, use brainshock on Giygas. This will make him attack himself at some points of the battle, making it easier to attack him.
In my earthbound game psi nuckle is called psi IPOD! Dont know why....

How? This is not a hard battle whatsoever.
If you're having such a difficult time, use Multi-Bottle Rockets to destroy Pokey in the first phase. You should be home free after that.
